i'd like to hear arguments for that, since i'm still fairly n00b at the idea of getting it notarized.

Like it was said before you can get your thing notarized for free.

it'll take you like 5 min tops to get one... not an age limit or anything, just go to your bank and ask if you can have something notorized... not the end of DIY, unless you are doing things illegally and trying to ship them to places that aren't yours...

The end of nuitech because they are trying to keep their customers from getting scammed? I fail to see the connection.

dmorris68

16-04-2006 08:18:44

They're simply using a notary to reduce fraud and guarantee you are who you say. It's not a big deal, especially given the size of the prizes. I'd say it's a GOOD thing for Nuitech because they're taking steps to prevent fraud, which means the legit customers are more likely to get their stuff without the requirements going through the roof, or Nuitech giving up and closing completely.

I dont see a big deal with this. I mean the notarizing is on the w-9 which doesnt really affect anything. The only issues I see is that of people frauding using fake socials and stuff. I just got my voucher notarized at my bank, took less than 5 mins, macbook pro here i come

massman

you get something notorized to prove that your identity was varified by someone without any bias. It's basically a way of proving that the person who signed a document was the actual person, if that makes sense.

It's for security for the company as well as the end user.

If anything this will keep the sites open longer since there will be less fraud...

i can get free notaries, and even paying $10 is still worth the gift

dropitlikeitshizzot

17-04-2006 16:04:40

It's also one more step in the process -- another hoop to jump through -- which could only increase their breakage rates. Although, if you have your voucher in hand and you are too lazy to go seek out a notary, you really don't deserve a free gift. lol

didn't realize how old this thread was, but i just did my first DIY site (gasonus, or something) and it was one offer (Great Fun)...printed the shit out...went down to the bank, didn't fill anything out and she just told me she had to watch me sign it....not fill out my address or nothing

it was quite easy, took 3 minutes tops

Its also probably a way to weed out a few more people from from redeeming because some people wont know how to get something notarized.

But if you cant follow all the steps you dont deserve the prize

The real question is... Who thinks the public school system has failed?

Everyone else said it... if you're worried about getting things noterized... You're probably a scammer... and if you don't know how to google the question "how do I get things noterized" and yet you were smart enough to navigate through surveys and complete several offers to get a free gift... That qualifies as being just dumb enough to not deserve the gift in the first place.

You don't see the irony in someone ripping someone for being dumb about notaries and spelling notarize wrong? It's like someone calling out another poster for making a dumb comment about a tropical fruit but acutally.....never mind.
