i've been thinking about getting a laptop the last couple of weeks, but i had my eyes on a couple of dell's.

i've never been a mac guy, so which out of the other two would be the one to get?

i don't think getting it and unloading it on ebay is an option, unless i go through a professional company.

Yeah, since there are no specs on the site they will most likely give you the cheapest model they can find.

So you guys can decide if it's worth it or not. There are i-deal sites that have a better payout ratio but require 1 referral.

I'm in for it...I'm 1 out of 2 attempted I-Deal sites, and the profit has been so high. I got screwed on DOYD, but oh well. I'm in. I always wanted a Mac anyway, eventhough I'm sure I'll probably ebay it.

Not all i-Deal sites require referrals. DOYD was 6 offers no referrals.

I'm 100% positive this is i-deal.

And it's impossible to say what the crediting schedule is like. No one has reported doing this site, yet.

Have you read the T and C for the laptops site?? -- I can't find anywhere where it says that you can't do more than one of their sites. It said just one gift per person, but it's vague because we don't know if they're refering to one gift per site or per company. Let me ask Molly about that.

According to the I-Deal rep I used to be in frequent communications with, there is a limit of $1000 per DBA per 6 months (of course some prizes are over $1000, so that would be the limit for that DBA & 6-month period).

Each DBA has it's own limit, so you could do $1000 from Inner Concepts, $1000 from Red Turtle, $1000 from DTCI, etc. all at once. Of course that's assuming you can complete that many offers without defrauding.

Is the there still a time limit for I Deal sites? I think it was 2 months...

No. The Dell monitor was from Bullseye Media and the 42" Plasmas were from eReserachGroup (I think) and ConsumerSavingsCenter. I don't recall Inner Concepts doing much at all until recently, I think it's a fairly new DBA or has at least been on the shelf for awhile.

Seriously, this is REALLY bothering me. What's the deal with the MacBooks? Someone please give me some info... a PM... something. And what do I do if I can't get my MacBook... When I signed up, I chose the MacBook. I later checked out the redemption form (after understanding what everybody was talking about), and sure enough, the drop box for your choice of "gift" doesn't contain "MacBook," but only HP, Toshiba and $500 GC. They can't possibly get away with this. Think of i-deals crediting as a lightswitch. After 7-days silver turns ON, while gold and platinum are still OFF. Gold and platinum have their own (or the same) crediting schedules in which they will turn ON. It could be 20 days, it could be 30 days -- no one knows at this point as its a new crediting system implemented by i-deal recently.

Do you seriously think that after the 7 days, that one credit is all that you're going to receive? Think about it...

Maybe Molly can just tell us what the new cycle is.

the appeal of this site was that you could get an 1100 laptop for 10 EASY offers and no refferal VS 10 offers and a refferal like most other ideal sites.

the people who signed up didnt think they'd get owned like money in my wallet and be offered such a small ammount of money and cheap ass laptops.

Its not an option on the redemption page anymore. You only have options for either a $500 check, the toshiba or the HP. There use to be a macbook option there but was later removed.

Hopefully something can be done about that. If they offer it on the main page and you selected it via the drop-down menu when first signing up you should be entitled to it if you complete your requirements.

I believe that was a mistake, though, on i-deals shipping department, because they didn't know that the 8gb was being offered (as it doesn't specify it anywhere on the main site). If it did specify it I don't think they would have a problem sending the 8gb version -- it's only $50 more, right? $50 more ($250 in total) for 6 offers is hardly enough for i-deal to cry over when they sent almost $900 more for the same requirements on deckoutyourdeck.

As for sleeknewlaptops.. it's plainly illustrated on the main page as being offered on this site. They would have no excuse as to why they wouldn't offer. If there is an error with it not showing up on the redemption page then maybe molly or someone else at i-deal can fix that (or at least send, in lieu of the macbook, a comparable check).

That 8gb was a separate graphic layout (which is also a different link extension) from the main site (see http//candycoatedtunes.com/), i'm assuming for advertising purposes. Obviously Molly wasn't referencing to that certain layout, but the main one. It perhaps was an error on i-deals part and isn't definitely not comparable to $500 vs. a macbook.

Actually it contributes quite alot if you were to actually read his post.

It basically says that even though Ideal may advertise a certain product in the past they have been known to not ship out certain advertised products (8GB black nano, clearly visible in any link [whether typed out or not]).

Thus it is very similar to what is going on here, and whether or not people will receive a MacBook.

perhaps the three of you should stop defending them so much. (note i'd phrase it differently [think nose/ass], but don't want to piss off a mod and get a temp ban).

1. start freaking out at the drop of a hat when something doesn't credit

go back through the main i-deal thread, i posted on 01/09 that i received 3 spam e-mails in 5 hours offering an 8G nano. it's pretty safe to say that is the same deal everyone else was offered to sign up to. for you to still defend them on that is laughable.

Personally I think if you do use a prepaid card with a low amount ($20-$50) you deserve to get DQ'd. It's giving dead leads to the companies who pay for all of our freebies. As it's saying right off the bat you're not interested in going past the trial and are just doing the offers to get a completion status. Even if you aren't interested in the product/service, a lot of the companies put faith into many people forgetting to cancel. With prepaid that eliminates that factor as well.
If everyone (or enough) people did this the freebie industry would die. A lot of the companies either steer away from incentivization of their offers, have decreased their payout or have just simply died from the incentivized market for this reason.

If you forget to cancel they can still continue to bill you, and if you never update your cc info they can send the debt to collections, so you aren't that much safer with prepaid.

I only use prepaid credit cards to protect myself from the scam offers, like Cheat & Eat and White Overnite.

If I'm not interested in a service/product, regardless of what CC I used to pay for it, I call to end the service and send back what needs sent back.

Isn't the company, putting faith in you forgetting to cancel, just as dishonest as not intending to ever go past the trial from the consumer's point of view? From an accounting perspective, I would guess the company would count on everyone ending right after their free trials, to produce a very conservative estimate for their statements.

Some of the sponsor offers are great. I'm still a blockbuster online member. And I signed up for another offer on a different site that lets you download tracks for very cheap, DRM free for example. I don't mind completing sponsor offers especially if I will use the service in the future. As for getting the "freebies" on the side, it's a great added bonus. I've only done 1 I-deal site before, but it credited fine, shipped a check of equal value as promised, and honestly I think anything is worth a shot if you have some disposable income to mess around with.

Nope...just the first 2 on Page 1. I completed all of my offers April 12th...fyi.

I did the hardest page first, page 3, I did 3 offers on there on the 14th and 15th, I know it hasn't been that long but I don't really look for them to credit.

My day 20 is Monday and I had to do a replacement for a silver offer. It credited the next day. We should know more in a few as everybody hits the 20 mark.

Just wait for your offers to credit...It seems like they are all crediting well. But if you hit the 7 day or 20 days and offers in those groups don't credit, you will have to do replacement offers.

Actually, I think ref sites are still the shit... in terms of customer service and the time it takes to receive your gift. It seems that nowadays DIY are taking way too long to credit/send gifts. I got into a couple of DIY freebies a while back, then returned to ref freebies and thought, "Ahhhh, How could I have forgotten ref sites... They're so much faster."

Brandarama takes a good 4 months (at least)... I-Deal Takes 30 days to credit all of your offers, and you still have to wait a while for your gift... and you don't even know if you'll receive what you originally opted for (ahem... MacBook)... and Niutech (litearli), they're done.

When you could do a ref site, knock out a few referrals and have your gift within the month. Offers credit as you complete them and most have AIM support and actually answer support tickets and emails.

Not trashin' DIY sites. They hold a place close to my heart, but there's nothing like an old school referral site.

Unless you can find referrals by advertising somewhere free.. they definitely aren't worth it.

You can complete ONE easy offer and get up to $250 on DIY sites...
or you can get one half credit on referral sites...
or you can get like $10 on points sites.

I love em both....I figure if I buy refs for paypal, it's a limited effort for me, and I am still making almost double what I put in. DIY are cash cows, but refs sites are steady work.

Awesome! I'm debating whether or not I should redeem if I haven't received the e-mail yet. Obviously they aren't coming through in the stated 24 hours. I'll wait 7-days.. which will be Sunday for me. by manually redeeming I mean going to the link that the email they were supposed to send you has and getting the print out.

Mine says the same thing as yours, but when I try and verify my address, it gives me that message.

I have my spam setting OFF... there is no reason why I wouldn't get the email. Tomorrow is day 30 for me and I should have credit for my remaining offers and sometime within 24 hours afterward I should get the email.

It doesn't have anything to do with spam filters or anything... they are just not sending the e-mail. I feel sorry for those who do not know the tricks and the trades of i-deal and how to get to the redeem link themselves. At least we know though, right?

I printed it off -- the barcode image didn't work though, no matter what I did. All well though, nothing I can do. They only let you fill in your info once, so make sure you guys get it right and print it off the first time.

Just on the SAFE side assume you'll expire after 60 days... I've never seen an ideal site not.

Definitely NOT. Multiple signups for the same site will disqualify you. That's why you never pull the trigger on an I-Deal site until you're ready to start completing offers.

For me, it's May 22nd. 15 days for me must of started when I went approved for all of the offers.. then the redemption link was sent to me about a week later.. so now I have only 8 days for them to receive it. No big deal though for me though, they'll get it in time. Just, for all others, please be advised of this and I suggest mailing in your redemption certificate as soon as you can.

Yea, I got the emal and followed the link from there. At that infor redeem page, when I hit submit, I get the error message.

there's like a 16 digit code that is your redemption code....which I think is the most important part of the document. if you really wanted to be advantageous you could then put that code into a bar code maker and it would be able to be scanned.

you should be grandfathered in. if you are really curious, log into your account if all it still says is "2 silver" "2 gold" "6 platinum" and then below platinum doesn't say anything like "referral status 0/1" then you know your golden. - as well you should be.

Folks, this is standard I-Deal behavior. When a site becomes popular, the requirements are always raised. If you got in before the increase, you're still under the old requirements.

This is why you'll find I-Deal sites kept hush-hush for awhile when they come out, because if you crank up a public conga and get a boatload of signups, the requirements tend to increase pretty quickly.

I don't think anyone has had the barcode print, but their is a number on it it as well that should print fine.

Yeah, the barcode image is almost always broken on the original print. However, most of the time, if you go back and reprint, the barcode appears, but you'll have a big red REPRINT warning on the page. I always screen capture my original certs before I print them, and in the past I've cut & pasted the barcode onto a capture of the original cert and then printed that out for mailing. Never had a problem, but I don't think they actually require the cert (since it almost never prints and I haven't heard of folks going to the extreme I did with the barcode). As long as your redemption number is printed on the form, you should be fine. I doubt they actually scan them anyway, but who knows.

My barcode doesn't print either... a friend of mine did an I Deal site months ago and I remember his barcode not not printing as well. Nothing to worry about... the number is still there.

Secondly, out of curiosity, is anyone elses redemption form printing in three pages? I tried everything to get ONE PAGE, but couldn't...

I haven't see a recent redemption form, but I'm guessing they haven't changed. You don't need the W9 text at the bottom, just the form itself (it had a border I believe?). I always got mine down to one page. Tweak your margins, remove the header/footer if you have one set, and if you're running Firefox you can set the scale to 80% or less until the cert just fits and the bottom text spills over to the next page. Then just print page 1.

6-8 weeks is the "official" answer. In practice, it could be as soon as 2 weeks, or as long as 3-4 months. I've seen both extremes, and most of my I-Deal payouts came sooner than the 6-8 weeks and none came later than that.

To answer ILoveToys 89449-4470 was where I sent it.

The second one is likely a PO box, so they're just fowarding it automatically. I wouldn't sweat that.

If i signed up on the 19th of April, but didn't go through with any offers for fear of this being nothing more than a waste of time, is it too late for me to complete all offers and deal with crediting issues?

I've noticed that it takes about a month for everything to finalize and I figure by june 19th is when I have to meet the deadline.

Right, but if you qualified and sent your forms in, then your account expires, they will still process it and it will be active again.

Right, if you are not approved for all your offers by 60 days you are done. But if they have your gift voucher and your account expires...they will process your account and you'll be able to access it again and you'll be fine.

I looked at there privacy policy and terms of services. looked for the company name, googled them to see if any complaints have been posted or other info....didnt find anything negative. Thats how i judge them to be legitimate.

There's still plenty of old ones in stock. I doubt ideal will spend an extra $100-$150 for the newer version.

Yep.. they don't usually put much effort into changing it right when it ships though. Sometimes they do though. It usually changes to that like a week after you've received it.

With all the I-Deal sites I've done, your status stays at the 6-8 weeks thing until about the time you receive it, lithenli it changes to will arrive shortly.

My offers are approving pretty much on schedule from what everyone else has posted. I have a question on replacements (it looks like I need to do 2 on platinum). Keeping in mind the 60 days total, is there any magic time frame that I should do replacements within after a page approves?

Just do them ASAP, but don't you need a referral?

I won't worry too much. When a lot of people complete a particular site they usually approve and ship in batches. The people that got approved manually because of the expiration bug only advantage is saving some ink and postage. I'm guessing our gifts will ship at the samet ime.

If any of your offers do not credit on those days, you have to do more.
If say on day 20 on your 3rd page...none of your offers credited you would have to wait another 20 days if you did replacements. BUT if you had say 5 out of the 6 go complete on the 3rd page...then replacement offers should only take 24-48 hours.

And to answer your question Yes, I-Deal reports all payouts to the IRS, as do most any other company that asks for a W9. If you get a 1099 at tax time, then it is reported, and I-Deal definitely sends out 1099's.

Technically, you know you shouldn't even be asking, because you're legally required to report it regardless of amount or whether you get a 1099.

His account expires one week from today, on 6/8, if my calculations are correct.

gengwall, if completed offers credit after expiration, they will typically reactivate your account. You just can't signup for more offers or recruit more refs after 60 days.

Regarding the manual credit issue, that's always been a touchy area with I-Deal. I wish they would clean up their boilerplate TOS about it, because their terms (last I checked) still mention waiting 30 days for manual credit requests, yet they often tell people -- as they did you -- that they don't do manuals. However, they HAVE done manual credits for people in the past, so it just depends on which CS rep you're dealing with.

Successfully completing I-Deal sites requires some experience -- I venture to say that MOST of the impulse customers they get from their banner ads and e-mail spam, who know nothing of how these work, fall into the same boat as you and wind up not qualifying. However in my experience with I-Deal they DO come through if you do everything exactly right, although it sometimes takes some direct contact with CS to get things done. Molly and Trish both took excellent care of me on a couple of sites, but I understand that others have had mixed results with them. It probably has a lot to do with how you approach them. shrug

You're probably going to have to write this one off to inexperience, but you'll be better equipped to take on the next I-Deal site correctly. If you don't make this one, you won't have a payout that blocks you from the same DBA for six months, although you will have to complete different offers (usually not a problem as I-Deal has a huge and ever changing offer selection).

I did a replacement on May 30th but it has not approved yet (and I am beyond 48 hours since doing it, but not beyond two 24 hour days I guess.) My friend has been processed as of last week, but he had to get it done manually since he had the expiration error.

I've been processing for almost 4 weeks on a different ideal site just to give you people some idea of the wait times

sorry to change the subject, but i did somthing like this for gadget city last year. It took about a month to process and another few weeks to get my certificates. Once i mailed them, it took about 2 more months to get my PSP, but whenever i call them, they said it was still be processed and ironically i called them one week and they said it's prob going to take another month, i got home, the UPS man brought me my PSP which they bought from officedepot.com LOL

On the bright side, if it takes another month or so, they'll likely be sold out of the previous Macbook models and we should be more likely to get one of the more powerful ones. (Just trying to find something positive in not having been processed. lisighli)

There is no number, try contacting them through the website under "Contact us"

Just e-mail them, you will get a response back within a few days (hopefully). Tell them it says your account is expired when you try to redeem so you need to be manually approved. They will ask you to scan a W-9 and e-mail it to them, then process you with that.

It will say you have been processed please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery or something like that.

Nop. I wish I had tough. I sent my certs and they recieved them around May 23. I still havent been processed.

Similar thing happened to me with DOYD. It expired before I was processed, then I got processed (though manually) and it went back up. I'm not really worried about it.

If they have your certs but just not processed...and you expire...I wouldn't worry to much. Once they process you...you are able to log back into your account.

They've had my certs for a while, so I guess I'll just sit tight and wait....I've had good experiences with them before....I'm sure they'll come through.

Yeah some have gotten gifts quick, i've been processing on a different ideal site for over 4 weeks now.

I went back and looked....17 days it took from processing to receipt....

I was just wondering if I had read the posts right regarding the expiration because there is also the possibility that the 60 days will expire during the redemption processing cycle (15 days). That is the case for me - I was approved within 60 days (barely) but am now beyond 60 while in the middle of the 15 day processing period. I presume, based on what I've read, that once my certs are processed my Check Gift Status access will return.

Basically, I wasn't sure if people were talking about one scenario or two different scenarios with similar messages from I-Deal. I think it is 2 different ones now.

So, let me see if this is an accurate summary.

There are two scenarios where a person could get the "registration expired" message but still really be just fine

1. When attempting to sign in to Check Gift Status after the 60 days from inception has passed but during the 15 day redemption processing period before processing has happened. Presumably, after the person has their cert and W9 processed, the Check Gift Status access will be restored.

2. When attempting to retrieve their cert. This is due to a glitch. The solution is to contact customer service to be processed manually (see below).

There are (at least) four types of "manual" action that may need to take place

1. If you don't receive the email with the link to the redemption page, you may need to manually access the page. The link has been provided here several times.

2. If you are not able to get your certificate from the redemption page, customer service may have to manually process you. This will involve contacting customer service after which they will instruct you (in most cases) to fax them a copy of your W9 for confirmation.

3. If you are approaching your 15 days and are still not processed even though you have delivery confirmation of your certs, you may want to contact customer service "just in case". They may then manually process you as in (2) above.

4. Once you have been processed (or believe you have), if you still can not access the Check Gift Status section, you should contact customer service so that they can "reactivate" you manually to restore your access.

Does that sound about right?

(An interesting side note. The certs themselves seem to indicate you have much longer than 15 days to get processed. My cert which was generated on June 6th says "NOTE Redemption certificate must be received by 07/21/2007")

If all your offers are approved and you went to the cert page and it said your account was expired even though it wasn't then you have to be manually approved by contacting CS

IF all your offers are approved and you can print your certs and you mail them but they don't update your account and now it says it's expired and you can't login....don't worry to much cuz they have your certs and once they process those certs your account will open back up.

If you had problems printing your certs then you would have to contact CS and see if they could manually process you because you couldn't get the certs working.

Once processed you have 6-8 weeks to wait for your gift

I want to leave no out for them to say they didn't get enough info.

Assuming that it will take a couple days to forward and assuming they have a backlog, do I sit tight even past the 15 days, or should I contact CS at, say, day 12 to ensure I'll be processed in time?

i printed out my confirmation page and sent it in then when i check the status page it says my account expired. Did this happen to anyone else? Should this effect my prize?

When the process your forms you should be able to login again. I hope you have delivery confirmation on the mailing of those though in case they claim they can't find them.

Just keep trying to login...once you've been processed you'll be able to login again, and it'll say you've been processed. Then you sit and wait for your prize.

when you login to your account it will say at the bottom under your offers that you have been confirmed and to expect your gift within 8 weeks. They'll also send you an email.

Put "Second Request" or something similar in the email title. There is no "double secret" email that will get you through. I had to try 3 times before getting a response.

4 weeks does seem too long. Did you mail your certs with delivery confirmation? I hope so. If so, include the DC number in your correspondence. Remember to stay polite. Good luck.

The disturbing thing is not that the text of approval changed, but that the link is posted, possibly indicating that I would need to go through printing and mailing certs again. I really don't think that is the case but it set off an alarm for me. My guess is that this is just a generic change in the approval text i-deal uses (I saw it on another DBA site that we are doing as well) and that it really has nothing to do with being processed. I'm curious if people have seen this aprticular message before or if it truly is new.
