Las Vegas Anyone?

I'm heading to Las Vegas on the 4th of July. Want to get some suggestions of things I should do while i'm there if i'm not playing poker the entire time...

Anyways, I will be there till the 9th, and will have just turned 21 on the 1st, so its gonna be like a 5 day birthday party for me!

Were you at the Hard Rock before the 12th at all? I was there for The Sex Pistols concert on the 7th. It looked like a festival in there . It was the only US stop on the tour so people from all over the country came out for it.

The Hard Rock is great, but go there at night not during the day. The whole place is under construction so its alittle messy right now, but its still the best "party" casino.

I've always liked the Luxor the best, when I moved out here my family and I stayed there for 4 months while our house was being built.

If you get sick of the casino scene during the day, check out the fashion show mall, theres alot of interesting stuff there besides shopping, and definitely the best place to pick up girls during the day. Plus its probably the only mall where you can buy and consume alcohol inside the stores.

On the 3rd I will be at the house of blues inside Mandalay Bay for the Rancid and Aquabats concert. Hit that up if you like that kind of music. or just wanna do something alittle diffrent.

I've lived in Las Vegas for a long time, let me know if you have any questions about anything.

Nope just there the night of the 12th. After dinner we checked out the hotel a bit. Played some slots. I lost my wallet sitting at a slot machine. Luckily a security guy picked it up. I had just gotten a 100 dollar bill from my godparents shock I'll admit the alcohol could've had something to do with it o
The week I was there it was actually pretty cool. Like low 90's. It was also not really crowded in general.

yea, my brother went to the UFC event, I was too busy playing poker though...

I showed up in vegas with $193, and within 5 min of gambling I had $1800... So it started off great! From there it was up and down, high point of about 2400 low point of 1400 and I ended with just over 1800, so a pretty good birthday present!

I got drunk a lot, and meet a lot of cool people!

What games did you play, im headn there on the 28th of this month, i need some good advice. As you can tell i havent been there before

I mainly played poker, but got very lucky on roulette (close to the worst odds in the casino) when I got there. Played some craps, lost money there, played some blackjack, lost money there, played some slots, won money there, and mainly played poker, lost a little there...

The only major advice I can give you is to not gamble with what you can't afford to lose, casinos aren't set up for the player to go away a winner, keep that in mind.

Craps is fun if you can get a good roller you can make some money, many casinos offer craps lessons. (gold cost at 1130AM daily)

Blackjack has the best return % if you play your cards by the "book". In the gift shop of many casinos you can get a blackjack card that tells you how to play for perfect odds for a few dollars.

Roulette is a just a luck game, no real skill. I went for the kill early on and won. It has 38 combinations of numbers and pays 351 on an individual #, 21 on odd/even and red/black, 31 on any of the 1/3rd bets. So the house is getting somewhere around an 8% average on bets.

Slot machines to me are about not risking much, and setting cashout limits if you get up. That is about all there is to it, find machines with progressive payouts, always play max credits, machines closer to entry ways are generally looser.

If you are a poker player, don't get in over your head. Play low limits unless you play a lot. The regulars prey on tourist who think they can play poker well, stick to limit if you want to get into a game to try it out, you will have less decisions that are very hard to make (because it is a small amount instead of a decision for all of your chips) and you will be able to play a lot longer with less skill necessary.

That is about all I can say about gambling, just make sure you are having fun with the money you "invest"

But seriously, most are tourists who do NOT want to lose money, so if you bet hard they will fold and you will get there chips. (best to do this on teh turn or river).

i'm sorry but i'm gonna have to call you out on this...

That would be a decent strategy except for the fact that if you bet out every time you have a decent hand, someone will wake up with a monster and take all of your money. Being aggressive is the right way to play poker, but not to just bet hard with everything...

Maybe you just need to be more specific with your post, but to say "Bet Hard" and you will force people out is not the way to play poker...

Your right,. You do wnat to pace it,... you want to be smart about your poker, more so , instead of bet hard, maybe mor so play aggressively.
