Can you imagine if you'd GPS tracked this ship to port, and then found out your new E92 was wrecked?

[quotea93fdac782]The carrier M/V Courage tipped at the port in Jersey City on Friday causing damage to over 370 BMWs. The ship was loaded with new 3-series and 1-series vehicles, including new M3s. Around 70 of the damaged cars are reported to be total losses with others sustaining major damage. Word is that the M3s bared the brunt of the brutality. Extensively damaged cars will be crushed while those with minor damage will undergo repair at a receiving facility in Elizabeth, NJ, after which they will proceed onto dealers. Bimmers destined for European delivery customers were also on board, although it's not clear how those buyers will be handled in the wake of the incident.

My best friend's dad is in the Naval Reserve. He spent last 2006 in Iraq, but before that his duties were mostly limited to two- or three-week stints training servicemen at US bases around the world.

About five years ago he was sent to Germany. He rarely said much about these trips, but this time all he could talk about was the BMW he planned to buy there. Apparently he had arranged for such a great deal that even with the shipping costs, he'd be able to afford a car he never would have imagined buying in the US.

It was a pretty sweet car, too. Check out the pics

I don't know if there would be anything scarier than being out in the middle of the ocean only to find out that the ship you are on is sinking. I used to work on a cruise liner that just did day cruises up the St Lawrence river. No real risk there. We took a cruise for our honeymoon and I remember looking out into the endless water think that if I fell or jumped, I'd never be found and I had no chance of making it to land.

They replaced it, but it took something like 2 years...I still joke with him about it every time I see him.

What a giant kick in the stomach. Can you imagine getting the phone call from the dealer about the container ship sinking?
