After I realized there were no speakers in this monitor, I sent customer service at RedTopSavings this message
[quotece6d4e8cee="RoBsTaMaCk"]I received a Plasma monitor from a delivery company yesterday which I
assumed came from you. However, upon researching the model online I`ve
discovered that you did not actually send me a Plasma TV like your website
had promised. Instead, I have a Plasma monitor which has absolutely no
speakers or TV tuner. Your website inferred that I would be received a
_Plasma TV_ worth around $3000, not a _Plasma Monitor_ worth around $1000.
I`d like to have this remedied as I do not have a stand-alone TV tuner nor
do I have a stereo system to plug into the TV. Please let me know what you
can do for me. As it stands, this is false advertising and I can do nothing
with this plasma monitor.[/quotece6d4e8cee]
Here is the response I got from them (in a matter of hours!)
[quotece6d4e8cee="Molly"]Per the terms and conditions of the site

"We may also add or remove any product listed as an incentive at any time.
If we replace a product, the new product may not be of equal value."

Thank you!

Molly[/quotece6d4e8cee]
Here is my response to her
[quotece6d4e8cee="Molly"]Molly,
That's fine if it's not of equal value. However, the product you listed (Plasma TV) is clearly not what I received. What you gave me is unusable and not what was advertised on your website; I would never gone through the effort to get a mere plasma monitor. I'd be willing to take an actual plasma TV of the same value and send back the monitor you sent me. I'd even be willing to take a check in place of the monitor and send it back. I can't really do anything with the monitor you sent me - there aren't even speakers in it! I would greatly appreciate any help in getting this monitor replaced with something that's usable. Thanks.

I won't give out their email address but I'll keep you all posted on their response and handling of the situation.

it's not like you need a tuner in the plasma though? I mean, I'm assuming you are going to plug in like a surround sound system and a cable box, no?

So Molly is still around and answering e-mails again, eh? Cool. I'm sure her e-mail is probably the same it has always been.

And yeah, I honestly don't know why folks get caught up on speakers for a plasma. I think limostli plasma customers would prefer not to pay for something they'll never use. But then again, different strokes and all... so more power to you. ;) Although I have to predict you're not going to get anything out of it. Some people were DQ'd for what they claim was no reason whatsoever, and all the threats in the world still resulted in a "tough cookies" response or no response at all.

Oh God! roll Here we go again! People complaining about getting a $1200 plasma monitor at a fraction of the cost. Some people are just unbelievable.

I don't see anything wrong with following up. They did promise us an HDTV, and we did meet their requirements.

I don't know about RedTop but back when we all jumped on the CSC Plasma site, it was advertised on the signup page as a "Panasonic Plasma HDTV." I remember because some people questioned whether it would be an EDTV or an HDTV, and I went and double-checked.

I think on later sites they dropped the HDTV part from the Plasma model, but if you go to CSC's main TV site now, they've added a Sony Wega 3LCD model that says HDTV, and Sony doesn't make an EDTV version of the Wega 3LCD. So although it wouldn't be conveniently hanging on the wall like the Panny Plasma I got from them, if I were doing this site now, I'd go for the Sony (well, if it wasn't 10+5 like it is).

The site promised an HDTV - people are getting EDTVs

PC Connection (where the TVs were purchased) sells the Panasonic 42" Plasma HDTV[=http//www.pcconnection.com/ProductDetail?Sku=6036549]Panasonic 42" Plasma HDTV for ~$2200 and sells the Panasonic 42" Plasma EDTV[=http//www.pcconnection.com/ProductDetail?Sku=5982648]Panasonic 42" Plasma EDTV for ~$1500. If I-Deal (or its DBAs) are sending checks in place of the TV, as they have done, why are the checks being mailed in the amount of $2000, as opposed to $1500, since that's the cost of the TV being sent?

Also, as DMorris pointed out, not only did CSC advertise a HDTV, they advertised a TV with tuners...and in fact the CSC still advertises a TV with tuners - and yet those who have received a TV have received nothing more than a monitor...

http/" alt=""/img520.imageshack.us/img="520/5641/csc2fk.png[" alt=""/img10abe559cc]
In sum, yes, those who received a TV received a $1500 TV at a significant discount, but did not receive the TV that was advertised. Can you imagine the uproar if another Freebie site sent a 30GB iPod, rather than the 60GB iPod they promised (an apt comparison)? Everyone would be up in arms. The fact that I-Deal (and its DBAs) are such a pain to get ahold of, and get a response from have lowered expectations to the point where if one gets anything from them, then one has come out ahead. Sad.
