Has it happened to anyone? I got my awesome one word screen name suspended, yet I can't figure out why. In 2004 and 2005, AOL accidently suspended AIM screen names while trying to release old screen names back into the "pool."

By now they should have already learned not to make the same mistake. So I'm hoping it's a mistake and that screen names will be restored, but if it's not, does anyone have a contact within AOL and if they use Merlin to unsuspend screen names?

So yeah, if you've tried signing on and you get the dumb "Sign in blocked" error, post here so that we can safely assume it's AOL being morons again.

When my parents canceled AOL, they blocked my screen name from AIM for like 6 months thinking they could con us into reuping for their service. Of course, I had already quit using AOL years before, but I have my original sn back after just trying it every so often.

someone who that screen name was probably stolen from had it suspended. There are countless ways to suspend an aim screen name. If someone had an aol account of that screen name they could have easily suspended it.

It wasn't stolen from anyone, and it was never an AOL account. I'm quite familiar with AOL because I was sorta "into" how it worked and loopholes back in 1999-2001. I've had that name for about 5 years now, so it's odd that it's suspended now.

this happened to me. we were cleaning out our basement and there was this old computer. I turned it on and it had an ooooold sn of mine. When i tried to use that sn later, it keeps saying errorblocked.

i got it fixed by using AOL's live help thing from the website. The first two idiots didnt do anything and told me to call AOL and have them look at my account (even though i never had AOL, it was just an AIM sn).

But the last one did something and told me to try signing on. It worked and my buddy list (yeeeeeeears old.... i mean like from seventh grade) was still intact!

Ooh! I was trying to use the AOL Live thing, but I couldn't get it to work. Do you remember the URL you went to talk to them?

Yes, well, I don't know who these people are and it wouldn't be worth if it AOL found out and suspended it again. I just want my buddy list off of it because I have clients on there who I have to reach.

If you know how, wouldn't you be able to help me?

I thought AOL had done a scan for any screen names that contained "Admin" "Host" or bad words a while back? Either way, I just checked and that screen name is also suspended.

Who knows what AOL is doing, it's driving a lot of people nuts.

i got it in with the exploit and it was protected from scanning.

someone ratted me out i guess
