Bowling

So, I bowled for the first time Christmas day, and I absolutely love it! I bowled again the following night and ended up playing a 146 game.

I bought me some brunswick shoes today, mostly to reduce the price when I go back )

But anyway, anyone else here practice bowling? Any tips, tricks?

I think joining a bowling league would be tight!

I'm on a bowling league at my school. We ended our first session, we start again next semester. I'm pretty decent. I usually bowl straight, can't really figure out a curve yet. I used to be on a league with my father for like five years when I was in elementary and middle school.

Since my school has a league at the bowling alley, they charge the teams (3 people per team), $5 for 3 games and shoes. Not a bad deal. D

My highest game is a 185. Over the summer a bunch of us from my job had a bowling tournament, and I won best overall bowler, and best male bowler. D

I've been in league ever since I could hold the ball, and I'm 21 now. I recommend learning how to hook it. I never knew until about 3-4 years ago. It takes some getting used to, but makes it a little different, and when you get used to it, you'll notice improvement. Each year since I started to hook the ball my average has steadily gone up like, 165-173-182-190, and currently 197.

Yeah, I've been trying to figure out how to hook it as well. I can do it sometimes, but just a minor hook. I can't do one of those uber hooks where the balls is literally at the edge, almost in the gutter, and then BOOM strike. I wish I could do that. That's godly. P

Damn Chex. I'm sorry you've had such a neglectful childhood ( I bowl occasionally at the local casinos here. My highest was probably like a 165. I love renting the shoes because I look like a clown with them on, especially since I wear a size 13 )

I actually like the shoes they provide, but my friend was going to buy them and when he couldn't find the style he asked why and they said it was to avoid confusion with the bowling alley. The reason they make the shoes in that style is basically "alley only" footwear, and not available to the public, I don't think.

Anyway, yeah i'm neglected, but at least I've started. I want to get better at it do curves and all that and bowl a 300! P

Maybe I'll join a league at my local Brunswick.

i bowled about every other week for a few months durring my senior year of high school, we'd go "Nitro" bowling, where it is from 10pm to 12pm, and we would usually drink before we go. I hook the ball, and read up about how to spin it correctly, usually I over spin it and it hits the sweet spot across the head pin instead of in front of it, but can still turn out well lots of the time.

Do some reading online, I have a very fucked up approach, i studder step for 4-5 steps to get into my correct rythm, but can't do the standard just take steps up and bowl, just doesn't work for me... Get your own style, and then use help from others as well...

I am right handed, but hook the ball right (in other words, I throw it down the left side of the lane and it hooks toward the right). I do use a drilled ball...but it was drilled to hook left. lol.

I wasn't awful when I rolled straight...but there was a noticeable improvement once I got the hook down. I still throw a straight ball if I need to pick up the 7 (and/or sometimes the 7) pin(s).

I'm left handed, bowled all my life, hook it etc, i'm pretty good, high game of like 230, It's a lot of fun! Go get yourself a bowling ball ;)

Every time I go bowling I get a total score of like 80 haha

I usually get 130's or so.
I Wii bowled for the first time a few weeks ago and got a 165. That was pretty fun, but not as fun as actually going to a bowling alley.

high game is 172. my friend bowled a 6 once. rofl, can't let him live that down

I love Bowling even thought I suck at it I normally go every year for with the teens at my church to help them out with there overnighter D .

Too bad bowling isn't as easy as Wii Sports makes it seem ;) Bowled a 259 on there last night.
