Ok so I bought this lap top about a month ago from Dell Outlet using my PayPal Debit Card for $909. I just saw this on my recent account activity tonight.

DELL CATALOG SALES L.P 800-624-9897 TX
[b4d0b49dcfa]Purchase Date[/b4d0b49dcfa]

[b4d0b49dcfa]Net Amount[/b4d0b49dcfa]
$909.00 USD

Completed
Now the dilemma, do I call the 1-800 number and tell them they accidentally gave me back $909 or just wait to see if they catch it?
btw, would it be illegal to keep it? I know banks legally have one year to catch mistakes they make but what about online?

This happened to me with Cingular.
I purchased a mobile phone plan and three phones, they charged me, shipped the phones and the day they arrived, they refunded the almost $300 that I initially spent on the phones and plan.
I left the money in my account for about three weeks, called them and asked them what was going on. They weren't sure so I asked them if they could just charge me again so it would come out of my account, but they said they had their money so they couldn't.
Then, as money came in from freebie sites I started to use it and my eventual balance wen't to below what Cingular had given me back. Then about two weeks after I called them, they took the money back and my account was then $90 in debt.
So, spend it if you like, but you'll just owe it back to them and your Paypal account will be in debt and unusable until you do so.

This only happens with paypal and it happens quite often. You are or will be charged no matter what.

They'll probably figure it out at some point. As to whether or not it would be illegal to keep it, I don't know. Unethical? Definitely yes.

or you could switch all the money to your bank account and delete your paypal account...
Then become a women, and move to alabama, and work as a bartender until your 43 birthday, when you can become a man again and move back home. I've done it

It's not an error. This happens all the time, don't use the money it will come out of your account at a later date.
