Ok I want to get a tattoo and I need help. I want to get it on my leg somewhere pants will hide but shorts will show it. I was thinking maybe my name but I don't know where to place it or what to get. I want to stay away from crosses because its cliché and although I'm Catholic, I'm not practicing.

Any ideas?

www.tattoofinder.com - sometimes a bit slow, but very useful

Once you get an idea of what you want, then think about placement (alternatively, you could decide on placement...then think about what would "fit" there...but that kind of limits your freedom to choose whatever you like).

I was thinking my last name (Wolfe) but old English last names are all over SoCal...

I've actually wanted a second tattoo for a while...but I haven't found anything worth getting, nor have I decided on placement. I've considered a barcode of my birthdate, but I'm a perfectionist and therefore very concerned about how "perfect" the lines would be.

Not an impulse and unless I find something I really like, I'm not getting it. I've been wanting to get a tattoo for a long time. When I was in HS and a lot more religious I wanted to get a Celtic cross on my calf

Relax... roll I am just asking a common question when it comes to someone wanting a tattoo.

I think some people are right for tattoos, some people aren't and vice-versa (some tattoos are good for certain people, etc...). Your good friends (their opinion should count in your life, shouldn't it?) can at least give you input on what would be right for you if you're set on getting one.

Jenncherry99

A tattoo should never be taken lightly. It will be on you for the rest of your life. Really, it is a personal choice. If a friend here at FIPG wants to get a tattoo, you should be supportive. Even if it isn't your cup of tea. I have 3 and I want more. I have never been happy with my body (in fact it makes me want to hurl myself off a bridge) but I find that the ink makes me more acceptable to myself. I have always said that if I gave a damn what anyone else thought of me I wouldn't look like this. ;)

Really though, Wolfe, just make sure that it is something you can live with for the rest of your life. Don't not get a particular design because someone tells you it looks stupid. if you like it and you really want it on your body, go for it. the same can be said for the opposite. Don't get something just because someone tells you it is cool. Make your own choice my friend.

I was told that if you want a tattoo, wait 6 months and then decide again if you REALLY want it. Its going to be something that youre going tohave the rest of your life so take it seriously.

I want one. If I get one on my leg its going to be covered 90% of the time. I don't see myself regretting it and I'm not taking it lightly. Most of my friends think its lame but I hate most of my friends. I am leaning towards an Irish or Celtic symbol. I really want some good ideas and some good placement ideas.

I know, I know...it's soooo overdone, but there is something about a Superman symbol on a well-toned bicep...hhmmm...yum!

Personally, I love tattoos on men as long as they aren't "covered" in them. For a long time I wanted "something" on me too, but never could find anything I wanted to keep forever. I finally realized that since I don't wear jewelry and rarely wear makeup that it'd be kinda silly for me to add a permanent body decoration when I don't normally wear the temporary variety.

I've also been thinking about getting a tattoo for awhile. I've never really wanted one because of how permanent they are, but I want one that has a meaning behind it. I'm going through a major turning point in my life and I want to get a tattoo of a phoenix, because it is a sign of rebirth. It will be a reminder that I have changed and do not want to go back to where I was. I found one that I really like

I really wanted to get a tatoo in college...a tiny spider on the back of my neck. Today, as a mom of three young kids who wears her hair in a ponytail 90% of the time, I'm glad I didn't get that particular one. But part of me still wishes I'd gotten one somewhere...maybe that'll be a mother/daughter bonding experience someday when my girls decide they want tattoos! Or my son and I could get our noses pierced together...My best friend, who's half Japanese, got the Kanji for "love" on her back and I have to admit, it looks really cool. Actually any of those Kanjis look good as tattoos. Have you considered them? Maybe "ohkami" which means wolf.

Do Celtic tatoos have any meaning to you or do you just like the design?

The tree is cool... just make sure you don't end up with something like this ---

You could go all out with this ---

j/k but it does look kind of cool. Not something I would do though. o

You don't want random Japanese lettering plastered on your arms with ninja throwing stars on your nipples?
