What do people think of this? good service? Good selection of songs?
I am choosing between completing this and Gamefly. I think I'd get way more use out of this though.
Legit company? Any problems?
Do the songs have DRM on them? OR are they clean mp3s I can just load onto my ipod.
I'm trying to be extra careful lately about offer selection.
Thanks for your input.

I liked it. Selection is a bit limited IMO. It's legit. And I believe they are clean mp3's... I think. Either way it's a great offer

Assuming each person here has only completed it once...how would one go about calculating a "percent credit" for this offer?
Anyway, I thought emusic was great. I was able to download a few "lost" albums, as well as a few newer ones. Also, the downloads were surprisingly fast.
Rating A- (Selection is somewhat limited)

What the?!?!?!?
I just did this on Trainn. It said offer complete. I got no login, no password information. NO EMAIL?????
So how am I supposed to use this site.
I go to forgot password (never got one) use the email I used to register and I'm told "No account with the given email exists, please try again."
Christ. what gives?

I had a friend with the same problem. The process going from registration to actual use of the site is a bit illogical (to say the least).

It won't recognize my email address?
This is ridiculous. It wasn't free either, it cost $10.
I love the lack of confirmation email. Which would make it impossible to get credit. Who takes a credit card order and doesn't immediately send an email?
TravMan162

That happened to me too. I got the confirmation email a few days later and in it you set up the password that you can use on the site. It takes a couple days to get it though for some weird reason.
It would be a good offer if the selection didn't blow. It's only got all that new age hippie crap you hear in starbucks. Couldn't find any good rock music... Seether, Foo Fighters, Incubus........ Nothing.. but i bet if you want India Aryie you could find a bunch P P P

ewwww. Well I'm signed up. Maybe it'll let me get 30 ebooks instead of 30 songs per month. That's I'd be interested in.
What a piece of crap though. Seriously...you pay $10 to sign up for something and...nothing?!?!
thanks for the reply travman

As far as music, it's mostly independent stuff you've never heard of, although there are a few artists there who've hit mainstream. I signed up as a DIY offer, for I-Deal I think. After seeing the music selection, I didn't figure I'd stay past a month or so, but then I found their Comedy section. I'm a huge standup fan, and unlike with music, the have ALL the big comedy names. Lewis Black, Richard Pryor, Carlin... even Mitch Fatel, my favorite young comic today. So I stayed for a few months, long enough to snag several comedy albums. They're DRM-free so you can play them anywhere.
If their music selection was better, of if I were into experimenting with new artists (I'm not), then I'd probably still be a member.

I always get e-music advertisements for 50-free songs in PC World Magazine or something, and I always wondered if it was worth signing up for.

Its not a bad service. I'm currently using it right now. (completed the offer from a Brandarama site)
I'm contemplating keeping it past the trial. It has a good amount of bands that I like on there. We'll see. I have until the end of the month to decide. )

did you get it right away?
I emailed customer service and it says I'm not in their database?!?!
They billed my card. I have their number I'm going to call on monday and raise hell.
I should have done gamefly.
Berky34
09-02-2008 22:34:31
No need to raise hell about it, just be nice and explain your situation. If they billed your card can't you give them the transaction ID?
TravMan162

Honestly, just give it a day, I know, it's stupid, but it seems to be taking a day or two to register for everyone.
You should have immediate access, but for some strange reason, it's not working out so hot. No need to raise hell, they're just not as organized as they should be ;) ;) ;)

Just got my log-in info email!
hahahahah
Seriously though, this company has their heads right up their ____
I contacted customer service and even though I provided my name, address, email and phone # used to sign-up...they demanded that I provide the last 8 digits of my credit card.
So I said...8 digits? Since the first four digits of a credit card are the same for each bank...sending the last 8 digits over an unencrypted email is the dumbest thing they could ever possibly demand.
So regardless that I got my account (even though several hours after being billed they had "no account information for the info you provided") I will be calling.
I want to let them know that asking for what amounts to 3/4 of a credit card number over unencrypted email is ridiculous...and that even in their "impressive" customer database of 400,000 (they told me this...I found it quite unimpressive) I guarantee that no one has the same name, address, email and phone number. Do they really need it narrowed down anymore?
What a joke. Could they be that dumb that they think it's safe to fli around with 3/4 of a credit card number over unencrypted email? They leave 4 digits to be unknown...and anyone who knows anything about credit card companies knows that there are way less than 9999 possibilities for those 4 digits. Credit card numbers have to fit a formula and with 3/4 of the digits....the middle 4 numbers could be narrowed down to a very short list with a simple algorithm. I'm a freshman in computer science and I know this -- they run a professional business.

thanks for listening to me bitch, fipg ) At least these shitty songs don't have DRM.
Good call on the comedy. That might be worth the trouble just for that.

Umm, 8 digits would be half of a VISA/MC/Discover card number, which has 16 digits. AMEX has 15. The first 6 digits indicate the issuer (bank and brand), the rest of the digits except the last are your personal account number. The last is a check-digit. So sending the last 8 digits would only be sending them a partial account number with no banking info, so it would be unlikely that anybody could use this against you.
That said, I've never heard of somebody wanting 8 digits -- I've always been asked for either the last 4 or the whole thing. shrug

If you would have just relaxed, not worried about it and waited a day for the e-mail it would have been a lot less stressful, no?

Read my post. The issuing bank can be found out pretty easy....so that's the first 4 digits. So asking for the last 8 is technically only leaving 4 to be guessed (by anyone who is even slightly crafty). And they asked for this over email. They literally said "email us back with the last 8 digits to your CC". To me, that is ridiculous.
The issuing bank can be found out pretty easily from most people, especially older people, with some quick social engineering. That leaves only 4 digits unknown.
And since those 4 digits aren't random but part of an algorithmically generated account number...there are much less than 9999 possibilities.

Actually I just got a great recording of Mahler's 6th Symphony.
Beats the hell out of the one I already had. Pretty much worth the $10.
I still think this offer sucks for being so delayed and for their customer service sucking so badly.

sounds like you wouldn't have had a problem if you were just patient like travman said.
these guys have had a LOT of fraud. they likely wait for the cc charge to settle before granting you access. it's not a huge deal.
and honestly 8 digits of your cc over email is not really so ridiculous. i'd much sooner worry about data storage / personnel access issues on the merchant or cc gateway.

We all know patience is a virtue in this game. If you can't be patient you might as well quit. Whether it be on crediting, MCR's, getting referrals to green, getting referrals in general, waiting for sites to acknowledge your existence, waiting for a response to your support ticket.........blah blah blah, nuff said. It blows, but it's necessary.
