So starting Tuesday I will be gone for the next couple of weeks traveling through Europe. Last year and the year before I went to the UK (specifically London, England and Edinborough, Scotland. This year my parents thought they would spice it up a bit. We are going to

- Amsterdam, Netherlands
- Luxembourg, Luxembourg
- Brussels, Belgium
- Some crazy place in Germany
- Paris, France

Any suggestions on clothing stores or specialty electronic stores that I should go to?

I am going to bring -

Canon Digital Rebel XTi
(2) 2GB mem cards
Laptop
iPod

Well im actually in Holland right now and heading to Amsterdam tomorrow! Umm as for Paris, I dont really know what to really tell you. I didnt do too much shopping when I was there, just watch out for pick pockets. There are also these gypsies that do tricks with you and then someone comes and pick pockets you. Someone i was with got that trick tried on him 2 times.

But yeah if you need to know anything about Holland I could defiantely help you out.

Well in Holland (amsterdam especially) there are Cafe's all over the place. Dont get Cafe's and Coffe Shops confused though. If they have weed, they will havea sign with a marijuana leaf on it and the word "Relax"on it.

The weed here is pretty stong here...so ive heard. Also, any bar you can drink. You have to remember that youre going to get .75 euros to the AMerican dollar right now so like 3 eruos for a beer is like 4 in American.

Anything else. Beer and weed are easy. There are pubs all around.

Amsterdam and Paris are both amazing and if you're a history nut like me, there's no end to what you can do and see in both of those cities. Annnnddd, the fact that you're taking your camera and you're into photography you're fucking set.

My brother goes to Amsterdam on a regular basis and is thinking of moving there, so I can ask him some good places to go if you're into drinking and smoking.

My friend's brother spent last summer in Brussels studying, but went a lot of places in Europe.

He always told me to go to Amsterdam just to check it out, and he said Munich is a blast with the beer gardens.

my european vacation experience

London - too expensive. been there since I was very young so nothing new to see. Plus that accent gets annoying after a while.

Amsterdam - good city with history but too damn cloudy all the time and tooo drug infested. Too gloomy of a place to stay in for more then 3 days. Well unless you like that emo type of feeling

Milan - very nice place. Good city architecture. pretty women. good food. If you go must see the duomo

Nice - exotic location. good nightlife. Pretty women. good hash

Barcelona - very vibrant city. good history. picasso museum. Pretty women. Great nightlife. Would be better if you spoke spanish but overall a wonderful city.

Paris - didnt spend enough time for a review(overnight)

I am a dark weather/gloomy weather fan. I think it clears the sinuses and I do best in that weather, so I like the general weather of Europe far better than what we have here in the states (or at least in Chicago)

Agreed. I think I was a Londoner in a past life. Nothing better than a rainy day, IMO. Good for the sinuses, the skin, the trees... D

When your hair stands on end and you get static shocks? Nah, give me the downpour already. ;)

Jams44

11-06-2007 10:33:56

downpours result in cold weather and im a bitch for temperature changes. give me a 67 degree day every day

be careful with that digital rebel...keep an eye on it always...thieves will love to get their hands on that.

Electronic shops and clothing stores? If you're a fashion nut, go for it...i think it's retarded to shop for clothes at any place other than Steve and Barry's...but whatever.

Electronic shops? You'd be better off at Best Buy from what I've seen.

I lived in Amsterdam for part of the year a while back. It's really nice, and the main part of the city (ie, the ring canals area) is small, so it's easy to travel. The Zoo, Artis, should be nice this time of year. I would also recommend Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein, which are somewhat touristy, but still nice for shopping, eating, etc. June is the month of the Holland Festival, an arts festival featuring theater, dance, music, etc. Check out iamsterdam.nl[=http//iamsterdam.nl/]iamsterdam.nl, which is the city's main info site. Or get in touch with me if you have a question and I'll give you my opinion.

I was stationed in Germany '88-91. I would go visit Colon and Trier in Germany.

check out Venice if you can make it to northern italy (it's a 6 hour train, even shorter plane trip from munich)...Germany's awesome...and if you stay in western europe, you pretty much don't need much other than english...it gets you by fine. it IS nice to be able to read some words, though
