Ok, I am not sure how many people have seen this article on digg yet, I'm sorry if you have...but this is ridiculous! Who lets someone steal from you for two months? I mean it sucks she is getting sued, but don't you think she would have noticed her account activity after a couple of days? I don't get it...

It's definitely not her fault, I'll admit she should have been monitoring her account, but the bank should have noticed long before the two months were up. Banks have red flag systems set up and they really should have noticed this, especially with such an good saver, overdrawing her account by thousands...

Well, the fairest I can see it as is 50/50. They do have red flags, but I don't think anything could distract me for that long to not notice thousands in charges. I guess I see things from a different view point..

How in the world does anybody have $20,000 in an overdraft?

No, your exactly right, both of them should have noticed something so huge and now they are both in a crappy situation, her laziness I guess and the bank's irresponsibility, it does go both ways.

God. Another reason I won't bank with for-profit companies. There's no reason this woman would suddenly go on a shopping spree like that, especially with her savings/retirement.

This spree happened in only two months, so she may not have noticed it until the negative balance showed up. She probably didn't give much thought to check her savings/CD balance each month. BoA was probably glad that they didn't have to pay interest on her CD and savings any more roll

The shopping networks should be able to see where they shipped those products and find the ID thief anyways.

Credit unions FTW!

That is so ridiculous. I hope this and the 1,000,000 pants never get to court...

BOA is happy to pay interest... that's how they entice people to lend them their money.
