I'll try it...

Yeah sounds cool. Hopefully the beta's out before I go to work tomorrow otherwise I won't be able to work productively knowing it's out and I can't use it.

can't wait!

here's a comic book entry about it.

I'm using it now to post here - seems faster than firefox, but with only 3 minutes of browsing so far, not too much else has jumped out at me, beyond what I'd read on the blogs and in the reviews yesterday.

I'm about to go to school, but I'll check it out when I get back.

I'm using it. I think it's pretty nice. Very clean. I do miss the Firefox bookmark toolbar though...

CollidgeGraduit

02-09-2008 14:37:35

I'm using it as well... nothing to make me switch out of FireFox. I absolutely love FoxMarks, so that's kind of a deal-breaker right now.

bballp6699

02-09-2008 14:59:14

I found the bookmark toolbar. I think I'll go back to Firefox, but I love Google, so I'll try it for a bit.

EatChex89

02-09-2008 16:17:48

As soon as I can run ChaCha on it, I'll switch over to test it out more. But for now, I'm with Firefox. Chrome might be too simplistic for me.

theysayjump

03-09-2008 00:18:30

I've been using it for a few minutes and I'm more impressed than I thought I'd be.

It's ridiculously fast but the lack of AdBlock is hurtin'.

Of Topic, but are you a ChaCha search helper? I did that for a little while, but after hours of sitting at my computer and only being able to help a few poeple makeing just a few dollars, i was like....screw this. lol... maybe i will try to log in again..

Back on topic, does anyone have any screens of the new browser?

DRay9911

there are screens and reviews over at gizmodo.

I've been running it this morning as well, and unless they do something ground-breaking, I don't see a point in switching yet.

doylnea

03-09-2008 08:00:59

The lack of extensions is what prevents me from switching, but it is insanely fast, compared to either firefox or IE.

bballp6699

03-09-2008 08:25:34

Only gripe I have about it so far is that my finance pages don't auto update... (yahoo, etc)

I don't use any Firefox add-ons, so I don't have a problem with that. I'm sure they'll add that ability though.

I just installed this and have been going around in it for a while... I am not seeing any of the speed increases. It seems to be operating quite slower than firefox or IE. EXTEREMLY plain too. Nothing to really to be amazed at.. yet, at least.

I don't do searches, I transcribe voice questions to text.

Also, one thing i DO like is the fact that you can take web applications and make them into shortcuts on the desktop then it can open it right up.

I have GMail and Google Calendar set as applications.

I'm very impressed and notice a huge speed increase and a lot of features that firefox was lagging. Well maybe not lagging (wow, i mean lacking), but I like how GWB will highlight the box youre typing in, and I think the saved passwords is a greatly better (yep) then FF.

The one problem I have is that I have a laptop with a touchpad and a scroll on it, and the scroll goes down half the page with just one small touch...... I'd say it has all the same greatness as firefox (well, until all the things like roboform and such are able to be used on it).... I think I'll keep it.

Oh yeah, does nobody like the "speed dial" like oprea has, but instead this programs itself to most visited websites? I think that's badass.

theysayjump

I've been using this all day now and I've only used Firefox once. If they can add some of the features of Firefox I'll be sold.

Oh wow, so i just looked at the new format of ChaCha. I was a guide like 2 ago when it was just a search engine with guides helping you search the web, but i havent gone to the site in a long time. I guess i am no longer a guideP i may have to reapply. when did it become all text message and call based?

I'm using Chrome set to open all my Google apps into tabs, then I use FF for general web browsing. It looks like

ygf, you should actually read the ToS rather than regurgitating what you read somewhere else.

The original Chrome EULA copy & pasted text from other Google products. I could tell that immediately upon reading the "offensive" passage because it doesn't read like a browser product at all. Today (or yesterday) the Chrome project manager confirmed it was a c&p error and said they were fixing it ASAP.

This is my last reply in this thread regarding ChaCha as I refer you to the thread dedicated to ChaCha.[=http//forum.freeipodguide.com/viewtopic.php?t=51881]thread dedicated to ChaCha.

The new format has been in existence since early 2008. See wikipedia.

I just discovered the tabbing options with Chrome. How you can take a tab from an open browser window and drag it out and make it its own window and vise versa.. tahts pretty cool.

theysayjump

04-09-2008 21:27:29

Yeah that is pretty sweet. I'm still using it and have only touched Firefox once in the last two days.

I like the Incognito feature but I'd rather have the option to open in a new tab instead of a window. It's also pretty nice how in this Quick Reply box you can drag it to make it bigger or smaller.

Google just finds a way to dominate every aspect of the online realm. I think we will see a lot of extensions and mods for this browser very soon. Good for Google.
