Can anyone inform me? I was wanting to get a new car and I was going to get like a $5k loan but I'm not sure how it all works. Also is it possible for someone out of state to get a loan or co-sign for one? My dad is driving in from California.

the bank gives you money to buy a car
you use that money to buy a car
you make smaller incremental payments to the bank to cover the original loan plus interest
bank makes profit and you get a car

If I were you I would check a couple places. Check a bank and I would suggest trying a Credit Union. They typically give better rates. Especially now, and if your bank received any cash from the government bailouts. You father should be able to so-sign, I don't think that would be a problem. As for having it in his name, that would probably depend on the financial institution. The process will probably take a few days, so be patient. I'm sure all institutions have there own set of rules, so we can't really give you too much info, just ideas. Either way, I would say check with multiple places (or even just ask people you may know), and be patient.
