I don't see what was bad about it.

It's not allowed. Please read the rules.

I was not referring to a freebie site. ( okay, y'all took it off anyways, but just wondering the reason it "is not allowed".
I like this forum, not trying to cause any trouble.

Any ref link, even affiliate marketing ones, is against the rules. (Short of FusionCash)

Nikolai, please. She's asking WHY it's not allowed. Are you really a politician? ;)

It's not allowed because not only can you personally gain from someone clicking your link, anyone can report your link for violation of the sites' ToS, people can claim to have signed up under your link thinking you'd pay them then you turn around and say there was no trade and you don't owe them anything etc.

Also, we never "nix'ed" them, I believe they were never allowed from the get-go, but as I wasn't here from the get-go I'm not 100% sure on that one.

I was here 20ish days after the get-go and I'm 100% sure that they weren't allowed when I was here.

When I first started I wouldn't have known if I were being suckered into signing up for a site just to look at it through someone's referral link. I think one reason not to have them is to avoid signing up for something under someone without meaning to, especially if you haven't figured out how to investigate a site without logging in yet. So if nothing else, it helps newbies. Also, what TSJ said...

oh well-- for my purposes-- still under the impression that if they want to click on it, then it is not spam.

To some it is spam, to others not.

It's a moot point anyway, because they aren't allowed here, and won't be, so let's accept that and move on. Not everybody agrees with rules, but we all have to follow them. ;)
