Mine was breaking my wrist and having the bone sticking up almost penetrating my skin. It wasn't THAT bad though. I think I've actually had it pretty easy so far compared to most people.

I've never broken a bone, got a single stitch or had to go to the hospital. So, I figure when I finally do, I'll likely go into cardiac arrest. (

CollidgeGraduit

21-05-2008 02:21:08

Probably right before I went in for surgery to remove my appendix, though I caught it very early on. Symptoms started around 8am at work. Very minor pain above my stomach, slowly migrating to right above the appendix.

I left work at 11am, drove myself over to the U of M hospital in Ann Arbor (about 30 mins away.. but the ones closer to me are pretty sketchy), parked in the parking structure, and walked to the ER. The docs and nurses couldn't believe how early I figured out what it was. They said I had probably at least a full day before it would have burst

By 4-5pm, the pain was getting pretty intolerable. By 6pm, I was in surgery, and I was home by 10am the next day.

The pain right before the surgery was by far the worst I've ever felt, like getting stabbed with a knife and it being twisted.

Worst pain I had was when I was about 5 years old. I broke my leg in a very bad place. It was a gigantic bone above my knee. Damn that hurt. It took over 6 months to sort of heal, and to this day my left leg is not the same.

This one time I ate some bad sushi and got the worst stomach pain imaginable. It was like when you get really bad diarrhea. That pain that you get right before you explode. It was like that, except there was no such exploding. It went on for like 4 hours...

Sorry, that's the best I got. No broken bones, no stiches, no surgery...

i kid, i kid

this time last year i had serious pain running down my right side, from my ass down to my foot.

after months of poor posture on my desktop, twisted a certain way and reaching for the mouse, i developed a herniated disc that ended up pinching one of the nerves. walking was an adventure and at it's worst made it impossible to sleep.

i finally got around to going to the dr and had an mri. they gave me three different drugs for the pain and swelling around the disc. i stayed off the desktop for a while and a month later i got my laptop (which kept me off the desktop even more). by the end of july, i was pretty much back to normal.

waking up from rotator cuff surgery to a massive full-body allergic reaction to demerol - one of the narcotics used to knock me out. i had hives all over my body. i screamed for 15-20 minutes, demanding morphine, which was denied because i was still waking up and a dose of morphine would have stopped my heart

I had an alergic reaction to demerol as well. I didn't get hives. I was sweating like crazy and shaking. I went out once and woke to the dr trying to get to come around by driving his knuckles into my sternum. They gave me something else to try and counteract it.

Nothing too serious. As a teen, I had some lower back problems that meant occasional bursts of pain (very short but very intense). Felt like getting shot for about 3 seconds, then left me barely able to walk for a few hours. The orthopedist I saw never really gave me a suitable explanation.

When I was about 10, I broke my own sternum by playing around with it with my fingers.

I was on the playground wondering what the fuck this little bone moving behind my chest was, and pulled on it. Heard/Felt a scraping, then a huge pain, and I couldn't breathe... pushed it back into place. It hurt to breath for like a month, never bothered to tell anyone about it, now I can feel it tilted to the left.

A binder fell off a shelf, onto my shoulder and WHAMMED against my ear, splitting the cartilage (sp?). Sounds minor but fricking HURT like a mofo. Well, I've given birth 3 times!! The first 2 came so quick that I didn't have time to get an epidural or any pain medication of any kind. Talk about PAIN~WOW!! With my 3rd one, I found out I was dilated at my last office visit and went to the hospital just a few hours later so I could be sure that I got an epidural. I could have had 10 kids if I had an epidural everytime. But, now I have chronic back pain~go figure!

22-05-2008 21:36:51

When I had lyme disease, every single day for 10 days straight I had a 103 - 104 fever. Couldn't eat or take any pills, or else i'd violently throw up, couldn't sleep (when I did manage to get a few hours of sleep, I would sweat like you wouldn't believe). Eventually I passed out from dehydration and had to go to the hospital and get hooked upto an IV. I would say that was the worst pain i had ever gone through.

Other then that, this year I hit this kicker snowboarding, flew backwards and landed on my head knocking myself out. I also fucked up my wrist really bad. I went to get x-rays and they didn't see any breaks, but to this day my wrist still hurts. And this happened back in January.

If you like really really tense suspense and a feeling of nervous fear through a whole movie, then yeah, it's good, however, because it was based on a true story [spoilerd32e609ac0]the ending was really open and doesn't give you an answer as to who the people were, why they did what they did, or anything you really want to know about what happened. I haven't really contributed to this thread. This video on Digg/Break reminded me though. I had this same exact surgery done. Had an ingrown toenail for a long time, then finally saw a podiatrist to get permanent surgery done.

What they do is cut off the excess toenail (the part that's cutting into the side) and put some stuff on the sides so it doesn't grow there again. It hurt like a son-of-a-bitch, but now I don't have to worry about it again. That's probably the worst pain I've experienced, but the plantars warts I used to have were also pretty bad ?

Good thing is...doctor said I didn't need the thing anyway so I get to save on my hosptial bill! And also...I didn't get a drop of blood on the laptop! WOOT! And I'm high off oxy cotton right now to numb the pain in my arm.

I've never had drugs before...but I think I like them!!! lilmaoli

oxycontinli

be careful with that stuff though, that's basically heroin in pill form.

Worst pain I had was a skateboarding accident a few years back.

I was getting ready to land off a rail and I landed sideways off the board. I don't know what i did but somehow 80% of the cartilage in my knee popped out and was floating around in my leg for a while.

I also broke my wrists 3 times.

I know, I'm being careful...even though I'm feeling good off this stuff still, they tried to come in here and give me more of the stuff. I told them no!

I've read the stories though about oxy addiction and what its made off but thats for the warning!

I've never taken it medicinally, or used it for recreational purposes, people get hooked on pills too easily. The only major painkiller I took was Vicodin for my wisdom teeth, and even that I only took a couple times.

Yea, I can see why!

This stuff had me seeing purple bunnies there for a second about 3 hours ago. I mean, they were talking to me and everything! It was freaking me out man!!! lilolli

But yea, I haven't felt any pain in my arm since they gave me the pill so I'm not complaining. It hurt like a motherfucker!

I heard meth is the stuff though that will REALLY have seeing stuff.

tylerc

01-07-2008 18:50:36

Yeah, if you want to most likely ruin your life, you could try meth.

ESMcCready

Yea I rather not...ANY drug can ruin your life!

01-07-2008 19:46:53

Yea, I have a friend who was on it who now is off it. He was lucky and he's back on track. His mouth really is the only thing that is worse for wear...

J4320

01-07-2008 21:19:55

Hallucinating on meth is not a normal thing. It's possible and it's happened but it's not a major effect of meth and I doubt it's very extreme. Using meth to hallucinate would be extremely stupid lol.

My friend said he saw an armadillo appear in his living room and started talking to him

They has a 30 minute agrument over what sex position is better...

And I think I'm about to call my nurse for more oxy...my arm is starting to KILL me!

tylerc

01-07-2008 21:29:58

You're already hooked... lilolli

J4320

01-07-2008 21:32:28

Don't spend the $25 I gave you on oxy or you'll never get my offer done. liLOLli

ESMcCready

01-07-2008 21:42:28

Well J43, I get it for free techinally since I'm in the hospital right now.

And TylerC, I AM NOT! It's been what...12 full hours since I took my last dose and I've been working through the pain for the past hour so I'm ready for more pain killer!

An IV needle going deeper then its suppose to hurts like hell!

J4320

01-07-2008 21:44:24

Hmmm I wouldn't want oxy for that long. I haven't been reading threads too extensively but... why are you in the hospital?

ESMcCready

01-07-2008 21:47:53

I started kemo today. There's a softball sized tumor on my ovary...again! lirolls eyesli

I didn't want them cutting on me so I'm going through about 3 weeks of inpatient treatment. Only small doses so I should be good.

If it comes back again though after I go recession, I'm going to have my ovary whacked off. It's not the killing kind of cancer but the rapid growth can cause me health issues if I don't take care of it.

tylerc

01-07-2008 22:50:20

You should really consider moving to get medicinal marijuana. Read around its effects with chemo, it stimulates appetite and relieves nausea.

ESMcCready

01-07-2008 22:56:26

Yea...the nausea part is HORRIBLE!

But I got some extra pounds I need to shed so there's a plus side to that for me right now lilolli

I'm feeling happy again! Gotta love that pill man!!! I think though, after the pain killer wears off this time, I'm going to ask for a sleeping pill. I've basically been up for almost a day and half now and I can't get to sleep.

I've never been able to sleep when admitted
