Is everything I heard about the network true? Is it really that bad?

I started with freepay... My first freebie ever was a free xbox from them...then I got a ipod shuffle...and then a burberry bag for the wife. They used to rock until the xbox 360 fiasco happened then they went down hill

Freepay was pretty great back then. Got a PSP, ipod, and a DS there.

so what exactly is so evil about them?

90 time limit....and they take forever to ship gifts...and CS is horrible! I'm not sure what their offers look like now a days but you used to be able to complete a $1 trial for full credit

Supacold

14-05-2007 10:40:40

they sold our information, got sued, changed their TOS, delay everything they do...from verifying account to shipping out gifts. they use to verify accounts through the sit, but they now require you to submit a form through snail-mail to have your account verifying...which can take up to 2 weeks.

Everytime they make a big move in upper management, they get worse. It started when Don Charleton (now President) was hired as CEO, and got even worse when Peter Martin (Co-Founder) left...not sure how much worse it could get. All the "good" employees left.

they used to have ebay, a non-cc offer, for full credit.

Their offers are still very good.. that's the only reason I did them for a Wii on gaming.freepay.com.

The only thing I see wrong with them is the fact you have to send in a form for approval. The 90 day limit really shouldn't affect many people..

So I've been "Order Received, Estimated Ship Date Based on Product Availability" since 02/10/2006 on ps3.freepay.com...nothing wrong with that.

Eh, forgot about that. But that can tie into having to send in a form, in a sense. I hope I get my iPod faster than that...

PS3's are easy to get, Amazon has them, BestBuy does, and several other places, so there is no excuse for 3+ months >_>

[quotec6c937698b="Supacold"]they sold our information[/quotec6c937698b]
this is simply not true... they contracted with a well-known company in the space (Datran Media) to manage their email list which is a completely common and generally accepted practice. spitzer sued them because he's trigger happy. as far as i know, the suit was settled in an effort to avoid wasteful spending on a court trial, and [bc6c937698b]Datran[/bc6c937698b] paid the settlement (not Gratis, who acted in good faith). source[=http//washingtontimes.com/business/20060323-095128-5855r.htm]source.

honestly their policies are no stricter than fusioncash's and you don't see nearly as many people bitching about FC. they took the steps necessary to make their business model sustainable and i say props to them for it. if no forum users want to do their sites, power to them; forum users are the worst possible thing for an incentive site.

This is true...also, most of the bitching about FC has nothing to do with fulfillment or customer service, rather, they tend to be bitching about getting busted for some form of fraud.

yeah it's real simple follow the rules and get paid; break them and don't. we are extremely thorough in verifying accounts before payment and we catch things that other sites don't. so a user accustomed to frauding and getting away with it will get upset.

it's actually a pretty interesting phenomenon some of them are so used to getting away with fraud that they actually believe they are not breaking the rules. i'm not sure where the psychological disconnect is.

Edit I guess I would give freepay a shot if a decent low referral requirement site came out...a new site.

justinag06

15-05-2007 16:12:23

freepay knows they are in deep shit on the PS3 site, now that the 20 gb ones are out of production.

I had to call the offices to get an acknowledgment of any emails or CS tickets I had sent. Even then they never replied, I just got a PS3 in the mail a few days later.

You will have to fight for your ps3 if you want to see it I believe. If the case was otherwise I am not sure why they haven't sent everyone $500 supercerts instead. I mean they know the PS3s they are offering are never going to be available, and like FON said people have been waiting over 1 year for it, no matter when it came out they are due to pay everyone.

EatChex89

15-05-2007 16:40:14

I used to complete offers multiple times.

I don't even do freebie sites anymore, tho.

I forgot to cancel the Pitney Bowes thing, and now I've payed them $100+. But oh well.

The loss of Michael was more critical in regards to orders and CS, in my opinion.

Exactly. Outsource, don't outsource, outsource, don't outsource...you want to reach out and strangle someone.

That last part makes you an exception, you know. ;)

As for me, some time ago I accused Gratis of spam when I "fought" for my Thinkpad/Correct VAIO, and no one seemed to believe me. Well, it was true, and pretty spiteful for them to do it at that time. I cringe now for defending them as long as I did, but looking back, they DID try to fix things that were wrong.

I agree with Admin, but to leave so many people out in the cold does hurt their reputation when they try to push their newer sites. Those detractors will follow them across the internet. Some attempt at reparation, more of an olive branch really, would help.

Pretending something doesn't exist, doesn't always make it go away.
