Which system was better in your eyes. I just recently whipped out these 2 old systems and starting playing my old school games.

General Chaos was the best game for Genesis

ROUND 1....FIGHT

I never had a super Nintendo but I had a Sega Genesis and that system rocked.

Sega Genesis. I never owned a SNES, thought I wanted one, the Genesis kept me happy.

Yeah, the new one for Xbox sucked, I was so disappointed. That was one of my favorite games, that and a game...Rocket something, you had blue armor on and you shot like orange boomerang looking things....

ROCKET KNIGHTS ADVENTURES!!!!!!!

BEST GAME. Actually beat it again about a month ago

TryinToGetPaid

17-04-2007 08:10:05

YEAH! I never beat it, though I have gotten pretty far, I didnt know anyone else played that.

And a weird game Sword of Sodon. (Something like that, it was freakin wierd, you could mix potions and possible kill yourself with them)

Super Nintendo hands down. Still till this day the best console.

Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Super Metroid...

I mean the list goes on and on. It was still about good ol' fun then. ) And always great family fun. It reeks of nostalgia.

I owned a Genesis first, and still 'till this day own both consoles. I mean how can you not play Sonic 2? It's a classic no doubt.

Anyone ever play Super Ghoul's And Ghosts? With a nice little suprise at the end wink

I had both Genesis and SNES, SNES the best by far, the controller was nice for its time, the games were awesome (Mario and FF anyone?) Yeah Sega had Sonic but blah. I by far loved and cherished my SNES more. My cat also pissed on both of my Genesis systems, lol. Guess that says something right there.

SNES FTW!! The first system I ever owned. Can't tell you how many times I beat Super Mario World wink

They were different and had different games, I can't vote because both were equal in awesomeness. P

I own a Genesis, and I've played a Super Nintendo before both in real life and on an emulator.

Super Nintendo....had 2 of the greatest games ever....

Super Mario RPG and Chrono Trigger

phriq

17-04-2007 17:49:24

I spent countless hours on my super nes. Mario RPG was classic. the Wing commander games were excellent. and i spent HOURS playing super techmo bowl.....by far SNES kicked Sega's ass.....

but on a side note, Dreamcast is the solution to all your gaming needs.;)

just kidding

I would have to go with Sega Genesis... But I'm not saying that the SNES wasn't a good system, I owned both consoles [SNES before the Genesis] and the SNES had it's fair share of solid titles as well (I was hooked on Killer Instinct when it came out).

But my first and one true love is the NES.

Chrono Trigger for the win! Do you know if they are going to have it on the Virtual Console. I would love to play that and Secret of Mana again - it would be great if they did Secret of Mana 2 (since it was never released in the US)

Dr. Doom

17-04-2007 21:18:45

I owned both systems and have recently created SNES and Genesis emulators for my Dreamcast (ftw!); I play the following games on each

Genesis
-Last Battle
-Golden Axe (all of them)
-Streets of Rage 1, 2, 3
-Sonic (all of them)
-Gunstar Heroes

SNES
-Super Mario World
-TMNT Turtles in Time
-Street Fighter II
-Super Punchout!!
-UN Squadron
-Sim City
-Donkey Kong Country
-Fatal Fury (all of them)
-NBA Jam
-Super Buster Bros
-Legend of Zelda

As you can see, I spend a lot more time playing SNES games.

I had Sega Genesis. I was a Sonic FREAK when I was younger. I was even him for Halloween. However, a friend of mine had SNES, and I loved Super Mario and DK. So it's a tough call, but I'd have to go with Sega. What the hell is that company doing these days, anyway?

They just make video games now. Sonic, shining force, virtua fighter, sega rally, outrun,etc...

Id go with Snes!!

Genesis... Streets of Rage series, Sonic series, Golden Axe series, Shining Force series, uncensored Mortal Kombat, Altered Beast, Phantasy Star series, Comix Zone, Beyond Oasis, Road Rash series, Micro Machines(the first 4 player console game ever I think?), Ecco the Dolphin, Ristar, Earthworm Jim, Shinobi series, Vector Man series, Splatterhouse series, SpiderMan Seperation Anxiety, the list goes on.

Then you had Sega CD, one of the most underrated console add ons EVER IMO. It had so many impressive games, with Snatcher(Hideo Kojima's second game and arguably my favorite), Night Trap(this game is the reason we have the ratings system), Eternal Champions, Sonic CD, both Lunar games and SpiderMan VS Kingpin.

Not to take anything away from the SNES, it also had some VERY impressive titles. Square's RPGs were all nothing short of amazing, although I have trouble thinking of truly great games that weren't RPGs, besides Mario, Metroid, Megaman X and StarFox.

I think the 16 bit era was the closest the console wars have been thus far, it was a great time for gaming!

Oh, and how else do I know the Genesis is better? Games are still being produced for it! Check it out, Beggar Prince was just commercially released last year XD http//www.beggarprince.com/

Oh no I dont mind, I just wanted to know if the Wii was gonna have it in the future and if anyone knew. I could always hook up my SNES and play it if I want, lol.

BTW This whole thread reminds me of the Angry Video Game Nerd's reanactment of the video game wars (aka Wii Salute)

SNES for the matter of this thread. Although Genesis was also awesome, but SNES wins in my book.

But I would rather NES. That was kick ass. I pull that out every once in a while to play all the old games. Top Gun, Snake Rattle and Roll, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mario and Duck Hunt, the list goes on. There were so many and I can't remember the names of a lot of them. I should have never loaned out games, I knew I'd never get them back (

-Earthworm Jim (One of the best platforms ever)
-Toe Jam and Earl
-Mortal Kombat 3 (couldnt play this without the 6 button controller)
-Vectorman
-Road Rash (the shit)
-Streets of rage
-Battletoads/double dragon (even though it was on both systems)
-Castlevania
-Sonic (sonic 3 + knuckles drool)
List goes on!
