I never thought it'd happen to me but it did. It was only insured with liability so I don't get any insurance compensation. If the police can't find it I'm gonna have to spend ALL of my money on a new car.

Damn dude what kind of car was it? My friend just had his car stolen a few months ago. It was an integra but turbod and had about $8k invested into it.. Turned up a day later completely stripped in the city. Thieves are the worst.

Hopefully it was just a joyride ditch, and it'll turn up somewhere!

I usually park in the apartment complex parking garage but I didn't stop by to pick up a new pass, so after coming back from dropping a friend off at the airport, I just parked it on this brick road behind my apartment complex right under my apartment with a full view of it from my livingroom.

My roommate and I were talking about how we needed groceries earlier today so we head out to my car... but there was no car. (

Yeah TJ, I'm really hoping it was a joyride too. Doubt it though. Looks like I'll be getting a job and hitting up craigslist for a new car.

Quadracer89

J4320

17-08-2009 22:17:55

Black '97 Honda Accord. |

Leather interior, V6, etc. It's my 1st and only car and it's been awesome ever since I bought it with very little problems.

tylerc

Did you leave it unlocked?

J4320

Nope it was locked for sure. I always always always leave it locked. I'm sure my Honda Accord isn't hard to break into.

Quadracer89

18-08-2009 08:26:20

Oh yeah.. Trust me i know a thing or two about Hondas. Hate to break it to you, but it wasn't a joyride and if it was, id be totally surprised. Honda's are the easiest car to break into, and their parts are always in high demand all over. All you need is a flat head and a hammer, and you can get it to turn over..

What i suggest is you keep your eye out on craigslist for any parts that could be yours. If the car does turn up, i can almost 95% guarantee that it will be trashed and stripped.

When my friend had his integra stolen, like i said it turned up a day later on a side road in irvington, NJ. Cops had it towed to a local impound yard. My friend went down there to go see what he could salvage, and the fucking tow company had the balls to charge him almost $250 for towing the car and impound fee. So pretty much he had to pay to get his car stolen. It sucks man, but its an eye opener. Their are lowlife theives in this world who dont give a shit about other people.

You're totally right. I should just start looking for a new car right now. cry

This totally sucks. I'm gonna be in so much debt now. But I haven't let it consume me because there's nothing positive in that and dwelling on it doesn't do anything. It just means that I'm gonna have to work that much harder which is something I need.

I walked ~12 miles today, and during half of those miles I was carrying a big bin of supplies. On my way back this one girl was walking across this parking lot and she said, "Wow you walk fast! I saw you [i5b8fdff89f]way[/i5b8fdff89f] back a while driving a while ago."

I guess I could have taken the bus but the people in it are stinky. lol j/k but srsly I need [i5b8fdff89f]every[/i5b8fdff89f] cent for another halfway decent car.

Nooooo! Dont go from a honda to a gay vw!! Lower priced vw's always are sketchy. If you are going to look into it, most jetta's need their water pump / timing belt done at around 100k.

Just remember, volkswagons are expensive as hell to fix..

[quote2987c97307="Quadracer89"]If you are going to look into it, most jetta's need their water pump / timing belt done at around 100k.[/quote2987c97307]
That's pretty standard with any recent car. Most mfgs of interference engines specify anywhere from 60K to 120K. Toyota and Honda specify 90K for their late models, 60K for older models. Even Nissan, who went to timing chains instead of belts for more durability, still specify service from 60K to 105K depending on model. I pushed my luck before having my Toyota's done at 115K (and had them change the water pump while they were in there, since it was minimal extra). That's one preventive maintenance item you don't want to cheap out on, waiting for something to "happen" first, because when it finally happens with an interference engine then you'll usually need to replace the entire engine. OTOH if you're driving a pretty old car that's only worth a couple thousand or less then it's hard to spend almost $1K on a timing belt change (unless you can do it yourself), so I could understand just gambling on it.

I've heard that some newer engine designs have "lifetime" timing belts/chains, but have no idea what they're in.

I'm so sorry to hear about your honda accord.
If you were just one more year above (1998) then it wouldn't have gotten stolen unless they had a key.

The 98's and above models are designed so that people can't hotwire the car and steal it...it's impossible.

The police found it. Copypasta from facebook because I don't want to type it out twice.

The guy ripped out the ignition bypassing the lock system, jammed a screwdriver in it, started it, drove off, took A TON of stuff from my car including my GPS, ripped out the head unit and took it, and went through my CDs but didn't take any (I guess rock music wasn't his style).

He wasn't a very smooth criminal as he put tons of nice finger prints on the mirror while adjusting it (very distinct because his hands were dirty from handling the ignition with the grease in it and all). I'm not gonna bother pursuing it though. I got a new head unit from car toys today and I got a car alarm + keyless entry installed that deactivates the ignition when broken into. ... Read More

I'm SO glad they didn't part it out with the V6 and all.
