I read a review of Mint www.mint.com in SmartMoney last month, and have been meaning to check it out further. I have a legit copy of MS Money that I've started to setup many times, but never gotten very far in the setup. I've seen Quicken, Wesabe www.wesabe.com, Yodlee www.yodlee.com, and Geezeo www.geezeo.com recommended as well, but not used either of them.

I've used Quicken for about 10 years now. I upgrade every other year, I'm currently running 2007 Deluxe. I like it a lot.

For tax software, however, I gave up on TurboTax years ago and moved to TaxCut. It's cheaper but works just as well as TurboTax.

I used MS Money for a year and it was pretty great. But Bank of America actually has a pretty solid online interface now that does 90% of what MS Money did and is accessible anywhere, so that's I use now.

Does Bank of America allow you to integrate all of your other accounts (money market, mutual fund, CCs, etc)?

Yup...that's why I lost interest in MS Money. It's a pretty painless process, and the only account (of about 5) that I've had any problems integrating is my PayPal account.

I assume with mint you can integrate stocks?

Interesting, though 99.9% of my Paypal payments are funded through my CC, so I can resolve those using the CC. Thanks for the advice.

Mint.com is the shit. No fees, no nothing and I have added like 7 accounts to it with no problem. When I tried to use MS money a while back I didn't like it at all bc. of fees and having to manually upload my transactions.

I use [u5629e72c76]Money Manager Ex[/u5629e72c76][=http//www.thezeal.com/software/index.php?Money_Manager_Ex][u5629e72c76]Money Manager Ex[/u5629e72c76] and enter my transactions manually, but Mint and Geezeo look interesting...

Edit Mint [i5629e72c76]is[/i5629e72c76] the shit. They even have login info for my local credit union. Geezeo didn't. Guess who I'm sticking with?

UniPrize, what fees did you have for MS Money? It's been 2 or 3 years since I used it, but the only "fee" I paid was the price of the software itself; it integrated pretty seamlessly with all of my accounts.

I bought Quicken Deluxe 2008 on eBay a couple of months ago for about $18 and it works great for me. They occasionally have server problems that won't let you update transactions and such, but other than it, it's got a really nice interface, user friendly, it's fast and is pretty detailed (at leas for what I use it for).

I was tempted to try out Mint.com but held off due to it being online only and didn't want all my financial information being kept online for anyone with access or the ability to gain access to see or obtain.

If I remember correctly, there was a fee to integrate it with my banks. It wasn't MS money charging the fee but the banks. Either that or I had to manually upload it, which wasn't appealing.

From what I've read about Mint, they have a one way connection to your financial info, and can only check, but can't change data...

[quote48911d2ae5] Mint logged into all our bank and credit card accounts on my behalf (with just the user names and passwords, and no account numbers) to get updated information on the previous quarter’s balances and transactions. The site then organized the data in a simple format. It all happened in seconds and was so seamless that my reaction was fear.

What if a hacker gained access to the site?

I was so concerned that before even bothering to look at the colorful spending pie chart that Mint had created, I phoned the site’s founder, Aaron Patzer.

“Please don’t worry,” Mr. Patzer said. “I’ll make a bold statement and say that you’re safer on Mint, putting all your accounts in one place, than you are with online banking.[b48911d2ae5] We start with the same encryption banks use, but the difference is that on Mint, you’re anonymous. We don’t know your account numbers.”[/b48911d2ae5]

I checked the Mint screen again. No account numbers.

[b48911d2ae5]“We don’t know your name,” he said. “Remember that when you registered, you just gave us a user name and password.”[/b48911d2ae5]

I checked the Mint screen. No name.

“We have a read-only connection to your bank, so you can’t move money around using Mint,” he said.

I have used many of the programs and like Mint a lot. Both quicken and MS Money I liked, Quicken in particular, but after a while I found adding new transactions daily (mostly cash transactions) to be a drag. But this shouldn't matter as long as you don't keep super details. I think Quicken is terrific if trying to keep detailed accounts and really see where your money is being spent (wasted).
