A trucking company's policy is to charge $0.60 per mile for the first 100 miles, $0.50 per mile for the next 300 miles, $2.50 per mile for the next 400 miles.
Find the cost C as a function of mileage for hauls between 100 and 400 miles. Let x represent the number of miles hauled.

I should be ashamed of myself, I'm a great math student, and I was confused when I first read this problem. I don't know what math your taking, but this seems like an elementary algebra sort of problem? Anyway, here's my attempt

its a webassign so if i did get the write answer it might not have worked cuz you have to be exact with variables if they are case sensitive

webassign sucks really bad
Yeah, i used to have a class where you took the tests on the computer, and it would automatically score it for you.
It would ask you something like Whats the most important part of a computer?
The answer would be "The CPU"
If you answered "CPU" "Processor" "the CPU"
it would mark it incorrect, pluss they would ask it on like the HTML chapter or something. Horrible, horrible program.

Normally, its not the program, but the professor. Most programs now allow for multiple correct answer input using commas to separate.
Well, it came with a textbook, and couldn't be changed, everything it marked something wrong that was questionable i'd go to the instructor and she'd adjust my grade. Pain in the ass though. Who would make a test program that's case sensitive? doh. I think they shipped it in beta stage.
