well when i try to play a svcd video or a game the screen will pizilate really bad then the screen will go blank the the computer will restart.

ive got the newest drivers for the video card and motherboard.

[u762d26ae9b]SYSTEM SPECS[/u762d26ae9b]
Asus A8V Deluxe w/3400+ Athlon 64
ATI Radeon 9600xt 128MB
Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum 2
256MB PC2100+ Ram (i know i need better & more)
280GB HDD (2 x 80GB, 1 x 120GB)
52x Sony CD-RW
8x DVD-Rom
550w Power Supply (Aspire Cameleon 3 in 1, VERY SWEET)
7 80mm case fans (3 x tri-color, 2 x red, 2 x blue)

so im sure it not a power issue, i cant figure it out. the 9600 is running at 8x AGP. i guess i need so if i can either put my video card in a different 8x AGP machine or get an 8x AGP card an put it in mine.

Sounds like heat. Make sure the fan on your video card is working.

didnt even think of that. so i checked and its spinning. i touched the back of the card and it was barly even warm.

I never had that problem, but I once had an issue with an Asus mobo where I would get the BSOD (in XP), or it would reboot sporadically.

Sure it's not a mobo issue? There might be a short somewhere. lishrugli

might be a bad stick o' ram

cdmanproductions

it might be the ram but i don't have an other ram to check it out with.

that's why I'm trying to get the ram from pctech4free.com, so if anyone wants to sign up PM me.

well technically your cpu isnt even at the speed you said it is. Cause you probably need pc3200 to do that speed, are the clock speeds equal? Also try a stress test on the cpu (prime95) and see if its the cpu acting up. Power supply, just to let you know the one you have isnt the greatest brand, you may wanna go for a antec or something. Cause gaming would require a decent amount of power, so yea it could be the power supply. You have to try many parts, swap them out one by one and try to narrow it down to the faulty component.

i know the power supply isn't the best brand but i looked up the reviews and it got nothing but good reviews, even from the over clocking sites i went to.

I'm about 95% that its the video card cause i swapped the card out for a different card i have. its a ati all in wonder 7500 (not the best) but now i can do full screen video with no problem, but the card is running at 4x agp and the other card is running at 8x, so maybe my board has a an issue with 8x video cards, it shouldn't though.

I'm gonna go exchange the video card at best buy even though its like 6 months old. ill just tell them i lost the receipt and i got it like a week ago. and hopefully the video card is the problem.

i know the ram is crap, but i don't have any other ram to try on it. I'm trying to get ram from pctech4free.com so if you wanna trade PM me.

My bet is on video too, when I had one that was crapping out I got similar symptoms.

well i found out what the problem is, its the perticular motherboard that i have with is the asus a8v deluxe and ati video cards, especially the 8x ones, the only way i was able to use any ati card with out it messing up was to change the agp speed on my mobo to 4x, but could tell there was way more power in my 9600xt, ive got a gforce now and no problems, other people on the internet have the same issue and as soon as they either switch to 4x or change to an nvidia card it works fine, so its either hardware conflict or some people were saying its the via 4-in-1 drivers for the mobo. and right now there is no fix for the issue and asus knows its a prblem.

ive ripped a bunch of music videos so you can visit my site to download them.

Don't try to whore your link. If you really have a problem we can try to help.

If you want to check if you have bad RAM use this program...
http//www.memtest.org/
Download the ISO and it will make a bootable CD. Boot to the CD and it will run a bunch of tests and take about 45 min. It will tell you if your RAM is bad. I'd also try uninstalling the video drivers completely, rebooting, and reinstalling them...

ya i was bored last night so i just decided to post again. ya i went from 256 geniric to some good corsair ram, also one of my 80 gig drives died so i took both the 80's out and put in a 250gb.
