This sucks. I really liked my hd-dvd add on for the 360. Looks like what I bought is becoming betamax. Could sony have finally done something right?

that's a shame.
so do you think that if blu-ray wins that the xbox360 will put a blu-ray player in?

If Blu-Ray wins, Microsoft would be STUPID to not have a Blu-Ray add-on.
But, I wouldn't be surprised to see this format war last a couple more years at least, and there might be new gaming consoles out by then. Who knows.

Why not? They have been able to do just about anything that Sony has done.

This seems pretty biased, the article bases that statistic on 300's Hd-Format sales. All in all HD-DVD is a better format for consumers so I think it will prevail after this holiday season.

I didn't read the article but here is what I got from DVD Empire (an online movie retailer)
Percentage of total Hi-Def sales
Format Blu-Ray HD-DVD
Week 69.89% 30.11%
Month 64.89% 35.11%
Year 62.04% 37.96%
From hidefdigest.com the amount of titles being released between now and December 18
Blu-ray 96
HD-DVD 64 (11 of which are re-issues of earlier HD-DVDs)
hehehhehe

??? No, it's based on this
[quote93e9da7eba]Between January 1 and July 1, a total of 795,000 HD-DVDs were sold, versus 1.6 million BDs.[/quote93e9da7eba]
I didn't see any bias. And this is before the ps3 price drop.
And I think Bluray will really take off this holiday season as more people buy the PS3. I'm not saying BR is better (so no fanboy flames please), just saying I think the gap is going to widen.

Never know what can happen. I am still keeping the faith. However, it doesn't look good for blu-ray.

I'm curious about your reasoning on this. I don't have a horse in the race yet myself, but all things technical have pointed to BR being the superior format. The big advantages HD had early on was that it was available first and was cheaper to produce since it could be manufactured from much of the same equipment as regular DVD's, whereas BR required a complete re-tooling. But now that BR production has ramped up I don't see availability and pricing as a problem. Given the higher density and greater storage capacity, BR would have the edge I would think.

Maybe the DRM issues?
