So who is buying fireworks this week and how much are you spending? We bought ours tonight and spent $171. If I can get people to finish ZPT for me soon I will probably buy more. Our neighborhood of 8 families usually ends up pooling together about $1000 in fireworks.

I didn't have time to go to moapa this year so i'm stuck with the shit they sell in the stands.

We do not have any restriction here in WA state. I think we got some awesome mortar. It usually sounds like a war zone around here during the week of the 4th.

My town sucks so much that they celebrated July 4 today (three days early). That alone should be indicative of how good the fireworks were.
And most fireworks, except the small ones (e.g. bottle rockets), are illegal in New York.

In Las Vegas you can olny get "Safe&Sain" stuff which like fountains and things like. In other parts of Nevada anything gose. Which is why I usually go to moapa (indian res) But just haven't had the time. There also way over priced there. I pack of bottle rockets is like $20 dollars! The same black cat bottle rockets that are under $5 everywhere else they charge $20 for...
You don't even wanna know how much they charge for cakes and mortars...

All we can use is the firework stand stuff. But I'm OK with that, it still looks cool.
The mortar stuff is illegal and they are supposedly cracking down on it this year.. but then they say that every year. lishrugli
I'll have a good 4th, Fortunately I'm not working until midnight like i was last year.

We have Indian reservation that make some really big fireworks. I have not gotten any of these in about 10 years, the last time I almost burned up my parents carport. Our next door neighbor had a mini cannon that shot a grapefruit size steel ball and took out one of our 15 year old fir trees. That was a wild year.

eh, i'll probably spend just $30-$40
last year i had this big plan to use an Estes model rocket engine, hooked up to a home-made rocket, packed with fireworks. i was light the fireworks, then quickly launch the rocket. it would've been cool, but after finally getting the fireworks lit, the rocket didn't ignite. i still have the rocket tho so maybe i'll try again.

I think that in Utah anything that goes higher than 5 feet is illegal, everything else is good. I would like to buy a bunch of fireworks this year, but i'll probably end up at a park to watch them...

they did ban bottle rockets here, and i think explosive stuff - all we get basically is things that "shower sparks". but you can cross into ohio and get better stuff.

No fireworks are allowed in Texas anymore. I might have to take a little trip to the Oklahoma border to get some.

x323 did you go to Pahrump to get them? Thats my favorite place to get them in Nevada since theres like 6 huge stores and the have normal prices and wholesale. But its like an hour and a half away. What you save in prices you pay in the extra gas to get them. Plus i'm alittle scared of going there. Theres alot of police there this time of year pulling people over as soon as they leave Nye. Not olny do they take all the shit you buy but you also get a huge ticket.

The town I live in had a Freedom Celebration this past weekend and the most awesome fireworks display I've ever seen. The sponsors spent $50,000 on the fireworks. It lasted almost 25 minutes!

In the past the Utah police have actually crossed into Wyoming to take down license plates at the firework shop. They would then pull those people over back in Utah. Wyoming wasn't too happy about that so it doesn't go on anymore, but they still do searches along the freeway. It's like a 2-3 hour drive.
I'm not making the trip. My kids haven't seen park fireworks close up so that's what we're doing this year.

My cousin is Special Ops and a Ranger in Iraq. He is coming to my house on 4th of July and apparently is bringing an insane amount of fun stuff.
