Do you still have to cancel them? I heard that you didn't, but then I was told you probably need to, because they could potentionally send you the bill in the mail for the stuff, and may ruin your credit? Not sure how they could ruin your credit without your SSN, but I'm just curious.

I'm just guessing, but I think what counts is that they have your (or whoever bought the webcert) credit card number. That's the only number it takes to ruin someone's credit, I believe (

But yes, if you are dissatisfied with the trial service, I would cancel in person, regardless of your method of payment.

Well, it's the honest thing to do. It's like writing a bad check, you promise to pay, but the funds aren't there. Also, they very well might get Gratis to cancel your account. I highly doubt they'd ruin your credit though. lishrugsli

Well, I was going to buy some Web Certs for some of my buddies to get them to sign-up for some things. The reason why I'm asking is because that seems a little risky in relying on them to cancel the offers if they're not satisfied with it.

for some reason if you read the fees on the webcert agreements, it says that if the balance becomes lower than 0.00 at any time, you will be charged 15 dollar fee. i have no clue what that exactly means though.

That's scary! Then why do people trade webcerts?!?!?!

i believe the recurring charges would just get denied. i mean, i dont think webcert.com likes to lose money by letting charges go through.

Is there any site that lets you buy a web cert and fund it with paypal? That would be great.

Also, do most gas stations and 7-11's sell pre-paid cc? What $$ values do they come in?

Thanks!

Most of the gas stations around me sell them. Not sure about the value that they come in though.

But you have to go down there in person, and for us kiddies under 18...kinda hard...And plus, I don't really understand it. Do you just go down to Radio Shack or something give them a certain amount of money and then you can immediately start using a physical card? ?

About the ruining credit thing, they can get your credit info just from your name. I have had hospital bills I could not pay and all they had was basic info. No cc numbers or anything, but the collection agency still had all my credit info ready to ruin.

It's not hard to find info on someone with the right resources, even if you just stat with their name.

I personally wouldn't just let something like that hang. I'd make sure they got canceled. I'm sure they have thought of things like this and have ways to counter it.

I have a greendot card. basically you have to pay i think like 14.95 to activate the card. then when you call and sign up you have to give them your DOB and ssn. if your under 18, i think you can still do it, i am not really sure... since i am not under 18. but they charge you a 4.95 service charge every month. it doesnt go on your real credit score. (you can get the option if you want to repair your credit but its like 7.95 or 19.95 a month or something) you can either buy the reload packs at like cvs or wherever they sell em. each time you reload it it takes out 4.95 from the total balance. but you can transfer money into the account using paypal or if you have direct deposit to your account, and it doesnt charge you anything.
www.getmygreen.com its an okay card, kind of expensive but cool

OK, I e-mailed them and this is what they said

responsible for the usage of the Webcertificate account. Anytime you
purchase a Webcertificate, the recipient must create an account in order
to claim it and spend it. By creating the account the recipient is

The way it can go over is the same as on any credit card. Some places, like gas stations and whatnot, preauthorise that the card is good (Usuallyl ike a $1 temporary charge), then give you the service, then charge the full amount. If you have enough for preauth, but not enough for the end purchase... You go over.
