I have been selling odds and ends on ebay for a few years now. In the past year I have had someone able to hack into my account and try to sell a motorcycle and even have a picture of it. They somehow got my password and then changed it. Someone had questions about and emailed me. Has anyone else had this happen?

You probably fell for a phishing scam. I wouldn't call it "hacking" per se. If you can contact eBay about it, hopefully you can get your account back. At which time you should change your password to something more secure and be more aware of phishing sites.

I have contacted ebay and have had the sellers fees removed and these motorcycles from my listings. I change my password every 6 months. I just wanted to warn others.

That's deffinetly a smart move.
Only thing that I've ever had to deal with was my email being hacked...but I got it back =) .

I had the same thing happen. I keep getting emails and stuff from buyers, and from ebay for not paying fees. I emailed ebay from a different email and never got anything back from them.

I emailed ebay 4 times never received a response, then I search for their phone number and finally about a month they removed the fees. They were really mad that I found their phone number and believe me it was not easy.

Woah! Ebay has a phone number? Where did you get that??

And this thread inspired me to contact ebay again. So I did the live help thing. And after talking to a lady for a while she figured out that they had changed the name, and address of the account (she won't tell me anything because of privacy issues). So the only thing that I'm affected by is the fact that I keep getting emails. So I wont' be liable for anything. And she did give me a form to fill out for somebody to look at so I can stop getting the emails.

I wish I would could find where I placed the number but I can not. I first went through google, then I went into qwest dex in California. I think their office is in San Jose. I think this is where I found it. I will try and look for it again.

Google'd "ebay phone number". First result 888-749-3229 800-322-9266

Those are the numbers I found and I was able to talk to someone at 1-800-322-9266 though I am not a power seller, they still talked to me but were not happy about it.

Thought I'd bump this thread instead of creating a new one wink

Well, what I thought was unlikely happened to me. I log into my eBay account, and I have an alert saying my e-mail address was changed. It gave the IP (84.254.188.2) and apparently it came from Italy. They also changed the name on the account to Bob Manz. Unfortunately, my eBay and GMail passwords were the same (VERY BAD) and somehow they got a hold of one and easily got the other. oops

I'm just glad nothing serious has happened with my accounts (that I know of so far). Lesson learned, NEVER use the same password across different websites, and change your passwords frequently! I was able to change back my e-mail and change my passwords for eBay and GMail, so I hope everything works out...

Just another example on why you should never use your personal passwords or paypal passwords on your freebie sites! Hopw all workd out for you.

I would highly suggest changing passwords especially on ebay and paypal every 6 months minimum.
