He could face 30 years in prison.

30yrs for lying about doing steroids? Yeah right. There are over one million steroid users in the US and users rarely get more than a year. Since Barry Bonds is a very rich and powerful man, he will do very little time, if any at all.

Exactly...I HIGHLY doubt he'll be doing something around 30 years.

I just hope he gets the record wiped out....and banned like Pete Rose....I don't care about jail time...

[quote20ce290960="box86rowh"]banned like Pete Rose...[/quote20ce290960]

[quote20ce290960]On November 15th, 2007 an unidentified MLB source reported that commissioner Bud Selig is "strongly considering reinstating Pete Rose's eligibility into baseball by Opening Day 2008". This reinstatment, if granted, would allow voting for Pete Rose to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. No further comment was given.[/quote20ce290960]

Since there is no confirmed source, take it with a grain of salt.

I have always thought he should at least be allowed in the Hall...him betting on games did not make himself any better...

Yeah, I view Pete Rose in a much more favorable light than I do Bonds. He was a genuine athlete and he's more than paid his dues. Meanwhile you have cheats like Bonds, McGuire, Sosa, and the like making millions being so-called "heroes" and "role-models" while lying to the fans, courts, and Congress.

The charges and possible sentences have nothing to do with steroids, per se. They have to do with multiple counts of perjury and obstruction of justice. The perjury charges carry potential 5 year terms and the obstruction charges carry potential 10 year terms. I'm sure if he were convicted and in the unlikely even was sentenced to max terms, they'd run concurrent. So he's probably looking at 10 years at worst, but will doubtfully get that.

Personally I can't stand him. He's a disgrace to all honest athletes and record holders.

I'm not saying he's likely to get 30 years, that's just the total based on the charges. As for the million of steroid users in the US, how many of them have (possibly) lied while testifying during a federal criminal investigation? It seems it's not really about steroids at this point but about perjury and obstruction.

If he does do time, it'll probably be like Martha Stewart time. Maybe more if his trainer decides to stop covering for him. Still, even though I don't like Bonds, I wouldn't want to see him go to jail. I would like to see them clear the career HR record and even the single season HR record back to 61 because we all know mcguire and sosa were users too. Fat chance though.

Those guys went after Bonds like it was some type of witch hunt.

They didn't care too much when that other guy lied under oath and was then caught...

But whatever.... doesn't matter

Probably because Bonds CHEATED to break baseballs most honorable record.

I read somewhere that, considering his lack of a criminal record, he'll get 2-3 years MAX, if convicted of ALL charges.

Not only baseball's, but arguably the biggest in sports.

His indictment has nothing to do with records or baseball. The FBI couldn't care less about any of that shit.
