1 word just wow.

I always imagined it would be retarded to pay for radio service since its availible for free. But after one day of Sirius I have realized how annoying commercials actually are. Plus the stations on sirius are pretty good( i like the shade 45) and the music is good.

A++ for satelite radio.

I have XM and it was good, but there are still commercials, and the worst part is they are the same ones. It's not a ton of them, but after a set of like 10 or so songs there's like 3-5 commercials.

i've yet to hear a commercial. ive also noticed that they paly a lot of songs that radio would simply not touch because its outdated and they aren't being paid by the artists to play it. Kind of reminds me of the old days when radio would just play good music not the top 100 bs all day.

I also like the internet feature that allows you to listen over the internet. Great service. I only needed one day to be a convert.

another plus of the sateltie radio is the selection of stations. In Ny there are 2 main hiphop stations Hot 97.1Fm and 105.1.

97.1 claims to be the home of hiphop but most of the times they are playing some bs r&b that the girls must love. They also play a ton of that reggaetone shit that you cant even understand since Ny has a large PR and latin population. When they actually do play hiphop its some bs top 40 shit that you dont want to hear.

105.1 mimics 97.1 to the T.

So basically if your driving and want to hear some good hiphop you're either screwed or better hope that you made a good cd at home.

With the satelite radio you have 4-5 stations that striclty play hiphop. No other bs.

am i the only one that hears godawful compression noise in satellite radio feeds? i can't stand it -- it grates on me like a muted TV being on in the other room

I can live with it even if I cant hear what you are talkign about.

They just called Mya a ho on shade45. They just dont care and have the liberty of no censorship to do as they feel. i can live with some unintended noises. (it actually sounds crisp to me though)

Audio snob.

But myself, also being an audio snob (no thanks to you) agree. The compression on XM/Sirius is painful. I can handle talk radio over satellite but as for music, I have to pass. The only thing that makes me even consider satellite is the comedy channels. Say hello to HD Radio. Too bad only BMW puts them in standard. Everyone else has sold their souls to the satellite demon.

lol not true.

Shade45 is taking a big step in trying to revive original rap as it was before the insane commercialization. The stations on Sirius are clearly labeled. IT pretty much gives everyone their own personal options which is great.

I also like the increased popularity of 'the' S.R. . I've seen popular mixtape DJs with their own time slots on shade45.

The quality is not the best but compared to FM radio it is a dream come true. I love my sirius radio. Stern FTW

I have had Sirius for almost four years now and listen to Super Shuffle, Buzzsaw, Octane, Faction, Playboy (Night Calls), and occasionally Shade 45 (The All-Out Show). I can't imagine switching back to FM. I hate the quality, the commercials, and everything being censored. I like being able to take a trip across states and be able to listen to the same channel for the duration of the trip. As for XM having commercials, I think that only the channels that are owned by Clear Channel have commercials.

I was watching the giants game on nfl.com and I see this

SIRIUS Radio 124

Are all nfl games on sirius radio? If so how much a month is this?

If you haven't noticed by now, there are no commercials on any of the music channels on SIRIUS. (XM on the other hand is a different story).

[quoteb5f3a04098="manOFice"]Are all nfl games on sirius radio? If so how much a month is this?[/quoteb5f3a04098]

Yes. As for the second question, there are no additional fees for any channels, everything is included in the price you pay (which is $12.95 per month, $142.45 per year, $271.95 for 2 years and $399.99 for lifetime subscription [up to 3 radio swaps for $75, SIRIUS Internet Radio is for life, even if you go past 3 radio swaps.

I'd say $0.43 per day for uncensored, commercial-free music + news, weather, sports, comedy (including Howard Stern), and adult entertainment is well worth it.

Also, they sell radios that keeps track of your favorite teams in different sports and alerts you when a game is about to start and Stiletto will show you live scores on your favorite games even while you listen to another channel.

I've never heard a commercial on an XM music channel. And they still advertise their music as commercial free, according to their website "The most music -- 69 commerical-free channels" and "Commercial-free music, every genre."

However they DO have quite annoying commercials on their non-music channels, particularly their talk and comedy channels, which is my only gripe with XM so far. But from what I understand, Sirius has commercials on those channels too.

How are you connecting your receiver? If by FM modulator, it isn't going to be much better than FM itself. The nature of FM transmission compresses the audio range, producing a pretty flat result. A tape adapter is a little better, but not a while lot. However if you can direct-connect, you'll find the audio quality is digital, CD quality for either XM or Sirius. I bought an iPod adapter to integrate my iPod with my factory stereo, and it came with an AUX connection for another device -- that's how my XM receiver is hooked up, and it sounds awesome. Certainly near-CD quality at least.

I'm listening to channel 72 (Pure Jazz) right now. It always helps me relax but I like Hip Hop Nation and The Octane as well.

They had a few commercials per hour when I listened to them awhile back.

As for the non-music channels, SIRIUS has them as well, though I feel not nearly as often as XM plays them (unless they changed that as well).
