Ok, im looking to invest in a paintball gun...

i've gone paintballing several times before and only used the rental gun which was a tippmann 98n custom... the standard gun...

im looking for a durable gun, but with a fast firing rate... of course a good gun that will be less likely to jam... and yes i know a good hopper/feeder is very important...

any comments?

liliEDITlili I'm also looking to buy an airsoft rifle... i want to get one of those heavy duty sniper rifles....

worth it or not.?

Does anyone have anything similar?

I'm real happy with my spyder electra, it's cable of firing up to 30bps but on automatic is shoots 13bps at max setting, but it's got a rocking trigger so you can shoot at least 20bps easy. I also know the ion is a good gun but doesn't really have anything that sticks out a lot. Do not skip on a hopper, get the best you can, you should get a halo or empire if you can afford it.

how much was ur gun... AND... the ion is more expensive? you think its worth it...

i think i was looking into smart parts guns back when i was REALLY into going paintballing

I have a kingman sypder MR2. I love this gun, a lot better than the other cheaper guns I've used. Had this for about a year and shot around 6000 balls through it and have never had the gun jam or a ball break.

The buttstock is both a pro and a con though. Origionally I loved the idea and it was the reason I bought the gun. And after using it I do like it. It helps a lot in keeping the gun steady. But if sucks if someone gets you cornered somewhere because its' a lot harder to just stick the gun out around a tree or somehting and fire.

Click on the link and go down to the MR2-Electronic and look at the back of the gun.

It's the thing on that gun that looks kinda like a triangle and is like hollow. You rest that against your armpit and it helps support the gun a little.

On a real gun it helps with the recoil.

i have to admit that is a pretty sweet gun...

there is no way to eliminate the stock butt... ?

how is the barrel

It comes off, it just doesn't have the look and feel like when it's on. And it doesn't really have any support w/o it. And it's pretty heavy too. Like i mean you can play w/o the buttstock, but it just doesn't quite seem to ballance.

The barrel is ok, but I mean it's definatly something that you should upgrade if you are serious about paintball.

That sniper would be good for just messing around in the backyard but if you wanted to play with friends you definitely want an electric (rechargeable, if possible) automatic rifle. I think my brother got his for something around $60 and it hurts [i61d0575d67]really[/i61d0575d67] bad. lol

I think you just bought a BB gun when you intended to buy a paintball gun

Good buy, I like. The rechargeable battery and clip make it worth the buy and the 275 FPS will be a sting. P

PS That's an airsoft gun, Doy. I kind of interrupted the paintball talk, my bad.

I own an Angel 2k1 and a Intimidator.

Check out an Angel. They are one of the best

Check out PBnation.com and paintballforum.com

There are some awesome deals on guns. People are always selling

Yeah, the electra is definatley worth the $200 or so I spent on it, the ion is the around the same price, too. Every spyder gun besides the new electras are crappy, especially for their prices. By the way, that airsoft gun will break after about 25 rounds fired out of it.

as of right now... i dont live near many places that have paintball fields... and where i live in kinda highly populated so its not like me and my friends can just pick up a game...

we DO however have some space to be shooting little BB's around... which should be fun... i like the gun i bought up there...

angel 2k1 and intimidator... which do you think is better.. strengths and weaknesses of both?

and you think it would be ok to buy a new paintball gun in box off ebay... or yo would only trust a dealer where you can actually see the gun.. ?

Most paintball arenas just have walk on games, so you can just go to start playing.

You're not going to spend that much on a gun unless your seriously into it, which it doesn't sound like you are if you're asking what to get.

I'd rather go to a dealer, but it should be fine because most eBay paintball shops are owned by people who own actual shops and just want to expand their buisness past their town/city.

The airsoft gun you bought is nice, but it'll break after you use it a few times, and don't even think to bring that to an airsoft game. Amazon had the same gun without the pistol for $20 a few days ago, not there anymore though.

It's crappily made, I've had 4 guns by them and all broke the 1st day I had them.

im a experinced paintballer with many years of national paintball experience under my belt and i work at a paintball store i would recomend the ion and a good loader if u are looking for speed and effectivness spyders are a thing of the past. ions are the most bang for your $

chrome89k

28-06-2007 11:22:46

reallly.... VERY good info... thanks so much man... does your store have online ordering?

i live in NY

are there any online stores that you would recommend to get this gun for a cheaper price... would Ebay be a good try?

ps... my airsoft gun still has not arrived

schf0ol3d

28-06-2007 15:12:31

Yeah, you wanna stay away from spyders, cause they're really only flashy "cool" looking guns that a lot of new kids buy to try and look good. They're cheap, and you'll soon learn why they are once you buy one. Seeing as how you've gone paintballing several times, I reccomend getting a Smart Parts Ion. You'll get the most out of your money for that marker.

Also, read up on http//www.pbreview.com/ for anything paintball. Great user reviews and rankings on paintball items.

DIABLO

28-06-2007 17:39:25

Yeah, every spyder sucks except the new electras, which aren't amazing but are much better than the other spyders. I'm selling my electra now to get an ion because the rocking trigger is annoying for me, I have no rhythm /

chrome89k

28-06-2007 18:00:30

seems like everyone says ions are the best... that is the one i was looking into several months ago... ish...

thanks everyone... this summer im going to make an investment )

I have a pretty nice Ion thats sitting around collecting dust I'd sell to you... pm me if your serious

But for the most part try to stay away from anything "sniper" unless your playing in the woods ALL the time
