kay so I am getting about $600 in freebie money. I have about $800-$900 to spend on a used Macbook Pro or hell even a nice black Macbook if it has good specs. I am looking for any size but atleast a C2D at around 2.0 ghz. I saw some on craigslist that turned out to be scams at $600 so thats where I had my original price set from. Anybody here know where to get them cheap? Also I want to make sure I don't get ripped off I have seen those foreign importers and such offer low prices but I am wary about those. So yea it can be either a MB or MBP with decent specs and don't tell me to save up any more or go to ebay ect I want some real results here. Thanks.
Sorry if this is the wrong place for this.

To be honest with you, I would just save up a couple $100 more and buy it new. Buy it from macmall.com to save a few bucks, or I recommend Apple direct and using a student discount (assuming you are a student) or maybe the company you work with has an employee program.

Buying it used, you aren't sure what you are getting. And I wouldn't buy any laptop used as you aren't guaranteed with how much life is left in it. Even if it's newer, the user could have beat the shit out of it (strain) and then you're toast when it dies. Besides, the new ones come with a 1-yr warranty which is a pretty damn good warranty.

Other than that, if you are set on getting it used, craigs list and ebay are your best bets. If from Craig's list, don't buy it and have them ship it, I would inspect it first, at least with eBay you get a sort of guarantee (if eBay wants to hold to it and that's another story in and of itself).

Basically, buy it new to cover your ass and essentially save yourself time/hassle in the long run.

i bought my MBP used on ebay... I'm not sure if you are saying you have a total of 800-900 or you have 800+ the 600 you are getting...

If you only have 800-900 I doubt you will find a decent MBP, I know mine is the first version and it is worth much more than $900...

Always buy brand new!

and always extend the warranty! Trust me.... things can go wrong anytime! I am glad I extended my X360 warranty when it overheated on me (not ROD) while playing Call of Duty 4 for I don't know how long.. maybe 10 hours! lol

I understand but I am not a master freebie person like you so funds are limited.

Hah yes I put it on the .GIFurl==http://=http:///url thread, I found it on myspace while browsing for videos and the guy actually uses it as his profile picture, very classy!
