Hello all

I just got my MacBook Pro from Nuitech and I want to change it in for a iMac but I did not get a receipt with the shipment. Has anyone returned a MacBook Pro to the Apple store without a receipt and got credit for it. I have a packing slip but I don't think that it will help. THanks for your help guys

Yes, I have heard of people doing it without a receipt. Just say you got it for your birthday from an aunt in another state.

Yeah, retail stores do that all the time, but they might let you only do an exchange without a receipt

It is very rare that this works. Everyone has heard from someone somewhere that it does, but it 99% will not for this reason. Nuitech ordered a whole bunch of these in march, and just dropships them, that is why you get them so fast. When you get to the apple store, even if you get someone who you may be able to convince to do an exchange without a receipt, good luck convincing him to turn the 14 day exchange policy into a 3 month one. I can only imagine how many people have wasted their time trying to do an exchange just b/c everyone tells them to, and I have only seen 1 or 2 people say it actually worked.

i just submited my redemption form for my macbook pro from computer-offer.com (nuitech). Is it possible that they shipped out all of their 1.8 macbookpros and are going to give out the newer 2.0s?

got it notorized and just mailed it today. probably gonna take a week or less to arrive and gonna take 2 weeks to ship? so a good 3 weeks worth of shipping macbookpros will kill their supply of 1.8?? lol

I hope it does. I am about to finish mine as well, and I don't want the 1.83 ghz.

eh, I doubt it, the difference in speed is not that significant. however, if they did run out and they started sending 2.0s, you'd have a much better shot at an exchange.

my friend just returned it for 90% store credit, I returned one for 100%, my sister also for 100%

this is a total YMMV.

it is free to try, and you can come up with a couple of stories and try them over the phone to different apple dealers in your area. If it doesnt work at one, it might work at another.

What stories have you guys used that have worked. There is not an apple store in my town so I need to drive a couple of hours to get to one and I don't want to waste my time. Thanks for your help

Did you have receipts or just the box with the laptop. Also, is there anyone out there who has not received credit when they take their laptop in. All I hear is that people receive credit, not that they got turned away.

they just scan the barcode on the side of the box and make sure it hasn't been opened. If those two things are OK -- then you're pretty much golden unless you get a douchebag supervisor

the best advice I can give is from an episode of seinfeld where George is coaching Jerry on how to pass a lie detector test.

"It's not a lie if you believe it"

Come up with a story. Your grandpa ordered you the macbook pro and wanted to give it to you as a birthday present, he is currently overseas and the reciept is unatainable. There are plenty of stories you can come up with. Try them over the phone, and explain that you are coming in from out of town and make sure they are going to return it, ask to give the barcode over the phone to be sure you don't waste your time. Get the name of the person you talked to, and have them record yours for assurance when you get there.

The more persistent you are the more likely you are to get it accomplished

Did you get the 1.8 or 2.0?

I am just starting DIY sites and I have a friend who works at an apple store. I asked him if it would be possible to exchange the 1.8 for the 2.0 and he said that they probably could not do that.

BUT he also said that if you say you want to upgrade, they could most likely give you the gift card to "upgrade" at a later time. Like go online and buy your imac.

You could even do it as a college student and get a 2gb nano.. and use the mail in rebate to get yourself a 200 dollar check.

i was wondering whether you will receive the value of the MBP of the time u "purchased" it or the value they have for it now?? If they give you store credit.

I did this with my Powerbook, exchanged it for Store Credit (100%), then purchased a Macbook Pro ... straight up. Even exchange.

That statement makes no sense. Dropshipping is the process of ordering directly through a manufacturer and having them ship to your door. You dropship on-demand, not "a whole bunch" at once.

Enjoy!

my invoice said 914.99 and when i went in and returned it to apple, they gave me a giftcard for 1049.99 (999 + tax)

just as a fyi

FYI the macbook pro 2ghz costs 1800 with the college student discount on apple.com

theoretically one could exchange their macbook pro(1.8 ghz) and get $2k store credit, then buy the 2ghz for 1800, use the $200 store credit left over to purchase a 2g nano. Then send in the rebate form and recieve a $200 check.

thats a better laptop a ipod nano, and $200

Supacold

when will the 2g nano promo expire?

Drop shipping can also include prepaying for a whole bunch, and having them shipped on demand. Otherwise, how do you explain a sales date of march, when I received it in june?

When I tried to do this with my ibook I got from nuitech I was rejected by the apple store in kc. They said no way no how both over the phone and in person, I even tried calling the apple online store but they couldnt do anything either.

Supacold

does the macbookpro from nuitech comes with 1 year warranty?

I heard there was alot of overheat issues with the older MBPs and its possible that apple wll replace it if its severe
