Mushroom season!

As the morel mushroom season approaches, I just wanted to get some feedback to see if anybody has found these hot commodities yet or if you hunt for them. My husband and I go out every year and find more muchrooms than we could ever eat and we are starting to get very antsy has the weather warms.

I used to do that every year with my uncle. I loved it! But then he got married and it was like he got too old for me or something and I really don't hang out with him anymore. So it's been a long long time since I've gone out.

Finally??? I'm a bather, mushroom or no. (Clotter, too)

I do like to hit them with the handheld shower massage though. They seem to like that.

hmmmm..... That's fantastic!!!

Just hope you don't come across an irregular Turban Fungus (false morel) that could kill you. Painfully, too.

Although usually distinguishable by those in the know, false morels can sometimes take irregular shapes and colors like any mushroom and look just like a morel.

Personally, I only like the kind of mushrooms that turn blue/purple when you touch them or break them lol

Woah I just looked up morels and they look tasty. Can you give me some hints on hunting for these cus I just might go out and get some. Also when would be a good time to hunt for them?

picking the wrong mushroom can KILL you. As I posted before, there is a look-alike mushroom to the morels. It's obviously distinguishable 95% of the time by certain traits, but there are occurances where it resembles them quite a bit.

They are also rare, so you don't hear many stories about people dying from picking morels. It could happen, and it has though.

Never pick mushrooms to eat without consulting a mycologist.

It all depends on where you live, I expect the season to hit my home state within the next two weeks. Also rivers are a good place to hunt, but the little bastards are hard to find. You have to have a really good eye, you might find one and step on 5 to get get to it.

I used to pick morels when I lived in the Pacific Northwest.

the only mushrooms I have ever heard of picking were the kind that grow in cow pastures in oregon????

I assume you mean mushrooms that contain psilocybin ("magic mushrooms").

Mushroom season has finally hit the midwest! My husband and I went yesterday and found 67. Anybody else?
