New Car?

I am looking at getting the 07 eclipse GT..i am only in high school...but i want a good fast car for a cheap price..the eclipse i am looking at is V6 manual and all that other stuff...does anybody have any other references to good cars that i could possibly fix up into a fast car? and no suggestions for the honda civic )

I'd personally stay away from Mazda and mitsubishi.... both are generally problems, im sure there have been exceptions though, but generally speaking

the honda civic si is cheap and its 2.0 197 hp engine. with a 4k turbo kit ur pushing 350 on 4-6 pounds of boost. and there hella sexy!

I was told this same thing when I was buying a car and at the time I didn't believe it, so I dont' expect you to either. But,

Don't buy that car. It's too expensive, nomatter what you think and it's not worth it. The insurance on those cars is rediculous!! That is what killed me, I was paying like $1000 every 6 months. And I wasn't really happy with that car at all, and I never got to drive it because I was always working to pay for the insurance and payments, I thought I would be but I really wasn't. Definatly look into insurance before you buy it. My dad warned me but ultimatly let me make my own decision, which is good and bad at the same time. It put me way behind with cash and lost me a ton of money, but I learned my lesson.

Well i had a horrible experience with a 3000GT VR4 x my senior year totaled it x x but besides that they are good cars to work on just depends what your into really

Well you arn't gonna like any of my suggestions because they arn't what your looking for. But honestly you seem like a split image of me when I was in highschool. I was the same way.

If I had to recommend,
Not an eclipse. Sure they look nice but they are way overrated and not as fast as you might think. I never got anybody turn their heads and look at my eclipse even though I had a system and underglow and 5% tint and the list goes on.

My Stealth wasn't the greatest car, because when it had problems it was super expensive to fix. But that was a head turner, especially with people that actually knew a little about cars. With the eclipse I'd have like 5 year old kids say hey nice car, but with the stealth I had adults go wow nice car.

I honestly would recommend you wait. Wait till you at least graduate high school and see how poor your are once college starts. And see what it's like to park a car on a college campus.

Buy something like a ZX2. They are slow as shit but look ok and I've never had a single problem with mine. And I put 128,000 on a 2001 delivering pizza. It's not as nice as you might want but it wont' break the bank and it will last quite a while. That sports car you are looking at probably wont' and if it does it's only because you are putting a lot of money into it.

If you dont' want to hear that look around for an older sports car that's a little cheaper than the eclipse.

Or just buy the eclipse and see how it works out for you, but remember I warned you.

edit just buy a stealth, I got mine for like $3500 and it was super fast. I never took it to top speed, I was a little scared at 140. Plus if I got pulled over doing that I'd be in deep shit. And it held to the road really good. there is a 90 degree turn that I used to take at 115 w/o a problem. That and my jeep are the two cars I really miss. I coulnd't give a shit about the eclipse when I look back at it.

Wow. Being a dad makes me realize that putting money into your car is worthless, unless you compete and WIN in shows....

Mid to late 90's accord V6 coupe - lots of aftermarket for them, and less than $10K, plus it's a Honda, so you'll get at least 150K miles out of it, (of you remember to change the timing belt) ;).

i think that the 5th gen accord was the greatest in the 90s 95-97 of course there is amazing aftermarket but he doesnt like hondas

i like the coupe accords from 04

next car I am getting is an older 240sx, will be a nice project car

Why is everybody into fast cars, how about a jeep or truck? I know that is not what you are talking about buying, but I just put 200,000+ on my jeep and runs perfectly. ZX2 for fast car though that is not too expensive.

Ouch lol was that with the neon? Trust me tho if the car is hooked up right they can be hard to beat, i just got mine so it has nothing done to it, all i gotta do is save up for the Twin Turbo, exhaust, headers, intake and all that i could be up to well over 400+ , when the neon comes stock with a turbo, and so does the STI while the 350Z comes with no turbo, try racing an STI with no turbo and same with a neon with no turbo they are all useless pretty much without their turbos.

With what? I have a buddy that just installed a ds-1 procharger on his GT..capable of 32lbs of boost...he's obviously gotta do some work to push that much, but thats MORE than enough if you ask me...600+whp is too much for the street unless your a crazy mo fo imo

I would take looks/sounds over speed though...you can make any car go fast, but you can't make any car sound good and look good 8)

The dealer near my house is selling a new one for around 23k with 2k off the suggested price..and ill probably be able to bring him down to under 20k..also its 0 percent interest for 48 months

The GTS looks alot better..

here's my problem though

i can still get an eclipse..but ifound out its pretty much a 2 seater

but i need to decide by tomorrow cause thats when the promotion ends

i'd go eclipse any day over that lancer... Now if we're talkin the Lancer Evo MR... that's an amazing car. AWD, Turbo, 4 door. I test drove that thing and it blew me away how fast it was. I was the first one to test drive the car. The sales guy told me to drive it like he wasn't there. I had it up to 100 reaaaallly fast. When I got back to the dealer there was smoke billowing from the hood scoop because of all the oils burning off. The looks kinda suck but the drive was amazing. I was thinking about getting one when I sell the caddy. The dealer was telling me that they're coming out with a new one in a year or two that is supposed to be crazy.
