Has anyone ever done the offers on this site and gotten an actual prize?

Just wondering because it is tempting me right now (

dmorris68

Impossible 3rd page offers. Unless you consider $3000-$5000 possible.

[quote8118edabcc="dmorris68"]Impossible 3rd page offers. Unless you consider $3000-$5000 possible.[/quote8118edabcc]

true... although on my site it can be done for 1K on the last page....

mind you this is for a LG HDTV, 1K Visa Gift Card and a MacBook Pro

dmorris68

31-01-2007 20:30:49

I signed up once for a Canon 20D and a Sony Laptop. Had to do 3 offers on the last page, out of 4. The cheapest was around $800 as I recall, the most expensive was $1700. The other two were over $1000.

Guess they've gotten cheaper offers now, but it's still a helluva lot of money to blow, especially given the less than reliable performance of many DIY sites and the length of time it usually takes to get paid My luck I'll blow $1000+ and get nada, so I'll stick with the reduced risk of the more popular freebie sites. )

My total out of pocket was about 1,000 bucks, but i will get it back and then some.

all my offers but my premium (page 3) offers are showing as pending, they told me it should be around 30 days to credit and i will most likely have to wait 2 months to get manual on the premium offers. Its a little pricey but well worth the return

Here are all four offers... the other one is a real winner too. It would seem to cost $449.95 + $840 + other offers for a free gift...

This was for a macbook pro, a Canon digital camera, and whatever you would get for a bonus offer... I'm assuming $1,000 gift card like above.

Edit Just got an email... my bonus offer was a PS3 with games.

Yup, after adding it all up you would probably pay around $1,400 for everything (that $450 charges $500) -- so if you get the $1,000 Visa you pay around $400 for a Macbook pro, a digital camera, and a PS3 + games.

In my mind that equals out to a free macbook pro and a digital camera (after selling the PS3 [I probably woulda sold the camera but idk how much they go for]).

Seems nice but I'm going to have a friend signup for that TV site so I can see what all the prizes are -- seems legit, but I still want to hear what happens to RTS.

was thinking the same thing, but I don't know who would purchase a pirates of the caribbean themed room or a winnie the pooh one, I would probably put an ad in the paper asking them what they wanted and sell it to them for cheaper

RolltheStampede

17-05-2007 14:32:15

Ok there are 3 tiers of offers and then you have to do one offer on a 4th page you could call it to get the 1,000 bonus gift card.

i did 2 on each page.
on the 4th page I did 2 offers as well as i was worried about crediting.
I did some make money of ebay thing which i sent back, and i did vista print (which cost me 10 buck cause i got glossy cards) both credited after 30 days
the only expensive offers are on the 3rd page. everything else is fairly cheap.

I did the promotional offer
and i completed them all in 30 days so i got the bonus offer, which for me was a macbook pro, which is the bonus gift for the higher priced its.

whether you go for the vaio combo or the plasma combo the retail of both totals out to be $5398.

You can get manual credit but you have to wait 8 weeks.
I think you have to have kept the offers to get manual credit for them. the rest credited after 30 days

an no i didnt word anything wrong the offer for the $1000 bonus was some business cards, i guess i coulld have done blockbuster or something but i needed some business cards so there.
When I did it the most i paid for any offer was 500 whcih if you had jump on in march you would have too but the other cheap offer is gone.

kingsmoit

17-05-2007 15:49:54

Hmm... from what I understood, I wasn't getting the $1000 gift card. My "extra offer" bonus was the the PS3. It might even be worth it if I was sure I'd get the gc, but way to much out of pocket otherwise.

ghounds07

17-05-2007 18:28:03

Oh okay, what I meant by the "$1000 offer" was the last page offer (the most expensive one) -- so maybe I had the wording wrong, haha.

RolltheStampede

5400 payout -1200 investment = 4200 net profit. Yeah dude your right totally not worth it

ILoveToys

20-06-2007 09:41:42

4200/5400 = 78% profit

Any I-deal site that the requirements haven't gone up (I'll use the 24" Dell LCD even though it's old as an example). I had to do 6 offers (all under $10) and get 1 ref who I did 3 more offers for on various sites, so I had a max of $90 into it and got a $1000 monitor (that is what I-Deal paid for it so don't give me crap about you could get it cheaper). Now that means a profit of $910 or 91% profit, and I only had to front $90, not $1200. I'm sorry, it's a lower payout ratio, and you have to put way too much out there for it to be worth the risk.

Now, yeah that's only a $1000 payout so let's say I do 5 of these sites, it costs me no more than $750 (and that's estimating on the extreme high side), for $5000. A profit of $4250 (more than you PTP site), and I invested only a little more than half of what you would on PTP. And BTW 4250/5000 = 85% profit, and remember my numbers are estimated in your favor. You could probably complete them cheaper than $750.

Now, I realize I-Deal "screwed you" in the past RTS, but more and more ppl are finding them to be legit, and the chances are they had some reason to DQ you that you don't like to tell us in your rants about it.

As far as PTP goes...It's just my opinion; to each their own.

he does have a point... My mother did the washer and Dryer site and got a check for 2 grand... a few months later everyone else was offered 1250 for that site.... the plasma sites where they offered everyone 1000 bux and refused to ship the tv... I don't know if i could put 1200+ into a relatively unknown site though, now that burnlounge is gone...

we all need to do one of those foreign money games where everyone puts in 100 bux and once a month some person gets all the cash til everyone is paid... and we can let DudeLovesFinch hold all the cash...

It's 4 regular offers, then 2 really expensive offers.

You can get a Slingbox for doing one offer that covers one of your 2 on the first page, and you also get a Denon Home Theater System.

Do another normal offer and you can get a $1000 Visa.

Not really a terrible deal, the expensive offers are

Just finished the product test panel for the sony LCD and apple box thingy today. The bonus for 30 days is a macbook pro and the 7th offer was another sony Wega Flat-screen. Total investment about 1400-1500. The sony LCD's on the market are 40 and 46 inch's so thats anywhere from 1700-2700 depending on which they send. Will let everyone know how things go. Support has been amazing with this company. Wish me luck.

I guess before I jump into this, I am wondering if the Tax implications make this worthwhile.

I mean if you spend $1500 and get 5 grand, thats a $3500 profit. However wouldn't you also pay another $1500 in taxes?

Maybe I'm missing something here.

Have a very good accountant......plus I am in a different tax bracket then most. Being disabled I get a break. Another thing is to know the fair market value of what you receive. That is invaluable to a good CPA.

What you need to remember is that the "cheap" 500 dollar offer actually costs at least 600, because you have to keep that travel service for at least 2 months or you won't get anything.. Then the next cheapest is nearly 900 dollars for webhosting....

It's tough, cause I mean.. you could freaking just BUY a plasma for that.. I know you get more but still... so freaking much money upfront....

I agree with Roll as I did it as well however when I did it I had 2 500.00 offers so instead of 1500.00 out of pocket it was more like 1000. Makes quite a difference as that extra 500.00 paid my taxes.

Yea i recently took the plunge , should be getting a macbook air, macbook pro, imac 24", and ipod video. i don't think the oqo model 2 computer will be hard to resell, the only thing i'm worried about is the total gym. i'm prepared to take a large loss on this thing, but they are selling the same set on ebay for like $750 with free shipping, and being that this thing weighs about 100lbs shipping is gonna cost an arm and a leg. i'm gonna contact PTP about this offer specifically to see if i could return it within my "trial period" but not too hopeful. anyone have any ideas how i might minimize my losses here?

IE I make about an extra 10k/year on DIY's. I'm not saying I'm a pro, because freeipodplayer probably makes 2-3x as much as me (at least this year)...but I'm at least experienced enough where if PTP fucked me, it wouldn't be the end of the world. My basic logic being, if you haven't made at least a 2k profit off of DIY, I don't think it's the greatest idea on doing their sites.

Ok well that makes sense when you put it that way. I didn't know that there was more to it. When I thought of pro I just thought it was based on how long the person had been doing it, not on how much a person makes from it.

It doesnt really matter as long as you do your research before you jump into it. Im scooped out PTP for a good 2 months before i finally did them and i talked with someone who had done it before me about it before i did it.

there have even been a few sites that I checked out for too long and it then turned out to be legit before I did it.

I guess it just all boils down to if you have the money to risk if you think there is a risk and if you have done you research on the site and feel comfortable about it.

also wen i did it i didnt have as much out of pocket as they do now.
Mine was about 1300 OOP of which 1,000 i had just got from Brandarama but 3700 is a big chunk of change as well.

You definitely want to answer all the questions in those surveys when you sign up, esp. the ones about which gifts you would like to see. If you select flat screen tvs you can get another 50" plasma (it comes up as your bonus 7th offer instead of the generic $1000 G.C.). You can also select a macbook pro, a macbook air, etc., and those will be your gifts instead. So basically you're looking at $2000 lowe's GC, 50" samsung TV, tivo, and either $2k TV or similarly priced laptop. Total value of around $5500-6000, for about $3700 spent. Not too shabby...

What type of offers are we looking at for those tv's and gift cards?

macbook733

27-04-2008 23:52:16

mostly standard offers like you'd find on any freebie site, but there are the 2 at the end that will cost you over $3500 up front. I would strongly recommend signing up for the offer first using a fake email/information so you can navigate through all the offers you will be required to complete. That way you will get a feel for the site before you actually complete any offers, because you really dont want to screw something up when it's go-time.

Actually, I would say that's pretty standard advice for just about any website, because sometimes you really don't know what to expect until you check out all the requirements. Don't just take someone's word for what you have to do- check it out yourself.

BAD ADVICE! Signing up first with bogus info will wind up disqualifying you, as your IP will be the same unless you go to some lengths to prevent it.

Just signup with your legit info -- you can still see all the offers required before you start. If you don't like the offer mix, just don't do any and move on. Or you can keep checking back for better offers -- the offers aren't locked in to your signup, if they change for anybody, they'll change for you too.

Actually, there's a time component to registration and offer completion on PTP site. That doesn't change the fact that it's a bad idea to sign up more than once on this or any site.

I apologize for not pointing that fact out in my earlier post. Yes, you need to be aware that they collect the IP of everyone who signs up for an account with them. That said, while I understand why you guys are reluctant to recommend a test-signup with bogus info, as long you use a different computer/network for your actual account, you will be fine. I think it is extremely foolish to sign away over $3500 without first knowing what you're getting into, and by letting time lapse, as dmorris recommends, you'll miss out on the additional gift (the 50" plasma in this case). I guess my point was that it's a large investment, and you shouldn't just take the word of strangers on a board as gospel -including mine.

So if you spend say 3700.00 and get 5500.00 and you will have to pay tax at say 15% you will only really make 975.00 profit after tax..... Pretty big risk vs. little reward but that is just mho.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but that figure is assuming that you are just out the $3700 you had to front for the offers. Assuming you were able to sign up before they took the mini computer down (which would be fairly easy to resell) and got creative with the other big offer, your total cost comes down to somewhere in the neighborhood of $600. Take the $4075 you netted from your gifts after being taxed (granted, this is still assuming a paltry 15% rate), and you have a profit of MINIMUM $3500. It seems like you're taking a larger risk because of the upfront cash, but you are practically guaranteed to get all but $600 (which is the absolute worst case scenario- you complete offers, but no credit is given) back.

I don't have any idea what the other offers are..... When I did this site I was out about 1200.00 and my 2 big offers were a TOTAL waste of money. One was a MLM scam called burnlounge and the other was another MLM scam called YTB travel. i don't think you should try and tackle a PTP site based on what you have received in the past/future from DIY sites.

i think it should be based on if you have the cash (read job) to work on one and could take the hit financially if it doesn't work out.

even with a decent job, this type of site goes above and beyond the normal (yfd, nuitech and even i-deal) DIY. i'd never dish out that much cash on what should be "trial" offers.

i only meant people who have made enough out of the DIY scene where even if they don't get the gifts, they're still having a healthy net profit.

I'm not saying I'm a pro, because freeipodplayer probably makes 2-3x as much as me (at least this year)...but I'm at least experienced enough where if PTP fucked me, it wouldn't be the end of the world. I have done two of these sites over the past year. Right now I am waiting the required 60 days to request manual for the 2 expensive offers(did club furniture and the OQO computer). My gifts will be the base gift of the Macbook Air, an Imac 24" all-in-one desktop for completeing in one day, a 160gb ipod video for completing one of two select offers on the first page and a $1000 dollar visa card for a seventh offer(did not know about the question on the survey at the time). I spent around $3500 on it...and to the questions sure to follow I did ask if I was allowed to complete this site after doing the first one and was told I could. It is like YFD, different domain names. Also on the first site I did Rooms-To-Go and the YTB offer.

Yes. Usually how loans work is that when you apply for the loan and figure out the amount you want, the monthly payments are made including interest. For both car loans that I applied with from my bank, that is how it worked.

That is how they make the money. You can still pay it off in the first month but you are still going to be paying the interest. I'm not quite sure how this Road Loans offer is but I'm sure it is the same way.

lol

rustvyper

01-05-2008 09:13:21

really? i've paid off a few car loans just by paying the principle. You just get a pay-off quote. That doesn't include insterest. Some banks tried for a while to prohibite you from paying off early, but those lost court cases. Some still charge early pay-off fees, but those are capped on what they can charge. in short, you won't be paying interest...still $7500 is purty steep!

dmorris68

01-05-2008 09:58:22

No, you don't pay the entire term's interest when you pay off a loan early -- you only pay the interest you've accumulated up to that point. When you sign a loan, you are shown what the total amount paid over the term of the loan (3/4/5/6 years, whatever) will be, including interest. However, that interest is accrued over the life of the loan, not all at day one. All but the most shady & predatory lenders allow you to payoff the loan at any time, with no penalties, paying only the interest accrued up until that point.

Interest is compounded daily with most simple interest loans like car loans, so if you pay off a loan 2 weeks after got it, you would only be subject to 2 weeks worth of interest. Now granted, the interest is amortized to the front-end of the loan, with your first payments going mostly to interest, so a 2-week payoff would probably cost you roughly 1/3 to 1/2 of a monthly payment in interest (so, say, no more than $150 of a $300 payment).

rustvyper

01-05-2008 10:21:31

oops, forgot to include that. thanks. That's what I meant at the begining. Pay off the loan w/minimum interest. Still though...now you have a car that's depreciating soon as you pay for it. If you needed a car though...might be a way to kill 2 birds w/one stone

doylnea

01-05-2008 10:57:23

Most of the Loan offers require that you keep the loan for some period of time, so that the originator can get their full interest expectation out of you. That is, you pay the loan plus interest amount for whatever period the loan is written for, whether you pay it off in 2 days, or in 5 years (assuming 5 years is the loan period).

ghounds07

So you're saying these offers penalize you for early payoff? None of the ones I've ever used have done that, including ELOAN, which is backed by RoadLoans. But maybe they have different terms for these freebie offers.

I've had many loans in my life, and I only remember one that had an early payoff penalty (it was a 15-year 2nd mortgage with a minimum 3 year term; after 3 years, no penalty). That said, I never tried to pay one off THAT early -- maybe halfway through the term, when I had already paid most of the total interest anyway.

But typically, my final payoff amounts have been remaining principle + pro-rated interest since the last payment, as far as I can remember. That's why you always have to call to get the exact payoff amount as of the payoff date, because the payoff amount varies -- every day extra you take to pay it off, you accrue another day of interest. If it was always a flat amount (i.e. just the total of your remaining payments, which would include the the whole term's interest) then they wouldn't need to compute pro-rated interest, they'd just ask you to pay the remaining payment total.

That seems a bit sneaky to me. By setting up the loan for the longest possible term, they know most people will get suckered by the lower monthly payment and stick with the longer term, therefore resulting in greater total interest paid. Most of your reputable lenders set the terms of loan to whatever you prefer, while still allowing you to pay it off early.

buying a 04 honda civic hybrid @ around $10k (there's one for sale nearby for 9800 w/104k miles) that chops my gas bill (conservatively) by $2k/yr.
Road loans is offering 36mo @ 7.2%, so that puts me paying roughly over $1100 for a 10k loan w/$300/mnth payments.
Check me here guys, but that means my car will pay the loan interest in the first year, correct?
+...2100 in tax credit, not much, but cover some of the free gift bill
+...2k lowes card, 50in tv (1800), tivo, & 1k or laptop (which I need)

dmorris68

Those figures on the car savings sound about right, but 7.2% sounds kinda high for a 36 month term. Maybe not though, since it's used, but when I was shopping for my daughter's car I was initially shopping for a used Civic until I realized that, due to their high resale, a new one was just a little more than a 3 year old one with low mileage. So I bought her a new 2008 Civic and got a 5.9% for 60 months from both Capital One's Blank Check auto loan as well as Honda Credit (who initially came back at 6.19% but then matched my Capital One offer). 36 months would have been closer to 4.9% probably. Used runs higher on APR, but I didn't remember it being lithatli much higher.

Most likely due to state law banning or regulating certain promotions and contests. Such laws vary wildly across the country. Or perhaps they were sued in that state, and part of their settlement was to cease doing business there. You can be sure it was a legal situation, whatever it was.

Decided to give it a go for the Mac Air/Mac Book Pro/IMac/Ipod combo. Was wanting to replace a couch and get some bean bag chairs for the kids anyways. All of my offers are already listed under "Completed Offers" except the 2 biggies.

I had a question. What are "Action Points". It say i require 6 and I have 0. It seems to imply that you get one for each offer completed.

It's also kind of confusing because the status page has no mention of the bonus ipod, nor the IMAC 24". Just making sure I'm doing everything right.

Just giving an update on my status. 5 offers were at status complete a few weeks back and then went to pending. Now at the 4 week mark, the same 5 went to completed. I went from 0 Action points to 4 Action Points earned. Just the 2 biggies to go!

A word about Lovesac. They used to have free shipping on orders over $1000, but that has been bumped up to $2000. My $1700 order would have cost $400 to ship. So look to spend $2K if you do that offer.

Not to try to convince you to get over your head or live beyond your means, but carrying a balance for a couple months, especially if it's not more than 50% of your available credit, will not significantly affect your credit score. Not only that, but paying it off in a couple months when you recoup your rewards will restore it to the same state it was in before, if not a better state.

Not to mention, as has been discussed before, actively using credit by carrying small balances is often seen more favorably by some lenders than someone who never carries a balance. Particularly with those lenders who analyze your credit usage patterns beyond simply looking at a final score.

I think people get a little too caught up in their credit scores. Once it is past a certain mainstream threshold (say 720-750 for FICO), there is very little to no extra benefit to a higher score. I maintain a high score despite having a lot of outstanding debt, because I've responsibly managed and paid that debt for many years, and still maintain a high available credit ratio.

tylerc

24-07-2008 09:59:42

That's a good point dmorris, thanks. I negotiated a lower interest rate because I was using my main Visa for FullTilt poker deposits, which are cash advances. I called because I was getting like a 22% charge for cash advances, but they lowered it to 20.99% and my purchases finance charge to 15.99%. My credit limit is too high, $4000, for me to ever use more than 10-15%, and even that's usually on the high end.

I bought a Deep Sofa Sactional and 2 KidSacs. Their products are much larger than I expected. The sactional top cushions are still a little warped because of the way they ship them, but they should spring back into full form after a while. The dura foam inside the Sacs smell a bit chemically but I'm sure that'll go away after they air out. The items came in separate shipments over a span of 3 weeks. I didn't get the covers to my sactionals until a week an a half after my bases and sides. Customer service was very responsive when I asked about my order. They gave me all the fedex tracking numbers, but for some reason 2 of them didn't register.

Overall I'd say their products seem high quality and very durable. You get a 3 year warranty on the covers and a lifetime warranty on the sac inserts and the frame. The covers are the real expensive part of the deal. Right now in the clearance section, they are offering some free covers with sac purchase, so those are some really good deals. I noticed some sacs selling on ebay, so there is some resale value on them.

doing an estimate of what you should have received, it can go anywhere from $7850 to $8850 to $9450 (macbooks go for $1999 to $2499 to $2799). guess you did kinda get jobbed based on retail value.

Can you give a link or the model number of the camera you received?

1. sign-up to the mac-air site
2. when completing the initial survey it will ask for your opinion on other promotions they might offer. select the macbook pro - you will get an email for a bullseye bonus, for 2 extra offers you get the macbook pro
3. the imac should be a 24 hour completion bonus
4. the ipod is a special offer bonus

simple, lots of people here cheat the system. ie, LOL EDITTED CUZ CRYBABIES. people try to do it the cheapest way possible and only do offers they can return and get money back from. I'm not saying everyone, but a lot of people lurk on here that don't post. It's a shame really; I don't really blame companies hating people from forums completing their sites. you have people who can somehow do more than 1 PTP site, are doing every YFD and Brandarama site and still somehow have "not repeated offers." BTW, don't just click links on forums and start doing the site. It lets them know where you come from where you sign up, hence them coming here and finding all this shit out. Thought everyone knew that by now...

This post is not directed at people who actually do shit legit. For those of you who don't, you're slowly ruining the scene...

for the record, I haven't done a PTP site but read about the railpass thing on a forum.

tylerc

01-08-2008 07:19:58

Actually, yes. Considering it had been nearly a year since I'd done a free website since I was at college, there were plenty of new offers available, and Brandarama DOES add offers in quite often. I'd be happy to copy and paste the offers if you really want.

RyanG

01-08-2008 08:35:38

i'll pass. after you monitor what sites people have been doing and the amount of offers needed to be completed, you start to figure out who is abusing the system. if you attest to being legit then so be it. there's just too many these days ruining it for the rest of us.

wiebelhaus03

01-08-2008 09:10:50

i believe tylerc did them all legit....i've done almost as many, and now when i look at the bradarama offer list (since i'm planning on doing more of their sites) i see that there are over 15 new offers that i haven't done yet......

and they replied indicating the IMAC was in one box and everything else was in the other box.
Sept 17th Items received! (I live in California so it took a bit longer)

Received more than I expected. Didn't recall seeing Office while doing the site. Never got email for additional bonus like others did previously. Terms changed on June 30th after my signup date. Dunno what exactly changed as I didn't save the old terms.

Thanks for the support. Good luck!

nice haul!!, got a question, 4 of my 6 offers showed up on day 30, obviously the two big ones didn't show up yet (got about 3 weeks to go).
But our bullseye bonus we got through an email from then

Did this happen to you? Ifso were they pretty cool with manual credit?

Mind you, most small claims set a limit on the monetary value of the case. AND the defendant can, atleast in my state, request the trial to a federal court (if I remember correctly, i dont remember which court it was) if the monetary value was over $1500 or so.

You can adjust for FMV if you received something that they inflated the value of.

Say they put a 42" plasma for $3,000 on your 1099. It's only worth $1,500, so if you can include proof that that's what the FMV is, you can adjust your 1099.

i never said it couldn't be done i said you can do it with these 1099s because they report it as they are giving you cash, not like you won a prize on the price is right.

you cant report fmv on a check you got because of inflation.

The problem is, they fucked up.

FULL value prices at apple.com when I got them, is over 600 dollars cheaper than what my 1099 says. A bit bull, don't you think?

Waltmeister

05-02-2009 18:58:03

I got my stuff 2 weeks before they switched to the new Macs. But the point is moot because RTS is right. PTP put the amount in Box 7 Nonemployee Compensation. Which means PTP is considering it as a commission or similar. We can't claim FMV unless it is box 3 Other Income.

I think PTP can do it this way because these are incentive gifts, not something we actually won.

05-02-2009 19:04:00

Folks, keep in mind the FMV adjustment, while allowed, isn't as easy as it sounds.

IRS regulations require that the FMV you're claiming is documented [i75a5d0c17b]as of the time the gift is received[/i75a5d0c17b] and not as of now. You must have and be prepared to bring to audit something [i75a5d0c17b]dated[/i75a5d0c17b] from that point in time showing the lower amount. You can't just look it up now and print something out. If you received something in March of 2008 and didn't capture some proof of lower FMV back then, you'll have a hard time doing so now.

Also, the whole tax processing system is mostly automated. IRS computers already know what 1099s have been reported for you, and if your return matches what they have on record, everything is streamlined and processed quickly. However if things don't match up due to something you've adjusted or failed to report altogether, then it's often kicked out of the automated process and processed manually, resulting in potentially delayed refunds, greater scrutiny of your return, red flags for audit, etc.

If the risk is worth it to you then go for it, just don't underestimate the risks involved.

LucaBella

06-02-2009 06:49:25

Valid points, I think I may have sparked this tax issue and things were left unclear... Yeah you needed proof of the value WHEN YOU RECEIVED the item, and you need to talk to your tax person and explain and have them help you decide how to report what you received and why the price adjustment could be necessary. A simple letter explaining that you did not get cash, but rather computer equipment that was older and not worth the retail they paid months previously, should suffice. However, once again as mentioned...

know what you're doing and the risk that could be involved. I didnt mean to make the whole FMV sound easier than it is.

I didnt mean to make the whole FMV sound easier than it is.[/quote19da5ef634]

To properly adjust the FMV, you have to send other forms into the IRS... blah blah blah.

If it is crazy off, I would, but a few hundred... I wouldn't do it. Too much risk to have them ask where every single deposit in my bank account came from.

[quotef520f7953f="Waltmeister"]I got my stuff 2 weeks before they switched to the new Macs.

I got a corrected 1099-MISC that put the amount in Box 3 today.

So my husband and I are gonna take a trip to Scandanavia, so I did the macbook air site for railpasses and airfare. about $4000 for our trip, which is more than I'd have paid otherwise. I'm supposed to get the macbook air, imac with office 08, 160 g ipod, and $1000 home depot gift card. Do ya think i'll be able to sell that stuff (im keeping the gc) for at least that? If so it'll be like taking a free vacation.

even at full value you would be looking at
ipod - 300
mac air 1700
imac 1800

so if you sell it look at 70-90% return.

I doubt she'll get the new macbook air, I got the old one...when the apple store looked where they bought it from they found it was several months old, so they have several of these old ones stockpiled.....

No, you won't be able to get it free with this setup. You need to find one of their sites where the 1K giftcard is a 2K prize. And, they will send you the old versions of at least one of those macbooks...

pm me if you want to know of their sites with higher payouts...

their 2k lowes site is one of their best imo (although i did do the mac air site thinking i would be receiving 2x mac pro)

I saved the link for the 2K Lowes, and when I tried today it was no longer working, so I did the Mac site

So I'm not getting the iMac since I guess I've signed into a PTP site before for a different promotion but never completed any offers.
Ugg, I finally had a reason to do the site and now I'm only getting the Macbook air, 1000 home depot, and the 160 g iPod. Barely 3K worth of stuff and spent over 4K. I had to add an additional purchase to raileurope, too because they said I was $2 under the minimum required purchase, they counted the cost of the rail protection plan as tax or something. Did anyone do Vayama? The tickets cost over 1000 each, but they seem to include all sorts of fees in the cost of each ticket and i would hate for them to try to pull the same thing with that offer, especially since the tickets are nonrefundable. As long as I end up getting reimbursed for the railpasses I guess I'll be happy, since we were going on vacation anyways but we wouldn't have spent nearly as much on train tickets normally...

thus the reason why many people said not to do ptp unless you are planning on purchasing the stuff in the first place......

heather77

for sure, its definitely not the site to do if you're trying to make a profit.

LucaBella

You did the wrong site from jump, and then they screwed you on the bonus gift...

That's the real issue with PTP these days, in between giving your older less valuable equipment and dicking you around with wait times and requirements not specified in the Terms, they'll also do their best to completely withhold gifts, and as you found out, you can actually get significantly less than you paid for your offers... which manages to both suck and blow.

fortune favors the bold, but once the sites hit the forums they go to crap
