This is a relevant thread for anybody doing an ibook on an DIY freebie site. As you have probably heard, Apple has replaced the ibook with the Macbook.

This is an awesome upgrade for those of us waiting on our ibooks. D

"The lowest-priced model starts at $1,099, runs on a 1.83-gigahertz Intel Core Duo processor, has a 60GB hard drive and a combination DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive."

However, all of this begs the question whether DIY sites will send out MacBooks or checks for $1,000?

if they send a check out for $1,000 then go gather up $100 more and buy a macbook.

also. it might be a little while before people get macbooks, because (at least with IRC) they have a warehouse... my iBook came from some warehouse or something.

The DIY sites are probably not going to want to spend an extra $100, so they'll probably order iBooks from all the dealers that they can pick them off of.. get my drift?

What I'm saying is, expect an iBook.

I probably won't see my "ibook" from YFD until late June. I'm thinking the stock of the ibooks will be pretty depleted by then. I'll be expecting a Macbook. ;-)

You'll be getting iBooks for a while I would think...

I got an ibook from MSG last week (craptastic timing, eh?) and it was purchased for me directly from the apple store... invoices were sent to my email and everything. So it's hard to say.

hmmmmm... I have a 12" PowerBook that is supposed to come from YFD in not too long... that'd be bad ass if they sent me a Black Macbook D I think they should because they were both $1499... that'd be awesome!!!

some stores do and some don't, the only thing for me is, the closest apple store is over 3 hours away... I deff don't wanna drive 3 hours and have them say, Nope, we won't accecpt it without a rececpt... i'd rather them just send me a 13" Black MB

it is gonna be a 15 offer nui-tech when it is found, and for that you might as well do 3 more easy offers and get a MBP, then if you really just want a regular, sell the MBP and buy a MB, and have money left over...

They tried to deliver my macbook this morning, musta heard me bitching....

Woot!

now, the real struggle.. will my money loving heart allow me to open the Macbook, or will it list it on Fleabay before I even wake up???

List it and get the Macbook; save yourself a few hundred bucks. The difference between the two is negligible past the price tag.

I am loooovin' my new MB.

I wondered what the hell is going on with that.. I mean.. what is the diff between the MacBook and the Macbook Pro aside from like.. 900 dollars????

Wolfeman

24-05-2006 01:25:27

One is PRO. I can't wait until they come out with an EXTREME version...

There are plenty of differences between the macbook and macbook pro, the biggest one for me being that the macbook doesnt have a dedicated graphics card, and thus cant play any games really, performing much worse than the previous generation ibooks in any game, while the pro has an excellent graphics card for just about anything

the Macbook Pro. I JUST found out about the standard macbook, so it'll take me a while to remember to differentiate between them.. but its the 1.83ghz Macbook Pro...

Woot!

(still haven't opened it,hehe)

id suggest selling it on fleabay with lightning speed D

Ryizan

28-05-2006 00:26:57

Yes! Sell it quick! Apple no longer makes the 1.83GHZ MacBook PRo. Sell it and buy the 2.0Ghz Mac Book pro. (that's what i would do)

userz

31-05-2006 12:16:30
