I have a few domains in mind that I'd like to buy. What's the cheapest way to buy them?

I buy all mine from either GoDaddy or 1and1. They may not be the cheapest, but they're quite reasonable and offer good service. IIRC 1and1 offers private whois for free, while GoDaddy charges an extra buck or two for it.

Thanks Dmo. Private Whois is a nice bonus.

I buy with GoDaddy they send me discounts alot and have promos like $6.95 domains. I once got 3 .infourl==http://=http:///url domains for free... or maybe it was one. Still, they offer promotions alot.

1and1 is usually cheaper than GD, especially for the features you get (like the aforementioned free private registration).

1and1's current prices

.bizurl==http://=http:///url - $2.99
.com,url==http://=http:///url .us,url==http://=http:///url .org,url==http://=http:///url .neturl==http://=http:///url - $6.99

All include free private whois, DNS management, 1 e-mail account including 200 aliases with forwarding, and more.

This reminds me why I started moving my registrations from GoDaddy to 1and1 last year. )

GoDaddy is like $8.99/yr for private, isn't it?

Looks like it's $6.99/yr now. I paid for it with my last 2-year renewal from them, but I could swear I only paid like $2 extra. It might have been a sale promotion thing, or I might just be senile. shrug

I like GoDaddy and all, and was with them for several years, but 1and1 is just as good plus you get more extras without the extra charge. I think I have one domain left with GD, when it's close to expiring I'll transfer it over to 1and1 as well. I had hosting with 1and1 for 3 years and liked it too, but moved to Dreamhost last year to get the cheap year of hosting. I've been very happy with DH for hosting, and will probably renew at full price here in a month or so.

damn, I definitely have to look into 1and1. Got ~ 50 domains and every bit saves helps, especially if I gotta pay $7/yr on each for private on top of the price.

I used to use dreamhost too until they locked me out of my files.

I've always used GoDaddy for my domains...but now that you mentioned it David...1&1 seems more logical to register a domain with.
