I have recently have been custom building PCs for my friends who want something that they can easily upgrade when the time comes. I currently am finsihing a few computers and am open to sell them on FIPG. They would be $749.99 each (Paypal or Money Order). They have the options of being sent with a o 19" Monitor (add $249.99). The specs are as followed, and as a request I will put in custom parts which I have access to for wholesale prices. (Ex. A Better GFX Card) Shipping will be around $40

Anyways, here are the specs

Your Choice of Case As Long As You Pay The Price According to NewEgg.

I really hope people endulge themselves with this because I really hope this is a success.

I don;t allow thread crapping but please comment on what needs to be added/taken away tothe computer!

You should show a price breakdown. The price seems really steep for a computer that is not very powerful at all. Your making like 150-200$ margin on these...

80GB is also not much of an HD size.

I checked the prices out on NewEgg (+ S&H) and without a Case, but including shipping, he's making about a $45 profit I think.

Yup that's about it, I am using Newegg as my pricer so unless there is a dependable site with cheaper prices (the price will stay the same).

I forgot that there will be a Mistsumi USB 2.0 Internal DigiCard Reader with Floppy Drive

Jams44

14-05-2006 07:47:08

I wonder if I could fit that monitor in my dorm room?

Not to threadcrap, but CorsairValue select is kinda crappy, I have 1 gig of some geil thats really nice for the price. I wouldn't recommend this comp for gaming at all (

Well then i guess the topic thread name, this computer is meant for upgrades. And if you were a gamer you would know that a 1 Gig Stick although it allows tou to add on more memory is quite a bit slower than 2 512 sticks. Just a little fact you mnight not know!

Dell is notorious for using cheap components, and having poor design. But like i said, with their prices, you get what you pay for.

would be worth about $500 for me

you might have better luck at local college campuses and such. Online you'll get techies who can build a better computer for less

There's a lot to be said for a high-end custom-built PC, and you don't custom-build PC's to save money. Any custom-built PC that is worth anything WILL cost more than a roughly equivalent off-the-shelf PC. That said, that isn't a high-end PC. For that quality of PC I'd also suggest Dell and have a warranty behind it.

I custom build ALL of my own PC's, and have for about 12 years now. Of the 7 desktops at home, all are custom built -- the only off-the-shelf PC's I own are laptops. However I always point OTHER people to Dell if they want off-the-shelf at a good price. I've used and purchased many Dells for work and clients and they have always been good to me.

Unless you're going to provide a warranty and service contract on your PC, I don't think you'll have many takers. Selling PC's over the internet without the resources to back it up is extremely risky, both for seller and buyer. It's one thing to do it for local friends where you can easily hop over there or have them bring it to you, to address the inevitable problems, but trying to do it as a hobby via mail-order is probably not a wise idea.

Not thread crapping, just injecting a note of business reality.

I;m definitely starting to do more of that, just thought with all these comps being built, no reason not to0 sell one of them. Althouhg I'll probably end this thread with that, I will still build computers for any takers.
