you go to a licensed notary public and have them verify that you're who you are and all that. usually costs a bit of money. cost me ten bucks in san francisco

It cost me 0 dollars at the local bank, I'm pretty sure you can get it done at any bank for free if your an account holder...

yeah i went and my notary wasnt there so i went to another bank i am not an account holder at. They laughed when I asked them how much the fee was.

it's free usually if it's YOUR bank
Otherwise they may charge you NO MORE than $6 or something like that...it's illegal to charge more than that for notary services, unless of course the notary is providing other services.
