i dont know how you could see that movie three times. it was no where near that good.

I'm a complete comic book nerd. Seriously.

My hubby and I ave every single X-Men comic ever printed. (except for the off-shoots) and a HUGE amount of Spideys.

I hated the Venom story arc in the comics. The movie made it MUCH better (and that's saying something)

there wasn't enough venom. all i have to say is he better be in the next movie.

All I can say is Topher Grace was the only entertaining aspect of that movie. I was bored by every single other aspect of it.

Jams44

10-05-2007 20:09:08

wow! seeing as I have a whole closet full of 2500+ spideys, i can say i was hugely disappointed. i think that the extreme budget was the only thing that kept it entertaining. with millions of bux you can make stunning graphics and have plots that seemed straight outta shall I say Gigli or in this case DareDevil. I think tobey maguire going emo/scene was hilarious because for some reason i felt they thought THIS MAKES HIM BAD!

I'm debating whether to go see this movie or not. Like most I heard it follows the comic book, but is not really that good. Most movies are great the first one, ok the second, and well....it goes down from there.

Easy Bling

10-05-2007 22:34:52

I saw it...they wrapped everything up too quickly at the end. It was too coincidental, it was as if the writers said, "Hey, this would be cool if we put this in the movie...the only problem is how do we make it happen?" And from there, the crappage began. There were even parts where it seemed the movie wasn't even finished (The crane part, what happened to the crane?!?!) Oh well, there's Transformers to look forward to...maybe.

There is a way to watch movies for free too, I won't post the link, but if you're wondering how, shoot me a PM.

yeah I read a REALLY bad review of the movie in the paper recently, and since I havent even seen the second one, I won't be seeing this one.

As much as I like comics and the like, I have to say, this movie wasn't good enough to warrant me spending that much money to see it multiple times. Great effects, sure, and Emo Peter definitely made me laugh...but the overall story wasn't really ... I don't know, it just felt lacking. Plus, I was really hoping for more Venom.

Still a good movie, worth seeing in theaters...but I don't think it qualifies for multiple times. Close...but not quite shrug

11-05-2007 07:08:22

not shocking that women are flocking to see this 3 times within in a week. Just proves that they made spiderman into a chic flick. I liked the first few spidermans since they had a lot of male targeted fight scenes and developed plots. On this one hollywood just wanted to bank off the spidey name and to ensure that they would reach the female market they overloaded it with the sapiness found in many chic flicks.

Well at least someone enjoyed it as I remember dazing off as Spidey explored his romantic side.

I think the lack of a main enemy combatant took away from this movie. You didnt know if it was harry, Sandman or Venom who was the main bad one. They kind of shared the bad guy role which I think confused to many people. Spidey didnt learn shit in this movie. What was the main closer something about choices... fn please. I can still rememebr the first movie where the main theme was something along the lines of with great power comes great responsibility which kind of showed how spiderman came to be and why he couldnt be with MJ. It was touching but in this one they lost theirselves and ended up using a cheap quote to finish the movie.

wow oversensitive this morning aren't we. Well whether you want to be considered a chic or not is up for debate it may be safe to say that with record turnout for this movie there are a lot more female viewers attending. And with you going 3 times you only increase that statistic.

and please you started the thread off with spidey in black is hawt. That pretty much sums up the movie from a girls perspective while the guy is saying this movie sucked and had no plot.

and HAWT can mean more than "he looks good I want to jump him"

Just because I have boobs doesn't make me all sensitive and shit. seriously.

I have to disagree good2speed. If a girl went to see Fight Club for Brad Pitt - it means its a chick flick? (There is a K on chick, btw) If girls go see JarHead for Jake Gyenhall - it means its a chick flick?

Just because the main character may be sexually appealing to the ladies does not mean it is a chick flick. Sure, it may not have a good plot but I guarentee you if you ask the producers this movie was geared toward men in general.

thx for your concern about adding a k to chic. and yes this movie was geared towards men initially but hollywood wanted to capitalize on the female demographic on this one. Every studio is doing it now. They realize the female audience needs to be addressed and thus you see cheezy 3 hour flicks that try to squeeze in a little romance and fighting but none of seem to work.

You will never again see a male dominated blockbuster anymore. the studios ahve arealzied they need to hit all demogrqaphics and if plots need added romance to be a hit with women then so be it. If you think the love triangles developed for this movie was to please the guys then I have to say your wife is brainwashing you already

dont know what Im suppose to take from that last post but I digress regardless. We are arguing over whether Spidey was a chic flick or not( or chick flick in your case). Pointless debate since Im certain it was and am not really too concerned if you share my opinion or not.

It's a chic (pronounced "sheek") flick if it's modern and stylish, but it's a chick flick if it's targeted at females.

TTGP corrected me and last I checked he was a guy. thx for the double correction but I think we can let things go on a internet forum. Especially when you understand the context in which it was referred to.

Once again.. what are we arguing about. second time today. I felt chic is good enough and gets my point across with in context even if its spelled incorrectly. you think chic should never be mistaken for chick. Who cares.. Lets act like we actually have things to do in our lives besides argue something that we know is already understood.

Pretty much every action movie or comic book movie has an element of romance in it for as long as they've been making them. The original Superman movies, Indiana Jones, Die Hard, Star Wars, LOTR (Frodo and Sam), etc. This isn't a new thing...

ya but notice the male actors in those movies were men not metrosexuals.

Indiana Jones - Harrison Ford is the guy women love but he's a roughneck archeologist who doesnt have enough time to deal with women. Most of his relationships are flings and he has a new girl by the next movie.

Die Hard - John Mccain was a bad ass and it wasnt so sappy. I remember yippie kie aye fromt hat movie not a love story.

Star Wars - once again Harrison Ford playin a bad ass who likes priness leiah but isnt really too interested in commiting. and star wars is far from a romantic flik.

basically all the new movies try to make the romance a little too sappy and drawn out. ITs really killing hollywood blockbusters. heres hoping mccain is still a bad ass and killing dutch terrorists. I def wouldnt be happy paying $10 for another sequel made into a love story.

If I wanted to see a love story I wouldve just ingested sleeping pills while my date watched the movie.

Have you even READ Spiderman?

He was a nerdy smart kid that got bitten by a spider. YES, he was in love with MJ. YES, he was conflicte about his feelings for her and the whole superhero thing.

This is from the '60s...before the Harrison Fords, etc. Hollywood did make Spidey, Stan Lee made Spidey what he is.
