I have been to the park lately and I have been interested getting a bicycle... The light bicyle, the kinds that Neil Armnstrong races in marathon.

Does anyone know a good brand with decent price and also A light bike as possible, I have heard there is 10lbs bike.... I really want one of this.

But I am fairly new at this type of toy, and so if you know a good brand with decent price and where I can it, please let me know. Thanks in advance

Bikes like the ones in the Tour de France are thousands of dollars. And its certainly not a "park" bike. There are plenty of good review sites (none off the top of my head). Take a look at those sites and lots allow you to select scenarios in which you are using them and all that hulah baloo.

Your grammar makes me lol. What Armstrong had was a custom-made bike. Worth thousands as Jams said. A quick Google search for "road bike reviews" gives this first result http//www.roadbikereview.com

Btw, it's not Neil Armstrong, it's [baa65c012d0]Lance[/baa65c012d0] Armstrong. ROFL

well lance armstrong rides a custom trek madone. But you can get a decent road bike from 600 and up. Keep in mind that frame is important, but the most important thing about bikes are components. Head to your local bike shop and take a look at some of the bikes and check it out.

I'll give you my secret. I checked craigslist every day and eventually found a practically brand new Gary Fisher originally $700, for $150. Once you decide on a bike, keep your eyes open. Nothings worse than paying $1000 for a new bike and deciding you want something different.

good luck!

I have a feeling he doesn't want to spend more than a few hundred on this... he doesn't sound like he's got any clue about what he wants except for "racing bike", either.

hehehhehe

I have been looking at road bikes too. You won't find an affordable one for 10 lbs. though, that's a bit out there.

If you want to get a decent one, you'll have to pay $600 and up unless you get lucky on craigslist. The weight will be at least 17-18 pounds probably and pay attention to the components (you can look up all of the levels that shimano makes) rather than the brand name of the frame.

EDIT I guess I ended up repeating amir without reading his post.

Just curious, but why is it important for you to have a good bike? Unless you're planning on racing, or unless you plan on riding with someone you need to keep up with, what difference does the weight of the bike make?

Save some money, get a heavier bike, and ride a little slower. You'll still get in shape and if you start to get serious about it you can always upgrade to a better bike down the road.

Alternately, consider just going to a bike shop and asking a salesman to help you find what you're looking for.

It may not be worth getting an expensive bike unless you're looking to get into biiking as a pro or semi-pro. You can get an affordable one and still get a good workout. But it depends on your budget.

A marathon doesn't involve a bike, it's running. This sounds like something you should think about a LOT more before investing. Faster bikes tend to be less comfortable for riding round the "park".

Check out a cannondale -- they make good bikes. Also, since you aren't heavily into biking, you should checkout getting a hybrid bike (ie, racing & mountain) because they are somewhat more durable & versatile than your typical street bike.

the most important parts of a road bike are your pedals/shoes setup. it's like night and day riding with a good setup, and without

i have a $50 1983 miyata 310, it's in decent condition, and i can easily keep up with all the guys who have $1,500 Sevens and Cannondales

i'd like to upgrade, yes, but for a first road bike don't feel like you need the best of the best
