I invite all to subscribe, support, comment, make fun, talk shit, and do anything you would like.

Should be fun.

I used to go to another forum and this guy did something similar. This guy was like 300lbs. He took a picture of himself every two weeks or so to post on the forum and he lost like 125lbs. It was crazy.

I'd like to think the forum had something to do with it, even though I know it didn't. (

Ya that is my goal. When I have good news to share with strangers, it is always fun. Plus I figure I can get really into it with the trolls who might comment, which will keep me into my weight loss blog, which will keep me trying to lose weight.

The first time I lost my weight, I had a girl who I had gone to school with for about 4 years come up to me and ask where she knew me from. Kinda odd.

yeah, sometimes its easier to check yourself if you make it public. harder to go back on your plans then.

My brother lost about 70 pounds in just a few months...it was pretty amazing. He got up really early before he had to work or go to school and ran a mile or two...went kayaking every late afternoon and switched his diet to mostly fruits and veggis. He ate meat and other stuff...but pretty much cut out dairy and most breads. It was mainly fruits and nuts and veggies and meat like fish and chicken.

It was a dramatic loss....noticeable differences every few days. He said he lost close to a pound every 2 days.

Looks good, man, what do you plan to do as far as schedule wise? You should post what kind of changes you are making and make like a post that says before I took in an average of lilili and etc. Kind of like a "before I did this but now I'm doing this" kind of stuff. In my opinion, 80 pounds is a very realistic goal, BTW.

I think that's dependent on the OP's current level of activity and eating habits. The people you see on Biggest Loser and the like are folks who have never done anything athletic in their lives and eat fast food all day long. Once you start being active and eating better, the pounds will fall off.

In my experience, the best way to lose weight is to eat 5-6 smaller meals throughout the day, rather than 3 meals (obviously with fewer total calories than you intake now). Also, be sure to eat your biggest meal in the morning, not at night.

Junior might be a good source of info - I know he's spent the past few months dedicated to weight loss and seen some dramatic results...

As a matter of fact, I hit my goal weight this morning... bringing my total weightloss to 80 pounds. Being a little more active and eating better will do a shitload in the beginning but as you get closer to your goal weight you'll have to turn up the heat.

Congrats man! I do understand how it all works, and the hard part for me, is I am very active as is. I walk my dog about 1-2 miles every day, and snowboard 2-4 times a week. Gonna have to eat healthy and step it up.

Today is my 19th birthday, and I feel I should really change, especially since I am at the point of pushing for sponsers, I should be able to perform at my maximum potential.

I'm gonna be adding another blog entry in a few minutes, check it out.

Rock on man, it seems like you're doin great. Please don't take this as negative critisism but it seems to me that you might be going a little too low on your calorie intake. I only point it out because you don't want your body to go into "starvation mode" because then it holds on to all your fat! I have this great Ebook called "Burn the fat, feed the muscle" that I can send you if you'd like. It's an awesome book just stuffed with info. I'm pretty sure Kidd vouched for it in another thread here. Sorry to hijack your thread. Keep up the good work!

I got serious about wanting to lose weight and the first thing I did was stop drinking pop so much. I'll share a fountain drink with DH once or twice a month, but I've been drinking water and Cyrstal light (5 calories, made with splenda, not aspartame).

Just doing that, I lost 5 lbs really quickly. Once I made that a permanent fix (not just something I did for a month, but for 3 months), I moved on to eating a bigger breakfast, and eating smaller portions at dinner.

I always have something to nibble on at work. I typically have my 100 calorie snack packs (LOVE THEM) to tide me over. Plus lots of water.

Right now I'm at 145, and my goal weight is around 135. (I have not added an exercise routine, but that is my next step.)

Total weight loss has been around 15lbs thus far. ;) I had gained the 5lbs I lost before the wedding, and that's when I said enough was enough.

Good luck!!!

Make sure that whatever changes you make, you can stick with FOREVER! If not, you'll be right back where you started.

Not drinking soda helps alot but depending on the person it can prove to be immensely difficult... I couldnt stop drinking soda till I was within 10 pounds of my goal. I would say for people who absolutely must have soda should just drink diet soda when starting out then cut it altogether when you start getting really close to your goal.

i prefer aspartame to splenda.... dont you find that splenda has a horrific aftertaste? Aspartame tastes more like real sugar.

Labtec-Jay

03-04-2007 20:16:34

The only soda I ever drank before was diet sodas, but I even got rid of those, and it has not bothered me yet. I drink around 80 ounces of water a day now, which is FAR more than I ever have before.

No, but splenda diet coke is horrible. I forget if it's a mix of splenda and aspartame, or splenda alone, but ugh. Coke Zero is a nice mix of Aspartame and Sunnett (I think).

That said, Splenda is just like sugar in powdered form in tea or coffee (for me anyhow). I've used it in cooking too. Tastes fine. Aspartame, on the other hand, has a very metallic oily taste, although I've developed a taste for it in diet soda. (Have no choice, really) I'd prefer saccharin, but I'm guessing lobbyists for the others are preventing its return despite newer positive studies.

Anyhow, I too, am trying to shed a few, and if anything, my desire and consumption for soda (diet) has increased. It's ironic, since regular soda put those pounds on in the first place. )

Yes, true, but aspartame has been known to stun weight loss, as well as being linked to cancer.

Tholek

04-04-2007 10:25:16

True. I don't like drinking Aspartame, but until Saccarin (again), Sunnett or some other artificial sweetener hits the soda market in a big way, there's not much choice, and it's somewhat palatable.

The Aspartame cancer risk is known, although debated, but I'd like to see the evidence that it stuns weight loss. I've only heard the argument that diet soda indirectly causes weight gain by sustaining a sweet tooth.

intresting what people put in their bodies

Throughout the 1960s, various studies suggested that saccharin might be an animal carcinogen. Concern peaked in 1977, after the publication of a study indicating an increased rate of bladder cancer in rats fed large doses of saccharin

Aspartame was discovered in 1965 by James M. Schlatter, a chemist working for G.D. Searle & Company. Schlatter had synthesized aspartame in the course of producing an anti-ulcer drug candidate. He discovered its sweet taste serendipitously when he licked his finger, which had accidentally become contaminated with aspartame.[3]

Following initial safety testing, there was debate as to whether these tests had indicated that aspartame may cause cancer in rats

Interesting how people pass off quotes from the internet as their own knowledge. roll I actually had to research aspartame and sucralose(splenda) for a chemistry project so i know about those studies on rats. There are also lots of studies that show aspartame is safe for humans.
