I have been scammed twice already and am feeling like dog crap... I am starting to lose hope of ever getting an iPod. Does anyone have any advice or encouragement that will help me to stay in the game? This is all making me a sad panda...

I know how you feel. I know I've been scammed and to be honest, I feel like it's my fault because I didn't keep a good record on the first few days I did. (

The only advice I can give is get your pals to sign-up for you, too. That could help you get some referrals. Stick with people who are experienced traders - get e-mail addresses, AIM names, etc., of the people you are working with.

A few individuals always asked me to forward my confirmation e-mail along to them from the offer - you could surely do that before you go green, when you become an experienced trader working with newbies.

Good luck!

I think pretty much everyone gets scammed on their first few sites, happened to me on freeipod and freedesktoppc

Nah. You just gotta be smart and alert of the scammers out there. I haven't been scammed yet P

If they read the stickys on the top of the traders forum then they should be.

I'm not sure what to say other than it happens to just about everyone. Generally, I make unknown traders go green first, and don't accept IMs from people on the forum unless they say "I will message you as X."

I also get a lot of mileage out of recording IM conversations. Trillian does this automatically, so it's easy to confront someone with their own words.

Happened to me once, and I hope never again. I dont do trades through IM's anymore, or with anyone who sounds like they are 14. You can never be 100% sure, but best bet is to do it with a good trader. Your trade with me will go through though, I promise )

I agree Adam. I got scammed by Evon, the bum who posted here before. Paid him $30 to do like 3 different sites (I was stupid enough to pay him first). He never did them, and my PayPal complaint is pending, so we'll see what happens.

I got scammed once by Keen311, though I was being kinda stupid.

As far as words of encouragement go, just keep on your toes and you should be fine. I've been here for around a month and have almost completed nearly five sites now, and I'm sure there are more devoted people who've done faster!

Might want to do something besides freeipods though unless you know people who can sign up and most likely have not done it (i.e., people who rarely use the Internet). You would probably have an easier time getting referrals for mp3players4free (note the "-er" suffix) and an even easier time getting ones for tech4free. Or you can just do something that gives cash like dvrs4free or one of the Coobro ones and buy an iPod yourself ;)
