[bc10722cc29]About half an hour ago, I was in the process of talking to people who witnessed the topics at anything4free being deleted one by one! This is horrible, because that's over 1700 members with Conga Spots lost!
I Just got word that Gearlive is hit as well!

Anyways, back to the topic at hand, anyone have any updates on this? I IM'ed a few mods as it was happening, and they were just as socked as I was.

gearlive was hacked by an amatuer from what i hear they used a keylogger to get in. not sure if they had key logger on forum or on a mods computer.

How easy is it for these guys to decode a password? If that's all it takes, I guess the best thing to do is entirely back up the database.
If I were to back up my phpbb directory, would that store the posts as well?

no, phpbb dir only contains php files and some others. you need to backup your database to save posts.
