Just saw this on SD i know some of you work at target, best buy etc. so here it is
[quote31ff0d2df0="SD"]
My friend works at Target and participates in Microsoft's "Expert Zone" program. Basically, the way it works is liIFli you work at select retail stores you can sign-up to take surveys of Microsoft products, etc. From these surveys you earn points which you can use to get FREE (plus ~$5 shipping) Microsoft products, including X-box 360 games. My friend has already used it to get about 5 games for a total of $25.
Now they only have certain games, but definitely have many of the more popular ones. I don't have a list of games/software in front of me, so I can't quote the list. They also have a few hardware products and select Microsoft software.
You MUST work at a retail store they support. I don't know how this is verified, but I would imagine they do so somehow. I AM NOT ADVOCATING YOU TRY AND SIGN UP UNLESS YOU WORK FOR ONE OF THE GIVEN STORES.
They have a full list of stores at their website, but the key ones are America Online, Apple, Barnes and Noble, Best Buy, Blockbuster, Circuit City, CompUSA, Costco, EB Games, F.Y.E, Fry's, Gamestop, KB Toys, K-mart, Office Depot, OfficeMax, Radio Shack, Sam Goody, Sam's Club, Staples, Target, Toys R Us, and Wal-mart.
Visit their website at http//expertzone.microsoft.com
For those of you in the retail world who may not have known about this, enjoy! -)

/me goes to target and fills out an application.
It would be cool if it's available to others.

One of the perks of working at Best Buy (besides the discount of course!)

How much of a discount do you get? And do you get it on everything?

Cost + 5%. Anything except Apple, Bose, the usual restrictions.
On that Microsoft site; it isn't exactly free. It's a program cost and then shipping, it's like $10 for a game. They want $45 for the optical desktop too. Not worth my time.

What are the usual restrictions? I've been thinking about getting a job at BBY or Tweeter. Do you get the same discount on laptops, flat-panel TVs, and other high-ring items?

You have to actually work in the electronics section of the store to be eligible for this. I work at WalMart, but I'm in the front end. So I selected tech support/service because I work at customer service...hopefully that's close enough....

FWIW, for the folks joining these programs who aren't employed by the stores, MS does check. For the last promotion like this MS sent out affidavits to potential prize-earner be signed and notarized in order to claim the prize.

Good thing I have nothing to worry about. Unless I quit my job soon, which wont happen.

We don't get much off on laptops, because there is very little margin.
For cables which cost $35 normally, we pay $2. TVs it takes about 10-20% off from what I've seen. The more expensive the item the higher the discount.
Cables are the best though.

Interestingly enough, I tried to sign up as my friend at my address and got rejected. Then, I remember I signed up a few years ago, tried logging in, and Rewards Zone was available. Just did enough points for three games, Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, and PGR3. Hopefully it goes through, for $15 its a steal.
EDIT Will they send out a final form of verification before it ships? Or is the intial approval the only check?

[quotece1de69cbf="Cow-Tipper"]is it working for people that dont work at those stores?[/quotece1de69cbf]
No. the point of this program is to train the employees of the listed stores so that they can convince and sell more microsoft products through the quizes which in turn, give you points for free stuff.

It's not displaying points values anywhere, not for the quizzes or courses, not the amount I've earned, not how many points needed for prizes. I can't even find the prizes. Am I missing a link or something here? Does MS have to validate you before that stuff shows up? If so, how long's it take?

My order is in "Processing No Issues" according to Order History. I don't work at any store. Looks like I'm good to go.

not sure if they changed it but a friend has an account and she works at target in seasonal...
also, a good tip. u can look back at the text while you do the quizes (it says so). So, just open up 2 browsers or tabs, one with the quiz, one that can browse the module
