So as some of you know, I do a bit of combat sports. This weekend I competed in a grappling tournament at
TriStar[=http//www.tristargym.com]TriStar in Montreal. It was a no gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) event. I am mainly a submission arts wrestler, but I do know some BJJ. I competed in the 205lbs division. There were 6 of us in that division. Here is my first round match.

I know my wife didn't get a shot of the score card, but the final score of that match was 9 - 0 for me. D Because there was I had the largest point spread of the 3 first round competitors, I was given a bye right to the final match. This was the gold medal match. Unfortunately, I made 1 major mistake right from the get go and was never able to recover.

So I was given the silver medal. I was hoping for the gold, but I am happy with it nonetheless. All gold and silver medalists were given an invitation to an absolute champion tournament. This is a contest spanning all weight classes and all skill levels. You could have a total beginner 155 lber going against a blackbelt super heavey weight. It's a very interesting thing. Anyways, I entered and had a bad draw. The guy I fought, ended up with the Absolute silver medal. So I don't feel too bad. Here it is.

I am looking forward to my next tournatment. D I have done better each time. Last was a bronze this time a silver. I guess gold is next!

Congrats on the silver man!
I don't know shit about this stuff, but in the last fight it didn't seem like you were doing that badly but then did you get tired or something? It's like he just waited for that and then got you.

I wasn't tired at all. He had total control with the arm bar. You can see just before he got it, my arm was hanging out. Big no-no. If I had kept it tight to my body, I may have been able to work my way out.

Ya I was really hoping for that submission. I worked on that. Everyone thinks when you take a guys back, you will go for the choke. Oh well, I came close. If I could have extended, I would have had it.

You probably would have gotten flipped if you went for the choke. It was a nice idea.

Nah. I had my hooks in. If he had of flipped, I would have stayed on his back.
Got a new tourney coming up in 12 days in Granby Quebec. D
