Yes, you just can't do the same site again.

RolltheStampede

02-10-2007 15:24:47

wait wait, i thought you COULD do the same site twice just not the safe gift

dmorris68

02-10-2007 15:57:52

You can do the same DBA as many times as you like (keeping the $1000 limit per six months in mind), however you can never repeat the exact same site. If a different gift is offered, then it's a different site, regardless of domain. And there are multiple sites per domain, so the domain is irrelevant. For example you can do ShoppersSavingCenter for a laptop and another ShoppersSavingCenter for a DSLR, since they're different sites (but you'd have to wait six months due to the $1000 cap rule). However you cannot do SSC for a Panasonic TV and then do the lisame siteli again for a Phillips TV.

This site has been around for a long time, it's not like it's a new site. As soon as demand goes drastically up, they will often increase refs. We've seen it done here many times, especially after a good I-Deal site gets posted publicly or people startup congas.

This last site I just got a DSLR from when to one ref about a month after I found it, and it wasn't even posted publicly here at the time.

RolltheStampede

03-10-2007 08:27:27

the sites change often. when i did plamatv 4 free it need a referral, then they upped it 2 offers ansd it didnt need a referral then thay tagged one on.

Some sites that had jumped to 5 and 2 refferals from last year are now only 1 or have dropped the refferral all toghether

have never done a DIY site. I am thinking about doing this. I have a few questions though.
What exactly does filing a w-9 involve? How much tax will I have to pay on that $1900? I am a full time student with no other income right now, I dont want this to mess up my financial aid or have to pay a huge amount of taxes on it at the end of the eyar.
The second thing is how long does it take to get the gift card? Is it a few months like it is to get a prize from say gadget city?
The third thing is are you guys joking lol is it a gift card or vouchers to see rachael ray? I guess it would be cool to go to new york and visit my sister in law too but I know it requries a bit of an investment offer wise and I might need to be able to count on getting part of the money back.
Thanks for your time!

w9 is just a form you fill out, nothing complicated. The gift is 1200 dollars not 1900 so you'll probably pay a few hundred in taxes?

The gift is awarded as $1200 CHECK.

Yes, I would suggest they DO care.

Don't do this, it's ill-advised. Just like Nuitech cracked down on it a couple years ago, I'm sure I-Deal would too.

These networks design and stage dozens of sites that are either never opened to the public, or are scheduled to open at a later date. "Finding" them by manipulating URL's would likely wind you up wasting a bunch of offers on a site you were never intended to see.

If you're going to try it, and find what appears to be an interesting site, AT LEAST try to find the site through other means (Google, freebie forums, spam, etc.) before diving in. If you don't, then don't come here whining about how I-Deal sucks and isn't paying you.

My buddy has a problem i've never seen before. He did all the offers, they all went approved, but one group apparently isnt configured right and therefore it doesn't show the Confirm link at the bottom so you can print your certificate. Great!

They made it 10 +1 because of so many sign ups. It is most likely going to stay this way for a while, maybe even go up. Im not sure if it will ever go down to no referral again, usually they do not.

Go to http//bestrewardsaround.com/ and click check gift status.

dmorris68

I don't recall it being mentioned in their terms, but it's been awhile since I read them thoroughly. I know that it's common practice for promotions to reserve the right to cancel the promotion at any time.

You're certainly free to pursue whatever action you choose. Just ask yourself if you ever intend to do another I-Deal site, because I'm pretty sure you'll be shutting yourself out.

Who knows, maybe this really is a glitch and it'll be corrected soon. Just have to give it a few days and see.

I don't wanna talk you into doing something you might regret (in the even that you make a mistake), but you could always save the file as a PDF. That's what I did last time I completed an I Deal site, just in case my printer screwed up or the site tried to pull a fast one on me... Dont get me wrong... I lialwaysli print certs to PDF regardless. That way you have an electronic copy of the cert, and you can print a hardcopy as often as you need to. I use PrimoPDF[=http//www.primopdf.com]PrimoPDF, but there are lots of other free PDF printer drivers as well.

im wondering if the pages will show if you have some approved and need to complete. if they are still pending i guess it like you have not started the site and the wont let you.

even though all of these sites fall under the i-deal umbrella, they seem to run independently of each other (different DBAs, different addresses).

does anyone else think it's possible whoever is running this site freaked out by all the new people registering and closed up shop?

the only other time i saw something like this happen was on the yourchoicereward (Dell 42" tv) site last year.

it will be interesting to see which sites you will be allowed to transfer your approved offers to, and how much the approved offer buy-out amount will be.

I'm sure as hell not willing to risk 10 offers on a referral for an I Deal site. This isn't just any DIY site... there is a time limit, there is a crediting cycle... there are several obstacles that could potentially complicate things for a lesser experienced member of the freebie community. I would be unbelievably disappointed if I went through the trouble of completing my offers and my referral screwed up somewhere along the way completely ruining my efforts.

Too risky (though if I recognized the particular forum member's username as an experienced member, whom I believe I could trust, I may reconsider).

Um... I just assumed we were referencing the $1,200 Ellen Live site. But, nonetheless, I've decided my best course of action right now is to wait until November to complete anymore DIYs as taxes are gonna eat my ass up next year. I figure if I start a DIY Novemberish, I won't receive the gift until next year which won't be taxed until the following year.

I have, and I'd say the cost is about 15-20% for taxes. If you are a student or in a low tax bracket I think it effects you less.

but yeah, I don't know about you, but I always incorporate the tax into my upfront cost of a gift - only it's a deferred cost...

but I agree in principle - you may as well get, while the gettin's good

So I bought a new printer today and I am printing out my forms now. I have never done a site like this before so I am not too sure what to expect of the form but it wasn't this? It is just a one page "certificate" with an official redemption code and a place to sign. There are also a few red Xs where it looks like some images didn't load.
Anyone help me out here? Is this going to work?

Prices may have gone down but not a whole lot. The D80 I just got a week or so ago from that site had an invoice price of $999.87 with shipping. So a couple hundred below their listed price of $1199 but still a great deal, especially for no ref. The Canon and Sony are quite a bit cheaper, which is one of the reasons I chose the D80 despite being a Canon fan -- the D80 is a slightly better camera than the XTi and was more valuable.

Now that it requires a ref it might be less attractive than other sites, but if you were like me and wanting a DSLR, but would be unlikely to actually buy one should you receive a check, I'd still call it a good deal if you can find the ref.

dmorris68

12-10-2007 08:57:32

Yeah, I'm surprised they're giving that option as well, but the good news is they have tons of sites -- finding them (or the better ones) is the challenge. Right now they seem to be in ref mode on most of their better sites, probably due to demand what with all the newbie influx of the past several months. When things settle down I'm sure requirements will diminish, but I wonder how long they'll allow you to hang on to those credits for transfer...

If you've done I-Deal sites before, go dig through your spam folder. The best I-Deal promotions are usually found there, or via ad banners on websites (that's how I found the DSLR site).

That is the value that IDEAL has listed for 2 of th 3. The third is list for unde 1000 retail.

I looked on ebay and one of the bags that IDEAL has available is going for over $1000...used. If you put that the retail is what IDEAL says (1645), then I bet that you can get at least $1,200 for the bag especially since it is unopened.

I figure that if I can get over $1000 from it, I did pretty well considering the fact that is a 10 offer no ref site.

designer bag values on ebay fluctuate GREATLY. its a big risk. ive seen bags retail for over $1600 sell for only $500, and these are brand new bags.

If you're not in a hurry or have an expensive wife ;) the purse site can do just fine but the laptop site is just fine also.

I mailed my certficates last week, I saw the warning that I would only be able to look at the page to print them once. I have not tried to look at it again but my status page currently looks exactly the same as the day I printed. It shows my approved offers and the link to click here to claim your free gift.
Is this a problem? do I need to submit my info again or something? Or will it just change automatically once they process my certificates?

So how does ideal want people to proceed... like me... i've used numerous email's across ideal sites, never a different email between dba's but in general yeah.. like everyone else.

So how does ideal want us to proceed in future sites? If I sign up for a bullseye media site... and used the same email i did with previous bullseye media site would that put me on hold because i've used other email address's on previous ideal dba's?

why would anyone need to use multiple e-mail addresses for sites? especially sites within the same network (i-deal).

i don't think i can buy a 'so i can keep my offers organized' answer. we've all been doing this long enough to where that shouldn't be an issue. most of the usual e-mail providers can separate their e-mails using folders, tags or labels.

i don't understand why people think i-deal is in the wrong over this.

-dan[/quotea1791fd5f0]
Why can't you buy that as an answer? It's legitimate. Just because you haven't thought of a good reason yourself, doesn't mean there aren't any.

When I first started freebies, I used a single address. It quickly became a nightmare. Totally unmanageable. Since then I've lialwaysli used a new e-mail for every site I do, for several reasons

1. Organization and containment of status updates, CS tickets, offer confirmations, etc.

2. Spam control -- I get somewhere between 200-400 spams PER DAY on EACH address that was used for I-Deal sites. That alone makes it difficult to weed out the e-mails I want from all the noise. If all of my sites used the same e-mail, it would certainly be unmanageable.

3. It's informative to know from where e-mails originate. When you do get a spam e-mail that you're actually interested in, I like being able to know where it originated. Since my e-mails are unique to each site, I immediately know "that sender got my e-mail from me doing this site."

It isn't just I-Deal, I create a new address for ANY site I do, DIY or otherwise. And all of my e-mail addresses are on my primary personal domain, it's not like they're all random Yahoo, Hotmail, or Gmail addresses. Every one is addressed as email==xxxxx@mydomain.comxxxxx@mydomain.com=xxxxx@mydomain.comxxxxx@mydomain.com/email, so it's pretty obvious I'm the same person, especially when my name & street address are identical across all sites, the WHOIS on my domain carries the same name & address, etc. Nobody else will have an e-mail with my domain, so I'm not sure what reason they have to justify a blanket rule like that.

All that said, I don't have a problem with I-Deal instituting the change in terms. I just wish it had been from the start, and certainly more prominent. Not only that, but we know that not ALL I-Deal sites carry that clause in their terms, even still today (as I said, I had never noticed it before, and I've read the terms from many sites). My concern is only that people (including myself) might be DQ'd in the future over a term that either wasn't known or wasn't enforced in the past. Like manOFice said, what are I-Deal vets that have used different addresses supposed to do in the future? Whatever address we use will be different than on some past site. It's not like you can use a fake address to complete offers and expect to succeed.

I for one won't be completing another I-Deal site until I have clearance to do so from CS, or if the site does not have that clause in their terms. Once I'm allowed to, I guess I'll have to stick with a single address for I-Deal from then on, but I'll certainly still be using unique e-mails on other sites.

If it is in their terms and conditions (which you agreed to) there is nothing that you can really do about it.

I guess if you can prove in the small claims court that you are the same person (which im sure you can) you can win because I feel that the only reason that IDEAL put this in their terms is to prevent fraud (and to put some ppl on hold )

I dont know though shrug

I believe if you win in small claims court nothing HAS to happen. You can be judged to be due the money but the court can't force payment. I think.

I would be surprised for anyone to send a lawyer and you'd most likely win a default judgment.
