I truly don't think that Gratis has the time nor manpower to monitor all these "IP issues, etc" with every single account on every one of their sites....but then again, you never know. ?

most schools do not use private addresses. they own blocks of ip's and every computer on their network is using one of those ips. you and your roommates will all have different public ips, so i wouldnt worry too much. however, if you installed a small router, theen you guys will more than likely be sharing one address. this will set off a flag in their scripts

^ are you sure? If I go to whatsmyip.com from my room it's the same as if I go there when I go to the computer lab.

what school do you go to? is it smaller? what is the first 2 octets of your ip address? (i.e. if your ip address is 192.168.1.200 then it would be 192.168)

IANA has designated these subnets as reserved network
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255 (10/8 prefix)
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255 (172.16/12 prefix)
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 (192.168/16 prefix)

Yeah, it's smaller.
It's 12.13.XXX.XXX
It seems to have changed since the last time I checked it.

Then you are screwed. But you said it changed so its dynamic. Just start writing them down when you sign up and your roomies can sign up when it changes to one you havent used before.
