So, I'm working, and I get 3 calls, one from my dad, my sister, and one of my friends.

Two voicemails indicate that something big happened but not what. I call my sister and she tells me that a mutual friend of ours has passed away.

I've never had a friend die before, so I'm really kind of out of it, doing reality checks, and just shaken up in general.

I just wish I would have called her or spoke to her one last time...

Yeah, I know how that goes. It wasnt self-inflicted was it? That is the hardest to deal with, one weekend my friend was passed out drunk, so we put peanut butter in his hair and slapped him around, and the next weekend he is watching over all of us.

Sorry for your loss.

It'll hurt now, but once you realize that they're in a better place, it shouldn't hurt as much, just remember, it's not bad to cry

When you say reality checks, are you referring to lucid dreaming?

You make it sound like that was directly responsible for his act.

Ilanbg, reality checks, I mean, I'm actually more aware that life ends and that. That i'm actually alive, but could die at any moment. That sort of thing.

That's the press article about the accident. '(

I cried for 3 days straight when my mom died.

Sorry to hear that, I have had a few friends die one when I was in 6th grade and it was a huge shock to me (4 wheeler accident or w/e they're called) and the whole school. When my older siblings were in high school there were a lot of car accidents and their friends passed away as well.
More recently (almost a year ago) I had a friend who killed himself his senior year 2 weeks before graduating high school graduation.

Through death will you then appreciate life to its fullness

p.s. one word of advice is don't ignored what happened

I feel really bad for you, and your family, the victims family, and all of their friends are in my thoughts and prayers...Don't let it consume you, but don't try and ignore it.
