FS: Magic: The Gathering - Black Lotus

My cousin from china got married recently and gave me his MTG collection. This was the only card in a protective case with screws so I looked it up and BAM, its the most valuable card. I don't know how to tell what edition it is, but its black bordered. Considering its from China, it could be fake. Any info on how to tell its authenticity would be appreciated.

Anyways, I am accepting offers via neteller, paypal, or giftcards.

I don't have a scanner, but it looks like the card is pretty good condition. A little whitening on the bottom edge.

Dumbass people buying a card for 800$ lol. When I played I just printed my deck up, fuck paying for anything. And that was in 5th grade anyway lol.

does it matter if it's real? just sell it for the $800 and tell them it is. chances are it is real, and if it's not who cares?

It's funny, I saw some fake cards selling on ebay for like $30. They say its fake in the listing and everything. But I think ebay removed them.

hmm i played this a couple years ago. i had a pretty decent deck that would own my friends cause i splurged like lots of money to get a perfect deck. now if only i could find it... o and most cards from china are fake. i found that out after realizing the borders were slanted a bit and the scan job they did of the original card wasn't that high quality when i bought a bunch of cards in hong kong.

the card looks like its good quality picture, but my cousin is from china. O well. I'll sell it for $50 here, or I'll ebay it as a china card.

Okay, I got my friend who is really into MTG to look at the card. He says he is pretty sure its FAKE, and its called a proxy? He said those are only worth $50 at most for high quality proxies. According to my friend, a proxy is an imitation of the real card, so people can afford to use them in decks.

Anyways, I guess I'll sell this proxy for a green or $30 or any other offers I like.

no proxy is worth that much. besides, using a proxy in a competition is illegal so if you're gonna use a proxy, might as well just print one out from your printer.

There are different types of tournaments. I think Type I tournies allow up to 4 proxies? No idea what Type I means, just getting info from my friend.

you do understand that anyone with a printer can make a proxy, right? A proxy is just someone carefully printing out a high res image of the card, and carefully pasting it on top of a real card. They really are worthless, accept to the person that made them

collecting baseball cards sucks hard.. i had to buy the big box with all of the cards for every single player just so i could get the giants players i really wanted like schmidt, bonds, kent, mueller and that bunch. maybe just my bad luck with the small 15 card packs, eh?
