Just shows ya that money and fame can get you out of anything. Remember OJ.

Yep. She probably had an acute case of cell phone and shopping withdrawl

I really thought she'd do a week. Mon-Fri, at least. Wow, I'm dumb.

booklover1104

07-06-2007 10:15:29

yeah...pure garbage! I'm no Martha Stewart fan, but she got 1 1/2 yrs for lying under oath...I'd rather have a liar than a drunk driver loose in society

manOFice

07-06-2007 10:24:22

I'm really surprised she even made it to jail, I thought her money would have bought her out sooner.

booklover1104

07-06-2007 10:26:52

political pressure goes both ways...the judge would have had a lot of backlash w/out SOME sort of sentencing...

dmorris68

07-06-2007 10:28:20

What really perturbs me is the official who said, after it was reported she would only serve 23 of 45 days due to the state's good behavior policy, that she would definitely serve "the full term" of 23 days, there would be no early release. Yeah, right.

That really ticks me off. I'm really interested in hearing their "justification" for doing this. Maybe she broke a nail or something in her cell. ?

manOFice

07-06-2007 10:29:47

This just proves that the justice system is fucked up. It's not even like paris did something not that wrong....driving drunk is horrible. I wonder what would have happened if she killed someone when she was drunk? 10 days in jail??

this isn't for the drunk driving charge, this is for violating probation and driving on a suspended license.

Just to clarify..but it still doesn't make it ok. She gets to hang out in her posh house for the remainder of her sentence.

A "medical issue." Rumor has it she wouldn't eat the jail food. roll

I swear, you'd think that just once, with the rap that the justice system gets for disparity of treatment, that they seize this as an opportunity to show everybody that for once they were going to stick to their guns and treat the elite like they would anybody else.

Too much to ask for I guess, especially in Hollyweird.

tinkerjenn

08-06-2007 04:46:39

Apparently she IS above the law

[quote68d2fba688]Hilton's path to jail began Sept. 7, when she failed a sobriety test after police saw her weaving down a street in her Mercedes-Benz on what she said was a late-night run to a hamburger stand.

She pleaded no contest to reckless driving and was sentenced to 36 months' probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines.

In the months that followed she was stopped twice by officers who discovered her driving on a suspended license. The second stop landed her in Sauer's courtroom, where he sentenced her to jail.[/quote68d2fba688]

She failed a sobriety test and didn't get slapped with a DUI, just reckless driving.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Paris Hilton was taken from a courtroom screaming and crying on Friday after a judge ordered her returned to jail to serve out her entire 45-day sentence for a parole violation in a reckless driving case.

"It's not right!" shouted the weeping Hilton. "Mom!" she called out to her mother in the audience.

booklover1104

The malicious side of me says, "What a heartwarming picture!"
The Pollyanna side of me says, "Well, she's upset enough by the prospect of jail that she may actually LEARN a lesson here."

-which IS the point...45 days in jail is kinda like a "timeout" in the judicial world...not really punishment; more like a threat.

Yeah, it's real, CNN has it from a different angle (or maybe it was just a cropped close-up of her face in that one).

EDIT Actually CNN.com has that exact picture on their front page now. And that was libeforeli she was sent back to jail -- it was from when they picked her up from home to go back to court this morning. I can only imagine how she looked post-hearing. lol

Just saw on the news tonight that Paris is in a glass cell because she has refused to eat and "doesn't look well" The only person that has been able to see her is her therapist!!!

She needs to grow up and finish out her sentence. She got less than she deserved and should be thankful it is only 45 days. But OMG, no cell phone, whatever will she do???
